SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

They're alright! Lots of flavors to choose from but you can't escape the fake sugar / sugar alcohol taste. Becoming more affordable now that they aren't the only low sugar candy options.

Smart sweets are a great little snack for when you're craving sugar, but still looking for a healthier option! I also love how they come in small packages and the serving size is one bag. If you're a snacker with a sweet tooth like me, that's perfect to help curb cravings and keep me from eating too many at one time lol. I will say some of the flavors taste a little weird at first and will take some getting used to - depends on your taste preferences at the end of the day - but overall I love the way these taste. They're also really good to grab and go for a healthy sweet snack to keep in your bag.

I love the idea behind this brand, but the candies are not the best. With some of them, they have odd textures and the flavors just aren’t there. it almost makes you crave the real candy even more.

The hottest alternative to candy for fitness driven people. These sweets make us feel normal and a great choice when you don’t want to feel like you’re restricting yourself but enjoy a sweet snack or need a boost of energy in the gym.

My boyfriend and I eat SmartSweets every single night. We are OBSESSED. Sugar has become something we both crave at night, yet we also know how bad that can be for you and try to avoid it as much as possible. Finding SmartSweets has allowed us to enjoy the idea of a sweet gummy candy and not have to worry about the amount of sugar! My favs would have to be the Sweet Fish and the Sourmelon Bites. I really want to try the Red Twists!

All of the candies are good, some are a little sticky when you chew them. But overall a great option for a low sugar candy.

I picked up a bag of the peach gummy rings and gummy worms before watching a movie. The best description I have for them is: you can tell they are low-sugar candies by the look and taste. The gummy rings looked flat, felt solid and when biting into them, stuck all around my teeth like a Now and Later. Overall, they were alright and ended up finishing the bag. I kinda wish that they were aiming to make candies that fulfilled the craving for a certain candy without trying to fully replicate that candy; eg. I wished they went for something peachy flavor and chewy instead of trying to mimic peach rings flat out.

I wanted to love smartsweets but I don't. The texture is off and trying to market as comparable but healthier alternative doesn't work if the taste and texture are wrong.

Can you make a healthier, tastier treat than the real deal?! I don't think it's possible.

Delicious "guilt-free" candies that taste just as good, if not better, than the real thing.

I love that the company is female-founded and that they care about gender equity. I also like the brand's messaging. Even though SmartSweets sells low-sugar healthier alternatives to popular candies, they don't preach diet culture and instead place an emphasis on creating a healthier relationship with candy that allows you to indulge in your cravings. One thing that I do wish, however, is that they would invest in more eco-friendly packaging.

I really wanted to like this! But they miss the mark. Too chewy, not a good flavor, and ultimately does not scratch the itch that a good sour patch kid or peach ring does when you need that candy kick. T

The gumminess needs to be there! These get stuck in your teeth and are too hard to chew. The sour is not sour enough - we want that citric acid!

I had high hopes for this since I have a sweet tooth but it fell a bit short. The candy definitely has an aftertaste but I guess it partially satisfies the craving

The overall flavor could be a bit better

When they hit, they hit! But when they miss, they really miss. I really do love the swedish fish dupes, they taste amazing! Some of the other flavors for the other candies still need work. I love this concept and I'm excited to see how they ideate!

I like these candies. I would say some of the flavours are not my favourite. I find some of them to be extremely chewy. Not the good kind of chewy they stick to your teeth and can’t get it off kind of chewy. I still eat them from time to time. Though they are not the first candy alternative I reach for.
Feedback
I’m not sure what is in the formula that makes it extremely chewy I would modify that because I feel like it can be frustrating to eat a bag of candy and have it stuck on your teeth for so long after.

I absolutely LOVE everything smart sweets puts out. The consistency is fantastic and the flavor is spot on. My ONLY issue is the price. It is so outrageous for the amount you get. I have no issue with spending more money for better quality products/products that align with my lifestyle. That being said, I also don't want to feel ripped off. Cost is the only reason my house isn't stocked with these
Feedback
Too pricey for the amount received!

The calorie difference wasn't significant enough for me to sacrifice the taste of the original Swedish Fish (one of my favorite candies) with the SmartSweets version. It also felt tougher to chew.

I would recommend this to someone who is a candy fanatic but is really trying to limit their sugar intake. I have candy very infrequently, so it's not worth it to me, but I can definitely see its place on the market.

Had the gummy worms. Good flavour, but found overall expensive for the quantity you get.

I've really enjoyed the few flavors (Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sour Melon Bites) I've had so far. The flavors are spot on for me, and the consistency-of-chew is great. It's nice knowing I'm not sucking down a ton of sugar, too. That said, these aren't exactly carb-lite; you might consider these a lesser evil.

I can't say exactly how these might compare to their OG confectionary analogs...I'm no swedish fish master, for example. But I do think they stand on their own as very, very good candy. 4-stars because they're pretty great but – from my own, personal perspective – they're silly expensive for candy, so much so that if I needed a fix, I might just reach for the original, plain ole sugary thing.

Great snack anytime if day. Low sugar with great flavor. The packaging is fun eye catching. The package easily fits in my day bag. Great product
Feedback
It would be good if the company sold a 5 pack of flavors.

Loved the flavor and packaging! They also have a wonderful promotions team on Instagram!

A bit chewy, but that is probably expected given that it’s mock candy. I haven’t had regular candy in a bit -thanks to smart sweets!- but it’s probably chewy, too.
