GOODLES reviews and discussion

4.4

Reviews mention

  • Creamy, satisfying cheese sauce
  • Al dente, springy noodles
  • High‑protein, fiber‑rich formulation
  • Playful, distinctive flavor variety
  • Inconsistent, muted flavor execution
  • Salty, high‑sodium sauce
  • Small, unsatisfying portions
  • Occasional digestive discomfort reports

GOODLES earns strong reviews as a tastier, higher‑protein, high‑fiber upgrade to classic boxed mac and cheese, with many praising creamy, cheesy flavors (Shella Good, Cheddy Mac, Twist My Parm, Down The Hatch) and al dente noodles. However, reviews flag inconsistent flavor execution (especially Cacio e Pepe and some vegan options), occasional watery or bland sauces, high sodium, small portions, and reports of stomach discomfort; shoppers who prioritize nutrition over pure nostalgia find it a compelling pantry staple, while purists may prefer Annie’s or Kraft.

  • Ok, so I am a mac and cheese lover. I have tried tons of different brands to try to sub for healthier alternatives and it all comes down to Goodles and Banza. Both are good, but Goodles tastes much better to me! I love the Twist my Parm flavor and it really hits the spot all the while being packed with protein. Highly recommend if you love mac and cheese but want something slightly healthier.

  • Very yummy for a healthy alternative. The instructions are super easy to follow and all the flavors are delicious.

  • I admittedly felt guilty cheating on my "I don't want to cook, I want OG mac & cheese" Kraft habit but Goodles is a pretty yummy sub. There was a sweetness/possible sweet potato like flavor in the cheddar cheese that I loved. I want to try more flavors!

  • My new go-to; and I also prepare for my 2 year old (every so often). No complaints and do not miss max and cheese. The truffle is my personal fave

  • We have two small children and I am a life-long lover of Mac & Cheese. When I saw these at Target I thought there was no way they tasted very good, but given how much mac & cheese gets eaten in my house I thought we could compromise a bit on taste for a more nutritious option. Well, I was wrong, we don't have to compromise - Goodles are delicious! We now buy them in bulk and have tried several varieties. So far the standard Cheddy Mac is our go to but the other flavors are delicious, too. Definitely worth the switch if you are looking for a more nutritious version of the classic comfort food.

  • MY NEW FAV MAC AND CHEESE!!! I swear by these things. I do wish the price was more affordable and available in bulk, but they are a newer company. My favorite flavor is the truffle and parmesan!

  • We love Goodles, especially considering they are packed with protein! However, I do wish the box was more than half full with noodles considering the price and benefits of an already favorite meal or snack. The only reason we continue to purchase Kraft Mac and Cheese is because we can stretch it further throughout the week for easy, cheap family meals that are filling, although less nutritious. But, we do not feel as good about purchasing plain old Kraft mac and cheese. We love the Goodles flavors! If Goodles packed at least 1/3 more noodles in their boxes, they would be our only brand! This is the reason for the 4/5 review, much like the 4/5ths of a box we have encountered with the brand.

  • I have only bought the vegan one and I even subscribed to it for a couple months with a really good sale they were having. Since they only have one flavor that I can eat, I am giving it 3 stars for lack of variety in dairy-free options. The vegan flavor is the best vegan mac and cheese from a box that I've had. That is where the 3 stars are coming from and I'm sure the other flavors are great, I just can't eat them. I will also note it's quite expensive but if you have it once and a while, it's nice. I usually add kale or tofu to it as well.

  • love love LOVE GOODLES. now a pantry staple. even fooled my husband!! MUAHAHHA

  • I picked up Goodles on a whim, and it's pretty much like any other boxed mac 'n' cheese. The cute packaging and added protein and fiber are nice extras. It might not become a regular purchase for me, but I did enjoy it.

  • Amazing! Worth the extra bucks. Love the flavors

  • Don’t be fooled by the sexy packaging or nice spokesperson. This stuff tastes bland. Highly disappointed.

