Function of Beauty reviews and discussion

As a big aesthetics fanatic, Function of Beauty is amongst my favourite haircare brands. From the packaging, to the beauty of the products themselves, I really can't complain about the appearance. The shampoo and conditioner do exactly what they should - clean your hair and keep it silky smooth for 2-3 days until the next wash. The only reason I can't give it the full 5 stars is that I personally don't think the customized shampoo solved my personal hair issues. I have an oily scalp that tends to get greasy on the next day after the wash, and since Function of Beauty doesn't solve that issue I tend to use it on and off with other haircare brands. It was disappointing that the products didn't work as well for me as they did for others, but perhaps I will create a new subscription later and try a different customized bottle to see if that fixes the problem.

I used the custom formula for two months and didn’t notice and major difference in my hair - it did smell pretty good though. If you can afford it maybe give it a try but it was a little expensive for me to not do very much.

I loved the clean ingredients in this shampoo and conditioner! Both bottles lasted a while. My hair felt clean and healthy. Not the biggest fan of the bottle though.

All my life my hair has been dull, flat, either super dry or super greasy. I decided to “splurge” on my shampoo at the start of the year and order function of beauty. I had thought about it for years and finally went for it to hopefully ditch drugstore shampoo (since they never worked for me in the past). Since using function of beauty I have noticed big changes in my hair. All I have tried is the shampoo so no conditioner or other styling products. I can now go days between washes where I used to have to wash almost every single day or my hair would grease up. My hair also has more volume which is something I’ve always wanted. It’s only been about six months of using their shampoo, so I look forward to more improvements and adding more of their products to my routine.

Don't even want to give it one star! Thought I'd try it, but my hair is still dry with split ends after taking their fool-proof hair quiz. And don't think you can really "cancel anytime" because that's simply not true. When I received my friendly "reminder" email on May 31st for a June 5th order, I canceled immediately, giving feedback that the product didn't work. I couldn't remove my credit card information and they charged me for another order on a product that I won't use. They won't refund the money and sent my product anyway. When I reached out to them via email (since that's the only way to communicate with them) "Sara" was kind enough to cancel my subscription as of June 12th. They're just out to take your money - not interested in customer service at all. They obviously don't care if their name has poor reviews everywhere - wish I would have researched better!!! Save your money - I'm out $120 for a product that doesn't nourish hair.

Average products. I got the products to create your own set from Target and it was nothing special. Might have slightly dried out my hair. Would not purchase again.

I used the shampoo and conditioner for wavy hair with anti-frizz. It has a delicate floral aroma and nice packaging. I bought a second round because it made my hair more manageable and its effectiveness didn't go down after repeated use like many shampoos do.

Goals: I bought a formula for frizzy, dry hair that would help me bring my curls back. My hope is that it will also help me stay off the flat iron. Products: I got shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and serum. Experience: my hair is light, shiny and soft from the first use. No waves/curls back yet and some flying hairs, but overall, my hair looks so much healthier and is not dry.

when I first bought function of beauty in mid-november, i was very happy with it. it made my hair vvveeerrryyy smooth with the formula i made,and i was satisfied with the foaming of the shampoo. overall, it’s still an awesome shampoo, even after using it for over half a year.

I love their hair products they leave my hair feeling absolutely great and smells amazing (peach is my fav)

It did make my hair a little softer but not as much I was expecting. Also I ordered the strongest smell and it’s barely even noticeable. Kinda disappointed to be honest!

I love the ease and customization of the products but the price can be a drawback. Rose scent is my absolute favorite. You can smell it in my hair for days.

The shampoo/conditioner smell great and I loved the idea of the customization but I was really let down by the product. I found that the shampoo and conditioner weighed my hair down and left all kinds of residue on my hair making my ends dry and my hair greasy. It also greatly irritated my scalp causing itching and severe dandruff. After two weeks of using it I ended up throwing it out and switching to my old shampoo/conditioner. Maybe it works for other people but I would advise anyone with fine and/or wavy hair and a sensitive scalp to stay clear

I am super disappointed with my custom shampoo. It does NOT clean my hair adequately at all. I am shocked that after completing a quiz to tell them I have oily hair, I get a shampoo that doesn't clean my scalp 🤷 The idea of paying for "custom" is that it should meet my hair's needs. I am sad to say that it leaves an unclean feeling on my hair and in less than one day, my head smells unclean. How unpleasant. The one positive note was my customer service experience. My initial order was unfortunately lost during shipping. After a couple weeks went by, I reached out to customer service and they immediately replied and sent me a replacement bottle for free. So it took over a month to eventually get my shampoo but I was glad their customer service was so responsive.

Smelled great, but only ok on my hair. I have slightly dry, dyed hair and this was not the best product to care for it.

I was so excited when Function of Beauty came out. It seemed everyone was talking about it and sharing it and i loved the personalization aspect. After purchasing and using, however, i was extremely let down. Within the first few washes using those products only, my hair felt more dry & brittle than it did before. My scalp was itchy and flaky, even after 4+ rinses & scrubs. I would not recommend this to a friend.

Been using FoB for three years now. It’s amazing my hair. Stronger, fuller, and the shiniest ever!

I love it! My head used to itch so bad I wanted to take sandpaper to it and my hair used to be so dry and frizzy until I discovered function of beauty.

Very cool concept. I like the customisation of the product it feels very personal.

I've used function of beauty numerous times and loved the fact that it was some sort of personalized product that cared specifically for my needs. Nevertheless, the formula did not stand out to me and the products did nothing to my hair :(
