Reviews mention

  • Elegant, minimalist packaging aesthetic
  • Light, refreshing flavor profiles
  • Notably calming, subtle effect
  • Versatile nonalcoholic cocktail alternative
  • Inconsistent functional effects
  • Faint, sometimes medicinal flavors
  • Occasional bitter aftertaste
  • Soft, low carbonation mouthfeel

Recess earns mixed reviews: the brand delivers light, refreshing flavors, sleek packaging, and for many a subtle calming effect, yet it polarizes on taste intensity and the consistency of functional benefits. Reviews praise Strawberry Rose, Blood Orange, Peach Ginger, Blackberry Chai, and coconut lime, but cite faint or medicinal flavors, occasional aftertaste, low carbonation, and uneven “mood” effects—leaving some to view it as elevated seltzer rather than a reliably functional drink.

  • Tasty! Did not notice any effects after drinking a full can. Maybe 2 next time? 8/10 ⭐️

  • While on one of my sprees to cut alcohol out of my life, I decided to do some research into hemp-infused products. I landed on Recess because it had some decent reviews online and they were running a pretty good promotion. The flavors are decent, but I wouldn't say they're delicious. I ended up adding some mango nectar in at the bottom and it makes it taste way better. As for the calming effects, I can't say I experienced a noticeable improvement, but it was nice to open up a can and mix up a little "mocktail" for myself at the end of the day. If it were more affordable, I would most likely be a repeat customer.

    Pricing is a little steep.

  • I saw this sparkling water at Good Foods Co-op and was curious to try as I am on a hard 75 challenge and can't drink alcoholic drinks at the moment. The one that caught my eye the most was the Blood Orange as it highlighted the "mood" which intrigued me. I was very surprised at the taste as it was like an orange creamsicle. I was blown away. And I am definitely hooked as far as taste. When it comes to the mood portion, I didn't realize any definitive changes in my mood but it was fun to try and a great taste so I would definitely buy other flavors to try for a treat!

    Feedback

Not much to improve upon in my opinion. I loved the experience and the only thing was that I didn't feel any mood changes.

  • These are overall good. They taste good and aren't super sweet or bitter... they're a happy medium. I wish there were still options, but the carbonation isn't too extreme. I'm not sure I felt more "zen" but it was a good alternative to a soda. It is a bit pricey and probably won't become my go-to drink.

Still options, maybe bundle options for a deal.

  • Do these hit like a CBD gummy or supplement? No … I’m not sure if it’s placebo effect but even if it is … I like the outcome either way (the outcome being chill-er 40 minutes after finishing can) They taste good too

  • It was okay. I wouldn’t actively seek this brand out. It’s too expensive and there’s better sparkling water out there. You do get a slight “chill” effect from the hemp, but not enough to deem it worth it in my eyes. I tried the orange one and the flavor wasn’t bad, but I just didn’t love it. The packaging is cute tho

    Feedback

Price, quality, maybe something more interesting than just cute packaging.

  • The drinks taste good and I love Recess' branding and packaging, but they are too expensive. I don't notice enough of an effect to make it worth it.

    Feedback

If there were discounted packs I would buy Recess more often.

  • Tastes good but it's really just sparkling water. Ingredients are in insufficient quality for mood impact. Cans are pretty. Flavors are better than other options, which is where it shines.

    Feedback

    Claims are dubious.

  • Recess was my first ever CBD drink and I really felt relaxed. I'd buy it again, and they have a really fun website.

    Feedback

The price per can is pretty high.

  • I enjoy picking up a Recess when I see it at the grocery store, but they're not a drink I go out of my way for. The flavors are decent and the variety is unique. I don't feel a difference with the CBD.

    Feedback

Some of the flavors are a little boring, they could definitely push to different areas of flavor development.

  • It definitely works, and it tastes good! Just a little on the expensive side, so I only get it every now and then

    Feedback

    More affordable pricing

  • I'm a huge fan of health beverages but felt this one fell short -- overall tastes slightly watered down! I still love the packaging and concept of incorporating CBD but would not buy this particularly for the taste

    Feedback

    Stronger flavors

  • Truly do not know what witchery this brand is selling. I have tried every flavor and not experienced any of the "functional" benefits. It's a pretty millennial brand without much use beyond aesthetic.

    Feedback

Doesn't taste that great, especially if not ice cold.

  • LOVE recess, probably my favorite indie CPG non-alcoholic beverage

  • Really obsessed with this brand overall — they have such a beautiful website, fantastic online presence, amazing pop-ups, perfect packaging. So I was a fan for a while before I finally bought a sampler pack. I was crushed to find that most of the flavors kind of tasted like ass. Out of the 6 flavors I tried, I really only liked one of them. I think I was also so distracted by the strange flavors — the coconut one tasted like sunscreen in my mouth, and blackberry chai is one of the weirdest flavor combos I've experienced to date — that I really didn't sense much of the "balance and clarity" I expected from the hemp and adaptogens. Overall still a fan of the brand and refer to them often, but until they come out with new flavors, I won't touch the stuff. I realize that flavor is truly subjective, so take that with a grain of salt. Who knows, it might be your next favorite adaptogenic beveráge.

Flavors were funky, not in a good way. Considering how oversaturated the sparkling water market is right now, I was disappointed.

  • It was really good, I really enjoyed it.

  • Recently tried one of these before bed. Strawberry rose flavor actually smelled stronger than the taste. Smells like a lollipop, no hint of rose. It was good and calming, not a buzz thing. $3.29 a can so I won't likely buy again

  • I have tried the Recess powders and canned drinks. In powdered mixes I love the mixed berry flavor and my favorite of the canned drinks is the Strawberry Rose.
