Reviews mention

  • Minimalist aesthetic, cohesive design
  • Beloved gel pens, smooth ink
  • Durable acrylic storage organizers
  • Calming, elevated in‑store ambiance
  • Inconsistent apparel quality, fit
  • Limited color variety, neutral palette
  • Occasional pen smudging or skipping
  • Underwhelming cleaning tools, suitcases

Muji wins strong reviews for minimalist, well‑made essentials that generally perform—from beloved 0.38–0.5 gel pens and high‑quality notebooks to durable organizers, travel containers, diffusers, and select apparel—yet the brand draws criticism for inconsistent clothing quality/fit, occasional product misses (cleaning tools, some suitcases), and prices that feel high for basics. Reviews also praise the serene in‑store experience and timeless design while noting limited color variety and that certain items smudge or skip, so discerning shoppers should target stationery, storage, travel accessories, and home goods over more variable categories.

  • Best travel containers, kitchen wares, and stationery (and also affordable). Their furniture and clothing is nice too!

  • Muji has my entire heart and then some. Their online ordering is incredible and the products are priced perfect and last forever. They also have the best travel containers ever

  • Fun place to shop in the city. Almost no online presence and seem to be winding down inventory. Super unimpressed when I returned recently and couldn’t find refills for past purchases.

  • I love Muji—affordable, minimal, practical. Their stationery is amazing, all the clothes I've ever purchased have held up for years, and I enjoy the clean, Japanese minimalism. I just wish they kept more stores open in the states!

  • I always knew of Muji stationary, and used the mechanical pencils in school, but the household stuff is even better in my opinion! The essential oil diffuser is great, it covers a large area and the Muji oils smell awesome and leave a long-lasting subtle scent too. I also really like the feel of the stoneware bowls. Haven't tried any of the clothing but Muji is one of my go-tos for foolproof, safe gifts - either stationary or mugs/homeware and even snacks.

  • I love the miju store since i was in kuwait ! The aesthetic of the store is minimal and cozy , i would love to see the store in montreal canada as well !

  • This place is so aesthetic and I love how simple everything is. I would love it if they opened up their Hollywood store again. However, I can dream :)

  • Muji is one of my ALL TIME favorite brands for just about everything. I’ve been using their home organizational products for 10+ years, and they are standing the test of time (especially their plastic bins which we use and abuse daily). While their products aren’t cheap, they are WORTH it. Their design aesthetic is so clean and modern that it goes with just about everything. I also love their line of women’s clothing and all of their travel products. Their scent diffusers are amazing too! Never disappointed with this brand.

  • Muji products are quintessentially minimalist yet functional. Muji has everything from housewares to clothing gear. While the color scheme for the clothing is traditional and muted, the quality of the fabric and items is outstanding. Love MUJI!

  • I've loved everything I've ever gotten from Muji, from stationary, home wares and clothing. Really simple and elegant Japanese design. They make great pens, beautiful household items and really nice linen wardrobe staples.

  • I love the Muji brand ethos and have shopped both online and in store many times. Their products are stylish, functional and so well made they last for ever. I particularly like their storage systems - modular and so affordable, I'll probably never buy another chest of drawers again in my life.

  • I love the Muji gel pens and notebooks. Unfortunately they are hard to get and expensive in my country

  • God i love rhe design of their products. It screams minimalism. I highly recommend them. Not only they were sturdy but high quality too!

  • Basics are so great! Feels like an elevated bed bath and beyond - and it’s a bit more curated too. They also have a huge assortment of notebooks and pens, so you can exactly what you’re looking for! I think the experience is better in person, but haven’t had major issues with their site.

  • Muji is one of my favorite affordable brands The quality is amazing, especially for the price. Muji items are innovative and practical and every time I shop here I find something new to try. I’ve gifted many of their items to close friends and coworkers and they were well received.

  • Shopping at Muji makes me want to be a better person. Someone who is organized, simplified and is clutter-free. I love that I can go in without an objective and find the smallest piece of product that will enhance my day-to-day life. I recently went in to prepare for a trip and picked up the perfect travel size container to reduce my carry-on liquid capacity and small pouches for all of my miscellaneous essentials in one place. They are innovative and always finds a way to make my life easier. Only downfall is their ecom experience is non-existent or abysmal. Will only recommend IRL experiences.

  • The stuff here is all so simple. There a sort of Japanese peace to there simplistic designs. Bought a pen case and a set of colored pens. Love the design and simplicity of them
