I've only tried the pistachio bar from this brand, and it's so amazing. I love that most of the bar is made up of pistachios, so it tastes like I'm eating the nut except in a way more convenient form. If you love pistachios like I do, you have to try it.
I love cashews, and the cashew bar I had from South Forty Snacks tasted just fine, but the price is astronomical for something that is at its core sugar, honey and nuts. The ingredients are very basic, so $2.50 per bar (price charged at Sprouts in San Diego) seems exorbitant for what is essentially 65% nuts (per the wrapper) with glucose syrup, sugar, and honey. And since it's sourced from Greece (as the wrapper says), I can't see how these bars are good for the environment since they (or at least their key ingredient) have to be shipped halfway around the world when there are likely local sources available. If I were to rate this on taste alone it would be four stars, but the cost and environmental impact make alternatives—including homemade—a better option.
You can see the bar is made of quality ingredients through its clear packaging. It reminds me of peanut brittle, instead, it's full of almonds. Whole almonds coated made the bar hard to bite into but it is crispy and crunchy. It is simply delicious!
South Forty Snacks sells a variety of simple, plant-based snacks.
