  • I was curious about my heritage, so I ordered a kit on Amazon's Black Friday sale. The results were pretty faster, arriving a few weeks before planned. I got to learn about where my ancestors lived, and got interesting health insights as well.

    Feedback

I wish it was easier to connect 23andMe to other genealogy platforms.

  • Expensive, but worth it if you’re really into your ancestry and genetic make-up. Website is easy to use/navigate. Plus, they are always updating your account with new genes tested and updated ancestry profile.

    Feedback

Very expensive, but better price with sales.

  • Found out I was way more British then I thought 🤣 very humbling

  • I got 23andme for Christmas a few years ago and it has been so cool getting connected with family members all over the country and world. It was so easy to take the DNA test and to send the sample back to them. They will periodically update your DNA results and make your ancestry more specific. I bought the one that also told you what conditions you are pre-disposed to have which was very useful it you are like me and what to take precautions early or want to know what runs in your family. I will be buying my fiancé one soon as a gift so he can find out his ancestry!

  • It is very easy to use, the results are uploaded pretty fast and you get all kind of information about your health and even habits!

  • It was a pretty cool experience, I was really surprised by the results. We have a fat more diverse make up than I realized.

  • Ok you knowwwww, I understand the controversy and implications but I do think that it personally provided me with some pretty useful health insights/genetic testing for a pretty good price (especially if you get it on sale). The information I received actually pushed me to pursue a healthier lifestyle. + I’ve also heard a lot of cool stories from coworkers and friends about finding and connecting with family members so if you’re curious about your family history, it’s pretty useful for that

  • I feel it was pretty accurate. My sister got hers done & well I didn’t need to pay because we have the same parents & it’s cool to look at relatoves I never even knew or my history.

  • I have had a 23andMe account forever. It's really neat to see how the details of my ancestry have evolved and my DNA connections have grown.

  • While it is definitely pricy for what it is, it is fun getting the results back and learning more about your ancestry. I've also had a few distant relatives reach out, which has been interesting. I will note that based on my research and understanding, the health traits (additional fee on top of base kit) are skewed towards genes that show up in European demographics and are not comprehensive/representative of other minorities. Hopefully that's something that will improve with time and as more information is collected/synthesized

  • I used this to help me make decisions to imporve my health and welness, the gentic dns tsesting and family tree stuff has been very helpful too. looking to get my whoel family tested eventually.

  • Mine came back and really showed me my heritage, it was an easy process and ended up buying for my whole family 🤭

    Feedback

The price tag is a bit hefty.

  • Very cool product, but would not recommend. In the fine print, they can sell your information.

    Feedback

    Great consumer privacy security

  • It really is a cool experience to see where you "come from". I enjoyed seeing the results for mine and also knowing more about myself.

  • tried this with my family, some interesting insights and an interesting christmas present, website has new content about your specific genealogy to review every month or two

    Feedback

pretty good product, don't expect anything too much that you don't already know unless there are big question marks about your lineage

  • The process and easy and straightforward. I received my results quickly and I learned some new and interesting things about myself.

    Feedback

The website could use a revamp. It’s not the most intuitive to use and I find that I have to click around a lot to find what I’m looking for.

  • test provided a lot of info on genealogy and ancestry, including maps, charts, and preference insights.

    Feedback

a lot of ads about upgrades to view health reports

  • This is a very cool product. I like learning about my ancestry and health. I know people who have had unique experiences of meeting long lost relatives. Such a good concept.

    Feedback

    A little pricy.

  • I was wary at first to use this because I was worried about how my data would be used. 23andMe lets you opt out of anything you don't want your genomic data to be used in, and your data will be deleted after a certain period of time. I did opt in for certain things, because I believe in their mission to advance genomic science. It was really cool to see my ancestral history, and their app gives you accompanying historical information. They give you plenty of free information like, are you more likely to sneeze when looking at the sun, but you also have the option to pay more to see if you're susceptible to certain traits and genetic diseases.
