23andMe earns largely positive reviews for delivering engaging ancestry mapping, robust health predisposition reports, and an intuitive app that keeps updating insights; it clearly works for users seeking genetic context and family connections. However, reviews flag significant drawbacks: recurring upsells/subscriptions, uneven depth for non‑European health traits, occasional confusing interfaces, slow results for some, and serious privacy concerns including data selling and breaches.

The best gift I ever received 🎁. My best friend gifted me this kit for my 30th birthday. He has since passed, and although I miss him every single day, getting new information about my relatives, ancestry and potential health risks in the app is like the gift that keeps on giving from him.
Feedback
App is really well-designed, the data is very interesting and is constantly updating. [PRO TIP:] You can also export your genome and upload to other apps without having to do the saliva test again.

This was a great experience for many reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about my heritage! My family doesn't have any cultural traditions, and so I wanted to find out more about where I originated from to add culture to my life! I have plans to travel to all the places I have origins from and learn more about the heritage. Also, being someone in the fitness, health, and wellness career, I especially enjoyed diving into my medical side. It was great to see I don't have the variants of Alzheimer's which runs in my family. Finally, I think it's cool to see how many people I'm related to. I never got to meet many of my cousins, and it showed me I have quite a few in my state!
