  • I love my FOB shampoo/conditioner! I have straight hair that can get pretty dry due to color treatments, and I feel like I've noticed it getting a lot softer and healthier using these. However, these are my first non-drugstore hair products I've really tried, so I'm not sure if trying just slightly non-custom nicer haircare would achieve the same results. Mainly docking a rating point due to affordability.

  • I’ve been using these products for about 3-4 weeks. I got the curly hair shampoo, conditioner, curl cream, along with the frizz control and the curl define boosters. The first few times I used these products, I loved it. Smells amazing and made my hair look great. As time went on though, after about 5 or 6 wash days, I realized that I am losing hair in the shower by the fist full and my hair of late has been in tangled knots when I wake up every morning and there is shedded hair all over my pillow. My scalp has also become chronically very itchy. The only other time I’ve had hair issues is when I was using DevaCurl, which ended up also being known to cause hair loss and damage. Back then the issues stopped as soon as I stopped using the DevaCurl products. It took me a bit to connect the dots on Function of Beauty since I’d only seen overwhelmingly positive reviews at first. I have been off the Function of Beauty products for just a few days now; I am praying that my hair and scalp go back to normal!!!

  • I have used it multiple times this time being the worst I had canceled my subscription prior to this month so I would not receive new shampoo or conditioner yet I still did 60 dollars worth of product I don’t want and won’t use it did nothing for my hair made it feel like straw if anything and it said you could get the purple one for blonde hair yea no I think I’ll stick to my 8 bottle of purple shampoo from Walmart personal opinion not worth the money !!!

  • My hair is way better since I’ve started to use their products! The only downside is the price but for the results it’s worth it. And what’s more, their customer service is really great! Love this brand

  • Absolute scam. I've reached out a couple of times, but customer service can't be bothered to reply... Had my latest shipment (from January) arrive leaking and basically a good 1/5 to 1/4 of product inside the box and not the bottle, because the seal had been broken or something. Regardless, customer service didn't even bat an eye to this. Thanks for nothing.

  • It didn’t help me with my oil hair. The result was the same as using a regular shampoo and conditioner.

  • My daughter loves this product which is why I was so disappointed when I realized that they fill the shampoo bottle 1/3 or 1/2 full. The bottle is thick and opaque so you can’t tell. I inquired on Instagram and they said they leave room for boosters. The boosters are milliliters (drops). Feels scammy

  • I have been using this product for 4 years, I love the product and I really want to give it 5 stars because my hair is the best condition it has ever been it. It takes a while to get the right formula for you, but once you do, it's amazing. BUT... I have to echo what others are saying and say the website and customer service (especially since the website got it's "glow up") has been DREADFUL. I have had to email to correct addresses that were changed to entirely different provinces of my country and even after emailing they still updated to a bastardised version of two of my saved addresses. They took money from my account back on the 22nd of January and as of the time of writing this (11th Feb) my order STILL has not been sent and I am fast running out of my previous product. The "free lotion" I was supposed to be getting because they've cancelled their long time subscription perks has also disappeared from my account and never arrived with me. The product itself is great but the customer service is awful, just awful; from the time it takes for them to respond (which has recently gone from 3-5 days to 7-10 (and it's always the upper limit of that), they usually don't fix the issue on first try and then it's ANOTHER 10 days for a response, the mistakes on the new website make it a hot mess, and I just don't feel safe as a consumer parting with so much money when the communication is so patchy. Sadly, if this latest order ever arrives, it will most likely be my last. I will be looking into finding a suitable replacement going forward as the time it takes for them to respond to clients and then send the product has made me lose faith in a company I have loved for so long. EDIT TO THE RESPONSE: Are you seriously telli9ng me to email you when I am already waiting for a reply to my last email (over a week ago) and when I'm complaining about how long the process takes? Brilliant!

  • I have used Function of Beauty since Jan 2021. At first, it was great. I loved it. It smelled great and made my hair feel amazing. Then around August of 2022, I noticed I had an increase in hair loss. At first, I thought it was medical. I went to doctor after doctor, but they could not find any explanation. So I started at home treatments. Rosemary oil, hair masks, etc. Nothing was working. I was losing hair at an alarming rate, and it was starting to show. Finally, in January 2024, I decided to try changing my shampoo & conditioner. I switched to Kevin Murphy plumping wash and rinse, and oh my god. The difference in my hair loss is astounding. I am losing significantly less hair in the shower using Kevin Murphy than when I used Function of Beauty. I have only been using the Kevin Murphy for maybe 2-3 weeks, but my hair is already looking thicker and feeling healthier. I was going bald using Function of Beauty. I still have half a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, and I will be throwing them out. Function of beauty used to be great, but I will never be using it again. If you are going to be spending $80 on hair products, spend it on the professional stuff. I can't stress enough how much I do not recommend using Function of Beauty.

  • A year after I canceled my subscription I suddenly noticed an $80 charge on my credit card. When I talked to customer service they said it was too late no refunds. It's not even a good product. Arguably a scam. Buy a nice shampoo and use it once every week or 2.

  • Their customer service is non-existent. Their products are fair at best. Their website is full of inaccuracies and/or flat-out lies. They charge you for products you have previously canceled. They do not respond to any attempts at contact. Horrible subscription management. Do yourself a favor buy your hair products elsewhere! 1/30/24 Update- It's interesting to me that they only started replying once a few of us started leaving honest (albeit) negative reviews publicly, including on their Instagram page. It shouldn't take broadcasting their terrible customer service publicly in order to get a response.

  • I have no idea where to start, I had a really bad experience. It always took over a month to receive my package from the time they pulled from my account. It did nothing for my hair but make it flaky, dry, and itchy, which I’ve never had an issue before!

  • Their product is amazing. But the website and customer service is absolute crap. I have changed my address in the website 12 times in the past 6 months and have had to contact customer service 3 times to fix what should never have happened. My address never updates no matter how many times I correct it or remove my old address. Each time my order comes out it goes to UT, I DO NO LIVE in UT ANYMORE!!! I changed my address to my new one in CO as soon as I moved but my order went to UT. I fixed it and got my item with the help of Customer service. I did it a second time a few months later. And now I'm back to the same problem for the 3rd time with my order going to a completely different state than what I have made my address and I am unable to get anyone to answer their phone or to get a real person instead of a crappy chat bot. On top of that I can't even get into my account without having to constantly change my password because no matter how many times I put in the correct one it says it's not right.

  • Terrible company as far as customer service! I placed an order at 10 pm for my daughter’s shampoo & conditioner. At 6 am the next day when I checked my email noticed the order had two more items that I DID NOT ORDER, on it. Sent an email to customer service at that time and request to cancel the other items, a primer and Cowash! They responded they couldn’t cancel because these are customized orders!! Tried to talk to a manager or someone who should care about their customers and their experience but no one helped me! I used the primer myself but it made my hair dry! So I put it in trash where it belongs!

  • Do not buy from function of beauty. There is no way to get in touch with them. They have a chat option that is never available. You can only email them and they do not reply. I have emailed the 5 times regarding a product I received that I did not order and no response to my email, at all. They can’t be that busy. NOT GOOD!

  • Function of Beauty's disregard for customer cancellations and unexpected charges have made my experience highly disappointing. Despite multiple attempts to cancel my subscription, I continue to receive products I no longer want after TWO YEARS. Their lack of responsiveness is a serious concern. Think twice before subscribing.
