Reviews mention

  • Ultra-creamy texture ice cream
  • Inventive, memorable flavor catalog
  • Convincing, creamy vegan options
  • High-quality, rich ingredients
  • Inconsistent flavor execution reports
  • Sparse honeycomb mix-in pieces
  • Occasionally overwhelming sweetness levels
  • Crowded, hectic scoop shop experience

Van Leeuwen earns strong reviews as a rich, ultra‑creamy ice cream brand with standout flavors like Honeycomb, Earl Grey Tea, Sicilian Pistachio, and inventive non‑dairy options that convincingly mimic dairy. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some flavors miss the mark, portions of mix-ins can feel sparse, and in‑shop experiences can be crowded or uneven, making it a treat best reserved for indulgent moments.

  • They are absolutely delicious. I'm a basic chocolate lover, and the texture of this ice cream has not been matched - at least at the in person shop. A worthy treat!

  • I tried the honeycomb ice cream and it was amazing! so rich and creamy and the pieces of honeycomb were my favorite part, I just wish there were more!

  • Van Leeuwen has the best store bought pistachio ice cream IMO. The brown butter flavor is also a good to. I don't really like most of the other flavors but these to are so good the other ones don't matter. The malted cookie dough one as an unusual taste. The honeycomb one doesn't have honey?

  • Van leeuwen is so so so good. Every flavor is so rich and creamy. My favorite is the earl grey tea version, but every one I've tried is great. It's always a little pricey but I think it's worth it. Whenever I want to indulge in a good ice cream I get this one

  • So so good! I enjoy the pistachio and the vanilla with honeycomb. The chocolate brownie is good, but the vanilla one is less overwhelming, and the flavors are nicely distinct. Only as a sometimes food. It’s still plenty sugary.

  • I visited their storefront in DC and tried the earl grey vegan ice cream flavors and was really impressed. It had a creamy ice cream-like consistency that I feel is sometimes hard to find with non-dairy ice cream. The storefront was pretty, inviting, and sleek with a wide array of flavors satisfying those who are picky and those who want to try something more interesting. Pretty pricey but that's typical for 'artisan ice cream' in the city now

  • I love their unique flavors - like Mac & Cheese, Dill Pickle (not my fav - but fun to try), Idaho Malted Milkshake & Fries.. I'm a sucker for anything new and trendy, and the fact that they're $4.99 is even better.

  • best vegan ice cream on the market, cannot taste or feel the difference. great flavour range. cant wait to try more

  • When you miss authentic British Milk tea ... Or it's too dang hot outside to actually have your afternoon tea - grab a pint of the Earl Grey Tea from Van Leeuwen! The cookies and cream, and the Sicilian pistachio are also my go to favorites and definite party crowd pleasers!

  • I bought the Honeycomb flavor and was blown away. The buttery caramel flavor mixed with the honeycomb bits is an absolutely winning combination.