  • I tried the cheddy Mac and it did not disappoint! Packaging is gorgeous and it hits the spot if you’re craving some Kraft style Mac. Was surprised how flavorful it was! Would definitely buy again.

  • I’ve only tried the cheesy original one in the green box but OMG IT’S GOOD. I like it better than Kraft. I like it better than Amy’s. Buying some for my sister for her birthday to try out. It’s my new favorite lazy meal, plus I feel good about eating it knowing it’s not a bunch of processed crap in there.

The packaging is super cute too

  • I’m obsessed with this flavor- love the ingredients but every time I have eaten this, I have crazy stomach cramps. I’ve now tried it 4 times- yes 4, because I love the flavor. However, I’m giving up do to the stomach ache and cramping after.

  • These were really good! I tried the Cheddy Mac and the Twist My Parm, and both were highly comparable to the boxed mac n cheese we know and love. I cooked the noodles for a little bit less than the box instructed and they were perfectly al dente. Will buy again!

The Cheddy Mac was a tiny bit salty, without salting the pasta water at all.

  • The best way to try Goodles would be a test between competing products. But that wasn't my first choice. I thought it would be good, so I made it and tried a box of their basic mac and cheese. The first touch to my lips created a shock in my system. Who promotes a healthy product when it has more sodium added than even Kraft, which is already excessive? It has double the sodium of Annie's. All I could taste was a hint of cheese and extreme saltiness. Didi this come out of the ocean? As I continued to eat, I couldn't help but encounter a resonating medicinal taste. That is when I stopped. I went to the store and bought back a box of classic Kraft Mac 'n Cheese. I cooked it up and sat down to compare. Goodles taste like medicine. You finally realize how bad it is after you taste the Kraft standard. I've done this before with Annie's, and I liked Annies. But this sucked. Shame on Goodles for promoting an overly salted medicinal product under the guise of being healthy. Please!!! You have an opportunity to fix it as well. Buy, cook, and then taste your competitor's products and the look of the finished product after it's cooked. Your product not only tastes inferior, is overly salty, and has a medicinal taste, but it also looks unappetizing compared to the others. Unless you're using this business to launder money, make your investors happy by producing something worth taking POSITIVELY about. I have no ties to any food products anywhere. I am not a chef or even a cooking type of person. I am not associated with any food product, know anyone who is or is associated with any ingredient maker, nor have I at any time throughout my life. I do, however, love mac and cheese, and I felt compelled to write this because I feel that the release of Goodles as a product is a crime against all of us mac n cheese lovers. Please fix it. I'm so upset about this that I'm considering taking a box to a lab to have it analyzed. There's no way that there's not something in this that shouldn't be there.

Reduce the salt by 60%. Find some way to make it creamier. Suggest adding salt or margarine to it on the box to improve flavor. Figure out what makes your product taste medicinal and alter, substitute, or remove that ingredient. Buy competing products and have all your staff do a taste test while wearing blindfolds. Do a consumer group study in the same way. See what they say.

  • I have never strayed form kraft until now! The color is definitely a little alarming at first, but it is so good. Definitely worth swapping this into my quick meal rotation since it adds some protein and nutrients back into my diet.

I can only find it in my local target, so I wish it was more easily accessible in other stores

  • Loved the packaging and was so excited about the different flavour options, but overall, none of them impressed me. The pasta itself was flavourless and had that obviously “healthy” taste that no one really wants in their Mac n cheese. If I was in the Mac n cheese aisle again, I’d definitely stick to what I know, but I wouldn’t turn my nose up at this stuff if it was offered to me. A fine solution for a healthier option, though I have to say, if you’re looking for healthy, cheesy pasta isn’t the answer no matter how much protein is in it.

Packaging is perfect..! Overall I think the texture and flavour of the pasta could use some improvement. It felt like I wasn’t full even after eating a full box which made me question it’s protein promises.

  • I love goodles! I get these over kraft and annie’s now! they taste amazing

I would love them to come out with GF versions!
