Reviews mention

  • Refined, natural-leaning fragrances
  • Gentle, sensitive-skin formulas
  • Smooth, comfortable application
  • Attractive, sustainable packaging
  • Inconsistent odor protection longevity
  • White residue and shirt staining
  • Occasional gritty, sticky texture
  • Body wash sometimes feels drying

Native earns praise for clean ingredients, standout scents (Coconut & Vanilla, Cucumber & Mint, Lilac & White Tea, Citrus & Herbal Musk) and comfortable, non-irritating wear for many, but reviews say performance is inconsistent: the deodorant often fades by midday, struggles in heat/workouts, can leave white residue or shirt stains, and some experience rashes or gritty texture. Reviews of body wash and hair care skew positive for gentle lather and pleasant aromas, though a few find body wash drying and shampoos underwhelming. Overall, Native is a good natural option if you don’t sweat heavily and will reapply; heavy sweaters may need stronger protection.

  • I purchases a mini native deodorant from target for a trip. It was cute and smelled nice so I didn't think much of it, however, after 2 days of use on my trip I noticed that my underarms were red and sore. I immediately found a store and purchased my typical deodorant. After I stopped using native I noticed that the redness and soreness went away. It was disappointing because the native one did smell very nice, but the rash was not worth it to me.

  • I used natural deodorant for years with no issues. Then suddenly I started breaking out - like painfully so- and what I used just stopped working... I stunk. Native makes Sensitive products and I switched and haven't looked back. You can get them easily at Target or Walgreens in my area. It's not $4, but it's natural and works great for me and my sensitive pits.

Works great for me. The only thing I would change is to see scents be kept around on the website... the day Target stops carrying Grapefruit & Bergamot is gonna be a sad one for me.

  • Native is lame. Doesn’t really prevent odor. It’s easy to get at Target or any grocery store, but the price is way too high. Not worth it in my opinion as there are other better and more sustainable brands for the same price. ** This product could be a good transition for someone trying to switch from aluminum deodorants because the texture/consistency and even the shopping experience is similar.

I noticed during the holidays they released a couple of festive scents. One of them was eggnog and I don’t remember the other. The Native section of the shelf was completely wiped, except for the two holiday scents. This is highly unsustainable and wasteful. Doing way too much. And for what?

  • Overall a great alternative deodorant that provides a nice, mild scent that doesn't fade too much throughout the day. I have tried a variety of Native deodorants and while some scents are better than others (as is the case with all deodorant), I have settled on one for every day use - Eucalyptus and Mint. The only knock on it is the higher price point, but you can find deals pretty regularly.

Try multiple scents to see what works best for you.

  • I love that this kind of product exists! It smells amazing I just wish it worked better for me.

    Feedback

Honestly somehow it left me smelling worse than if I didn’t wear anything. I’ve been told it takes a while for your body to get used to it but during summer heat I didn’t want everyone to have to deal with my smell. I expected better for the price tag.

  • Coconut Vanilla Deodorant

    Feedback

I don’t sweat much and rarely have a need for an anti- perspirant. Native is perfect for my needs. The scent of the coconut vanilla is subtle and the texture is smooth. The deodorants come in travel size that are perfect for get away weekends and vacations.

  • I have only used Native's deodorant but enjoyed the scent and that they have plastic-free container options. There are some big drawbacks with the plastic-free packaging, though, which has me searching for a better alternative.

    Feedback

I wish there was an easier way to use up the entire deodorant when it is in the cardboard packaging. At a certain point, my fingers aren't long enough to push the container any further and I'm stuck with almost empty tubes.

  • I had a so-so experience with the deodorant, I tried it out for a semester, and I just don’t think aluminum free deodorant work for me. I will say I have had some friends who have had great success with native, but I think a large part depends on how active you are.

    Feedback

I think if you’re using it as a day-to-day deodorant, it would work fine. Having said that if you’re doing heavy workouts or extended period of time that you will be sweating, I might try elsewhere.

  • So my experience with Native has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Started out loving their deodorant for a few weeks (the scents are AMAZING) however my underarms started breaking out so I switched to their sensitive skin option and that also made me break out in a rash. It does on smooth and smells really wonderful but there’s some type of ingredient that just doesn’t jive with my sensitive skin. Luckily I can still use the body wash and enjoy the nice scents.

I have used their deodorant in the past but it was very brief, however, I do love to use their body wash. The range of scents is good and I believe the size of the bottle is great and the price isn’t terrible either as it lasts a good amount of time if only one person is using it!

  • I used Native's Lilac and White Tea body wash and it smells so good. I like that the scent is very light and not too overpowering or artificial. I also like that the bottle is substantially sized so I'm not constantly rebuying body wash because it contains a normal amount of product.

    Feedback

Although I have not tried other products from Native, such as their deodorant, I will say that their body wash was a great product, but it didn't blow me away. It smelled good, but at the end of the day it was just body wash.

  • Good deodorant with innovative smells but for the price I don't find this is good value. There are a handful of competiting brands that offer better results, better smells and better value for the price point.

  • I have sensitive skin and these products didn't irritate them. I also love the clean fresh fragrances and knowing that the ingredients are non toxic.

    Feedback

I wish they had better antiperspirant properties. I still sweat a lot when wearing it.

  • I really love the look of the packaging, but have had a hard time finding a formula from them that does not give me a rash :(

  • I like the idea of Native, but am not a huge fan of natural deodorant. I've used the deodorant as well as the shampoo and conditioner, and I like the scents (grapefruit, bergamot, etc.).

    Feedback

Native was one of the first 'all-natural' brands that I used when it first came out, but now the natural deodorant niche is much more saturated and there really isn't anything that differentiates Native from the rest.

  • Five stars for a great shampoo and conditioner! My hair is very fine, and a lot of shampoos do not mix well with my hair. However, Native works exceptionally well on my fine wavy hair and my partner's coarse hair. I love their unisex scents. I am currently crushing on their fresh mistletoe scent, but have also enjoyed the coconut & vanilla.

  • Works really well. Not an antiperspirant so I still sweat, but better than other aluminum-free deodorants I have tried.

    Feedback

Really like that they moved into plastic-free packing :) It is a bit expensive tho

  • I love the smell and the feel of the deodorant, but they don't work for me. After a few hours they wear off... not worth the $$$

  • Liked the scent options but found the formula lacking. Almost every other natural deodorant I tried worked better for me. I like the branding and the website. The scent drops are fun. Just didn't work for me.

    Feedback

I think some formulas work better for some than others. This one just wasn't for me.

  • I bought the Powder & Cotton and Eucalyptus & Mint scents. This deodorant is pretty pricey at $13 but that seems standard for aluminum-free "clean" deodorants. The scents are great, the packaging is clean and looks pretty, and I enjoy putting it on.

    Feedback

I gave it a 3 because I'll probably continue purchasing it but can't tell if it works well. I think realistically I need a stronger deodorant or antiperspirant formula than what baking soda can provide - it usually works for an hour or two and then I start to sweat normally and smell again. I don't have the time or energy to reapply as much as I need. It also does leave white streaks and clumps quickly if I put on too much. But I like that the brand sets itself apart with good scents and generally this is the best-working "clean" deodorant I've ever used, so as long as that continues to be a selling point for me, I'll probably buy Native.
