SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

A sweet and/or sour treat to fill that craving of yours! Such an amazing alternative to candies that are filled with lots of sugar and additives. I could not recommend this brand enough :)

More candies in the package, I always fill like there is never enough in a package or maybe I eat them too fast lol

I like the idea of the brand a lot and the packaging is so cute and fun. It's a market needed by many for health and/or lifestyle reasons but it just misses the mark for me. I've tried the rings and worms and the surface texture is extremely offputting and they stick to your teeth so much. They're not chewy, they're sticky. I'm not even sensitive to texture like that but it was just not pleasurable at all. I actually threw them away after coming back to them over the course of a few days and feeling the same way. But overall I can appreciate how this company makes sweets accessible for people who need a low-sugar or plant-based alternative.

The formula of the gummies is so sticky and unsatisfying. Please make them firmer and chewier. The flavor is not bad it's all texture.

The packaging is super Cute and it is convenient that you can buy it at some grocery stores. The flavor was pretty good I tried a regular gummy bear and a sour gummy but texture wise they were a little less soft than normal gummy candy. Overall it was a relatively good substitute for being healthier but it didn’t 100% fulfill my want for a gummy

The flavor is artificial tasting to me. I tried the cola gummies, the peach rings and the red twists, maybe the hard candy is better but the chewy ones have a strange and unpleasant taste. The texture is great though. I will say a friend of mine likes them and recommended this brand to me.

I've tried sour melon bites, fruit gummy bears, and gummy worms and have enjoyed all of them. I think that the product that you get is really great, but the price can be hard to justify at times.

I think that having more variety of non-sour fruit flavors would be really great. Strawberry specifically comes to mind!

I love what the brand stands for, the product is simple and direct. The taste I think could be improved to not be quite as artificial...but it does serve the right purpose!

Taste, gumminess

Love several of their different candies! Love that this brand is lower in sugars and still has great taste!

I really like these as an alternative to the super sugary candy you’d find at the store but I wish the packages was slightly larger.

Make slightly larger packages!

I love the idea of being able to pick up a pack of candy in an impulsive sweet-tooth moment, without feeling guilty about it after. The packaging is cute and stands out on the shelf. It's amazing to have parallels for so many of my favorite candies.

Some of the candies' flavors have sour way out of balance with sweet, and I really like sour! The peach rings, especially, are so sour they are almost bitter, without the sweet finish of typical peach rings. I also think the texture could improve- I've only tried the vegan options and they very much stick to your teeth. But the real issue is that the price-point is just unrealistic; as I said before, candy is an impulse buy, and these are way too expensive to push me over the edge to purchase. I've been searching for vegan cola bottle candies for years and even though Smart Sweets released those months ago, I've yet to try them because every time I consider it, it's just too crazy to spend $10 for 5oz vs $2.99 for the same amount of Sour Patch kids. Honestly, even if the price came down to $8, I'd probably make the leap.

The packaging was on point, looked great and completely sold me on a low calorie no sugar clone of sour patch kids. Ugh, very disappointed in the lack of sweetness to these. I've had no sugar products before and most of the time they're too sweet.

Find a new sweetener, maybe try different ones.

healthier alternative to regular candy, but the texture is off for me

Bigger pack maybe?

I enjoy gummy candies of all kinds. This candy definitely has more of a sticky chew to it. I have tried the Swedish fish, sour patch kids, and peach rings. They’re not bad, and for only 2 grams of sugar per serving, they’re worth buying. Not replacing the real deal by any means.

The take on swedish fish is delicious and the packaging is super sturdy which has helped as I personally throw these in my pack for long runs.

I was super excited to try our smart sweets. I have quite the sweet tooth and often crave a sweet after a meal.
Feedback
Obviously these are meant to be a healthier version, but the peach gummies felt almost stale because of how hard they are to chew. I have bought a few packs giving them the benefit of the doubt but if you are looking to satisfy a sweet tooth, these do in a pinch but they aren’t quite perfected yet.

I like the candy without all the sugar on it

Maybe the price point is not the most convenient for everybody

These sweet and sour treats are my go-to when I need a little indulgence. I love that they are plant-based and vegan-friendly. It's also a good feeling to support a female-owned business. A great treat with a sweet vibe!

Larger packaging?

I started ordering Smart Sweets when I was on the Keto diet as a way to curb sugar cravings - I really like the Swedish Fish and the Licorice flavors. However, I wasn't a big fan of the sour varieties or gummy bears. I do think these taste pretty good on their own as a replacement to candy - but they are not a 1:1 substitute, given that they are much less sugary and artificially flavored. I enjoy the taste though, and they don't give the fake sugar aftertaste that many other brands have.

I love candy, must have eaten millions of them. This smart sweet is the worst candy I ever tasted. It tastes like plastic with sour powder on it. I put some in my mouth, and spit all of it out in the parking lot. It's horrible, never eat it. Get the hershey's and reeces cups with stevia instead of this garbage.

Eat anything but this stuff

I've tried so many flavors but it still does not do it for me. Watermelon ones have an unpleasant aftertaste.
