Reviews mention

  • Innovative dual-sip mouthpiece
  • Excellent cold-retention insulation
  • Secure locking, leak-resistant lid
  • Durable, drop-resistant construction
  • Heavy stainless steel bodies
  • Cupholder-incompatible larger sizes
  • Mold-prone silicone insert
  • Occasional straw detachment issue

Owala earns strong reviews as a high-performing, leak-resistant hydration brand whose FreeSip lid—offering both straw and chug options—makes drinking intuitive and keeps beverages cold for hours. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some sizes don’t fit cup holders, components can be tricky to clean with mold-prone silicone and occasional straw detachment, certain bottles feel heavy or top‑heavy, and isolated reports cite rust, paint chipping, instability in a tumbler, and leaks if unlocked.

  • I used to be a diehard Hydroflask girl, but Owala is now my new go-to. I love that there’s two ways to drink from it and love the fun colors it comes in!

  • Simply the best water bottle in the game. Stylish, convenient, easy to clean, keeps water cold. Their new tumbler is great, but the regular FreeSip bottle is the best.

  • This is the best water bottle I've ever used. I take this everywhere with me and it actually keeps cold stuff cold. This is one of the best gifts you can gift.

  • love owala i love that most of their bottles are leakproof and the colors are so fun

  • I’ve never been a brand loyalist for water bottles until this brand. Amazing for healthcare workers. Will never go back to another brand

  • I love this water bottle because of the internal straw feature. My only qualm is that if you drop the water bottle, the top pops open.

  • I am absolutely hooked on my Owala water bottle. I debated getting one for a year and I have no idea why I waited so long. It is the most practical water bottle I own; and it doesn't leak!! The biggest benefit I have found is that I can easy be moving around and drink from the spout because you don't have to tilt it at all, which also makes it easier to stay hydrated while driving! I 100% recommended this water bottle to anyone that asks (or doesn't ask)!

  • Completely obsessed with my FreeSip water bottle. I like that you have the option to either sip from the straw or drink from the spout. Also in love with the super fun colour combinations. I´ve already convinced two friends to get one. Can´t recommend it enough!!!

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE WATERBOTTLE EVER! My boyfriend got me this water bottle back in 2021, and it's amazing! The mouthpiece is covered, and there is two different ways to drink! I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT

  • 10/10 would recommend. Fun colors, insulated, and doesn’t have a ludicrously capacious mouth. Yay.

  • I just recently switched from my hydroflask to the Owala freesip and its my new favorite thing. It keeps my water cold for hours and I like that it has a straw or the chug option. The lock mechanism is also perfect and the cap over the mouthpiece helps keep it much cleaner than my hydroflask. Overall very happy with my new water bottle.

  • The Owala Freesip is, indisputably, the best water bottle ever. I've recommended this water bottle to at least 5 people at this point, and everyone has loved it! My boyfriend, who does not care about water bottlers as much as I do, has said it is a revelation. I converted to being a water bottle sipper in an attempt to quit vaping a couple years ago, since it was a (much) healthier alternative that still succeeded in satisfying my oral fixation. On the other hand, sometimes, I still want the option to chug, like when I'm trying to swallow a large amount of pills. The metal freesips have really good insulation, and have kept my water cold for an entire day. They are durable, with one particular metal freesip of mine surviving a 50+ foot drop down a small cliff with only a small dent to its name. They come in really fun colors as well, with the only downside being they are relatively heavy (comparable to hydroflasks) and the larger sizes (32oz and above) do not fit in a car cupholder. I recently also acquired the Tritan plastic freesip, which I might love even more due to it's lighter weight, cheaper price, and greater portability. I hope this company keeps innovating because I am a loyal customer and lose my bottles often (lol). I'm slowly phasing out my bottles from other brands and will continue to buy the Freesips for as long as you keep making <3

Larger Freesip sizes that are car-compatible! Other than that, nothing - genuinely love your brand and happy to see you expand into so many stores.

  • The 24oz is the perfect size! I love my owala, and I don't usually use straws in my water bottles. Having the option to use the straw or not is a a game changer. I've had no spills/leaks and it's pretty easy to clean. My only note is that if you wear anything on your lips like chapstick, lipgloss, lipstick, etc you'll need to wipe it off the mouth piece otherwise the rubber stopper at the top can get kinda gross. You'll also have to make sure you clean the stopper really well (I suggest soaking it in vinegar/water) be cause it can accumulate mold easily if you aren't mindful.

  • My current emotional support water bottle is the 24oz freesip. I’ve taken it to the gym, work, travel, and pretty much everywhere in between. I have zero complaints and find the straw/sip too kinda cool

  • I received a free 24oz bottle a few years ago during one of Owala's annual birthday deals and it is such a great bottle that I purchased a 32oz recently for the warmer, thirstier months. It keeps my water ice cold and I love that I can chug or sip my water from the same bottle. I have accidentally doused myself in water over the years drinking from reusable water bottles, but this bottle is very easy to use due to the built-in straw sipper. Easy to clean as well and they are always coming out with fun new colorways during their Color Drops.

  • I am obsessed with my Owala. I don't think I will ever need another water bottle. It keeps my drinks and ice cold for hours and is very sturdy. I have dropped it multiple times with no dents. The best part is the lid. The fact that you can drink in different ways with the hidden straw and open mouth is a game changer. I also love that you can hold it by the handle or use the handle to lock it. This thing has NEVER leaked on me!! While the 32 oz bottle cannot fit in a cup holder right-side up, you can put it in upside down, and with no leaks, I do this all the time. The different colors and color drops throughout the year make it a really fun thing to collect as well. I only have one currently but am excited to get more! I have converted many friends and family members over to Team Owala.

  • I truly cannot say enough good things about this water bottle. The grey & white one I use is chic, keeps water cold, is easy to wash, and is just so easy to drink out of. I just wish they would produce more neutral colors, but honestly, that's not important enough to me to not give them a 5 star review. My favorite water bottle of all time and the only one I have never lost, because I love it so much!

  • Was recommended Owala by a friend and I absolutely love it! I take my water bottle everywhere with me, and I find the straw plus the sip design to make it way easier to consume water. It keeps my water super cold, and hasn't leaked once.

  • Only water bottle I will use. I have the free sip and the 40oz stainless steel with handle, neither leaks when tipped over and keeps my drinks cold. I have dropped my free sip hundreds of times and it still works perfectly, not a single spill. I like the free sip straw the best since it is a wider lip and don’t need to purse my lips as much to sip the water. I have been using the free sip for 3 years now and have gotten my entire family hooked. Love the fun colors and great quality!

  • Owala is awesome! I've switched from Hydroflask as I had some issues with their bottle refusing to keep water cold or ice still frozen for a while (insulation issue). The Owala bottle is just a water bottle, but the FreeSip cap/straw combination makes the bottle fun to use and easy to clean. Win-win. And the colors are awesome.
