  • Overhyped, Overpriced, and Artificial – Surreal Cereal Is a Health Hazard I gave Surreal cereal an honest try – bought all 8 flavours – and every single one ended up in the bin. Why? Because these cereals are loaded with artificial sweeteners that not only taste disgusting, but actually made me feel sick. The aftertaste is unbearable – a mix of chemicals and fake vanilla trying (and failing) to taste like something remotely enjoyable. Let’s be clear: Surreal is not some healthy alternative to cereal. It’s just an overpriced bowl of artificial junk, dressed up with slick marketing. These aren’t “zero sugar” cereals – they’re chemical cocktails disguised as health food. I’d take plain porridge any day over this so-called “revolution” in breakfast. At least it doesn’t come with a headache and nausea. To make matters worse, when I tried to share my honest review elsewhere, it was removed – clearly they don’t want real opinions out there. That speaks volumes. If you’re thinking of trying Surreal, save your money. This is not food – it’s an experiment, and your body doesn’t deserve to be the test subject

  • Can’t believe how small the pack was when it arrived Complete rip off!!!

  • Didn’t even finish my first bowl before binning the whole box. Despite having 0 sugar, the cereal is unbearably sweet because it’s pumped full of Sweeteners which leave a terrible aftertaste that make feel ill. Google the research done on the sweetener that’s used - it ain’t good for you. Why not just get rid of the sweeteners and replace with a tiny bit of actual sugar/honey or the likes?!

  • Very bland, processed flavours and awful texture. For the cost per box you would expect a way better product, but sadly it is all just branding and the product itself is very very poor

  • Tastes weird , like artificial sweetener with really nasty aftertaste - wouldn’t eat it again

  • as someone who's been vegan and on the sugar free diet for many years - it's difficult to find a product that focuses on both those qualities, upon coming across this item, i am happy to say i very much look forward to having a lil portion a day, the taste as well as texture is right up my alley and hope these stay around for a long time i agree that they're a lil on the pricey side but in my opinion, they're worth it

  • I really tried so hard to get on with these but had to bin them in the end. They are low on sugar and carbs, but they are higher in caleries (+sweetner) than regular cereal. They are hard (felt like eating cat buscuits) which are not softended after longer exposure to milk. The biggest issue with it is the aftertaste of sweetner doesn't go away after several hours. The flavours repeat on you, and I actually felt poisioned after eating them -- like the feeling you get during a hangover. I stupidly tried all 4 flavours and pretty much felt similar after each. Also as a side note, they come in really small boxes for the money, you would be lucky to get 5 bowls out of each box unless you ration them, which works out around £1.35 per bowl if you include delivery. Whilst I'm at it, I might as well mention I also got incorrect delivery notifications coming from Surreal when ordered, and they also will never respond to emails. I just can't find anything redeeming about Surreal at all sorry folks, apart from the apparent "free mustache" you can cut out of the box! :D

  • It's incredibly sweet. Far, far too sweet. The sweetness lingers for so long in the mouth after even just a few pieces. They could halve the sweetener, for sure, and it'd be better for it. Texture is okay, box is tiny, price is high.

  • Went for the cocoa and I’m not even interested in tasting the others. The taste is so great that I’m craving for these at times. Like many others, I’m deducting a star due to pack size. They can’t really expect us to make them last a whole week. 3-4 days and it’s done

  • What a cereal! Love the the Cinnamon flavour. Packaging is also eye catching and quirky. Absolutely unreal.

  • I love the brand. I love the flavours. I love the health benefits. I don't love the portion sizes.

But the price point is very high and the amount of cereal you get is ridiculously bad. Honestly, I'll get through that box in two servings. When you charge so much, the expectation is higher. It is a shame, as slightly putting me off buying another pack. Hopefully this can be resolved as otherwise, everything is great!

  • But sweet for a traditional cereal, plus Recomended portion size seems a little small, but that said, for a post protein workout snack adding a couple of spoons of Greek yogurt they are delicious. I also have a crisp addiction and so a handful in the afternoon stops me from reaching for crisps or biscuits. Will buy again.

  • Incredibly tasty and actually good for you. Immense.

Different shapes? More flavours? Abit cheaper? But look. We knit picking here.

  • Have been eating Surreal cereal most mornings for the last couple of months. Have tried all the flavours but cocoa and peanut butter come way out on top for me. I found cinnamon and berry too sweet and frosted too salty. I love the macro profile and perhaps the best thing is the crunch. These guys never go soggy even when left swimming in milk for up to 15 minutes (yep, my breakfast was interrupted by a phone call one morning). Whilst 32g does look like a small portion, due to its high protein content, it keeps the hunger away until lunchtime and beyond. (And, actually, if you weigh out a 40-45g portion of "standard" high sugar cereal, this also looks tiny AND you are hungry again by mid-morning AND you have consumed a crazy amount of sugar.) As with all higher protein products, it is a bit pricey but the easy to set up and manage subscription service does reduce the cost a little. In summary: Surreal is yum!

The cocoa flavour could be more chocolatey. Get rid of the inner plastic bag - a paper one would work just as well.

  • Very tasty, good combo of macros to not feel guilty or even incorporate into the diet on regular basis.

    Feedback

The box says it contains 7 portions- I could get 2-3 only, which makes it too expensive for me. The protein itself comes from a protein isolate. This means I get the same nutrition from oats + protein powder for probably ~50-70% lower price.

  • Awful. Taste is about passable. Induced stomach cramps, bloating and completely upset digestion for days, after eating. My partner, myself and others we know who have eaten the cereal all experienced the same stomach cramps and digestion issue. We’re now stuck with boxes of expensive product we’re too scared to eat (yeh, we couldn’t try one box, they make you buy in bulk) Considering the brand claims it’s high price point is due to high quality healthy ingredients, the fine print shows it contains “Isomaltooligosaccharide” which has a digestion-resistant property. Side effects can include “ flatulence, bloating, soft stool or diarrhea.” If you’re looking for a healthy, protein rich snack. Don’t buy this cereal. Save your money. Save your health. You’re better off having a protein shake and enjoy the cereal you love in a balanced diet.

Remove the ingredients that are digestion-resistant and can cause flatulence, bloating, soft stool or diarrhea. Or at least warn people.

  • Delicious cereal, really fun branding and playful.

    Feedback

Would be good if it was more accessible — would love to be able to nip to the shops and pick up a box in the supermarket.

  • I love this cereal, it has totally changed my morning. I am really lazy so never want to make breakfast and always end up grabbing something on the go which is expensive and definitely less good for me. Surreal is high protein, super quick and easy, and I get about 4 servings per pack so works out pretty reasonable too! Oh and did I mention it tastes great - honestly can't believe it can be so nice and still be good for you.

    Feedback

I think they need to make the cereal a bit less dense... the first time I tried it I poured a normal looking portion and it was SO filling - it was also like half the pack! So a good change would be to make a portion size visually the same as a traditional cereal. I think the flavour is great but some of it does wash off in the milk - not such a problem for chocolate - who doesn't like chocolate milk? I would also say - frosted is not my favourite flavour - I wish I could create my own mixed pack and avoid frosted but I'm currently rocking a 4x cinnamon pack and loving it.

  • Great product, tastes amazing and the nutritional content is perfect for me. I train 3-4x a week but I still want to indulge on something now and again. The protein content is such a benefit.

    Feedback

I wish there was a bit more in a box. It's my go-to cereal so I run out too quickly!

  • The initial taste is ok but the more you chew, the weirder it gets…halfway through it starts to taste bad and the aftertaste is pretty gross too.
