  • Ultra-creamy banana pudding texture
  • Consistent flavor reliability
  • Fun monthly pudding specials
  • Aesthetic, giftable presentation
  • Occasionally dry cupcakes and cakes
  • Overly sweet flavor profiles
  • Seasonal flavors underwhelm classic
  • No vegan dessert options

Magnolia Bakery earns glowing reviews for delivering lush, ultra‑creamy Banana Pudding—often called the best and a consistent, must‑visit classic—while feedback on other items is mixed. Reviewers praise decadent textures, fun monthly pudding specials, and reliable in‑store consistency, but note weaknesses such as occasionally dry cupcakes and cakes, overly sweet flavors, lack of vegan options, and shipped or non‑NYC pudding tasting less fresh.

  • I LOVE their baked goods. I have tried a few cakes and the banana pudding, both are amazing! The cakes are moist with amazing frosting. I have only purchased in-person from the bakeries, so I cannot speak to the online ordering experience.

  • It's quite good! A bit overpriced but a worthwhile treat once in a while.

  • Magnolia Bakery is the best. Their Banana Pudding is so good, but their other treats are great too. Make sure you pick up their Icebox cakes too.

  • There’s nothing like a pint of Magnolia Bakery’s banana pudding. I think about it at least once a month. Their other pastries are great, sure, but the banana pudding is the star of the show.

  • you can't go wrong here. the banana pudding is classic and I love all the seasonal flavors especially carrot cake. Their cakes and cheesecakes are also always amazing!

  • 10/10 I get the banana pudding for every family event! This is the best item to bring to a holiday or dinner party!

  • Delectable cupcakes to stroll about and devour. I had the birthday cake last year with cream cheese frosting, pineapple and nut, it was really sweet and heavy, could only have one piece.

  • I'm from NYC Magnolia Bakery is a staple. I was so happy when I found out they had one in LA when I moved to Cali. Every time I am in town I get a medium banana pudding. A red velvet cheesecake, and a vanilla cupcake with vanilla buttercream.

  • Last week I had ordered their infamous pudding and cake to celebrate my birthday. I tried the Hazelnut pudding straight away, was good. I messaged them to see if the bananas were suppose to be mushy? Guess it’s normal, tasted great but mushy bananas are not my thing. The cake and pudding had come Friday and birthday celebration was Sunday. We followed the instructions to a T, but the cake was shared between multiple ppl and not a single one of us ate our piece. The confetti cake wasn’t even edible. If the cake was any dryer it would have been sand. We could smash the cake in our fingers and wouldn’t leave any cake debris from it being so dry. I’m not sure if something happened in transport or what it was, but this cake was not ok!? The packaged seemed somewhat cold but not as cold as expected. I had gotten a response from the bakery about the pudding but yet to receive any type of a response about the cake. Very disappointing.

  • The Banana Pudding is by no means overrated. The Lemon Bars are extremely underrated and I used to bring them across the Pacific when visiting a friend, because she loved them that much.

  • Magnolia Bakery is a MUST visit for me when I am in NYC. I am such a huge banana pudding fan, and this place does not disappoint! One thing I love about this place is their consistency, the flavors always taste the same each time I visit.

  • I got to try this place while visiting DC a few years ago. I loved it! I definitely stuffed my luggage with to-go cake twice lol I wish we had this place in Greenville! It's probably best that we don't. I'd eat way too much cake from here!
