Reviews mention

  • Contoured footbed support
  • Long‑lasting construction
  • Iconic versatile styles
  • Adjustable strap fit
  • Painful break‑in period
  • Water‑sensitive cork sole
  • Inconsistent sizing width
  • Odor with summer sweat

BIRKENSTOCK earns strong reviews for comfort that improves as the contoured cork footbed molds to the foot and for durability that can span years, with icons like Arizona, Boston, Mayari, and EVA slides praised for everyday wear. Reviews also flag drawbacks: a painful break‑in for many, sizing confusion and wide fit, soles and cork that can crack or wear quickly (especially when wet), occasional odor and chafing in heat, and mixed experiences for flat or very high arches.

  • There is nothing cute about these shoes, but they supposedly help with arch support. I have normal to high arches and Achilles tendinitis and need to wear shoes that have great support. I own a few different pairs of this brand and overall I don’t care for them. They are hard and start to hurt my feet after a few hours. Also I’m talking about them being broken in and long after they are new. The Papillio Namica wedges however are very comfortable and I love to wear those, I just wish they were more attractive. They’re not awful, just very basic. I know many people who love the sandals and rave about them, but they are just not for me. The wedges however I definitely recommend!

  • LOVE my birks. I've worn these almost every day for the last 6 years. They've been a gamechanger in my wardrobe, both because they go with every outfit, and also because of the comfort. I've done collectively about 15 weeks of international travel where I was walking about 5-6 miles minimum daily, and my feet did not hurt once. They take a week to break in, but once they are, they're the most comfortable things on the planet. Will be a repeat purchase for life for me.

  • Super comfortable and supportive shoe. The arch support is unmatched by any other brand. I have a couple of their Arizona styles and the furry Boston. I will not travel without these. I did not know what the fuss was about this “ugly” shoe until I tried it and now I’m in love. The look grew on me. It gives laid back cool girl vibes.

  • Originality is overrated. What's not to love? *Do pay attention when checking out though. They make shoes for the wide-footed beauts among us, which means you might accidentally buy a too-wide shoe if you aren't paying attention. (Speaking from experience.)

  • Absolutley love these shoe I own like 15 pairs I try to get them on the specials but If I really like the color I pay the price.

  • For many years I said I'd never be caught dead in Birkenstocks, but I relented for comfort's sake and am now a believer. I've only tried the traditional sandals (2 buckles) and they are comfortable to wear when you're on your feet for a long period of time. I have a friend who bought the men's boots last fall and he thought they were very comfortable and were pretty stylish.

  • Classic and dependable. I love that they have a narrow version of their sizes. I’ve worn through a pair from 3+ years of consistent wear which is much better than my other sandals

  • It depends on the specific shoe that you get, but i love Birkenstock. I have had 3 pairs over the last 10 years, and will continue to add to my collection in the years to come. They last fairly long, if you take good care of them (just don't get them wet). Love the colorful ones as well as the classic brown + black leather!

  • I LOVE my birks! I grew up with my parents wearing Birkenstocks and when I got my own pair I was in love. They are super comfortable and look good with anything. Also, they last forever! I think I've had mine for about 10 year now and they are finally on their last legs. I do recommend keeping them out of the water or rain as they are cork and leather so get stiff if they get too wet.

  • I have a pair of Arizona sandals that took absolutely no time to break in and are a staple for me in warmer months. More recently, I purchased the Tokio Super Grip clogs. The break in time was noticeably longer but worth it. They're not the most traditionally attractive shoe, but they're incredibly comfortable, and they surprisingly go with a wide range of outfits.

  • Bought my first pair. Really cute, not as comfortable as I hear they are. Will continue working on breaking them in

  • Currently wearing my Birkenstocks, as I do most days. They last forever, come in a million styles, and seem to be timeless. Yes, they may not be the most stylish shoes, but their utility and longevity make them priceless. These shoes are closet staples!

  • Personally not my favorite shoe but a really popular summer staple. I’ve had a pair for years and they hold up pretty well

  • I have worn my birks into the ground. These are the best shoes out there - they're so comfortable and durable and really fit for almost any occasion. I've accidentally hiked in these, I've worn them into the ocean (wouldn't TOTALLY recommend that though, but mine survived), for casual grocery runs, etc. These are the most practical sandal.

  • I've owned three pairs of EVA Birkenstocks, and they're seriously amazing! They're super comfortable and look great too. Perfect for rocking during summer and at the beach.

  • Comfortable, functional, cute? Once you get these shoes, you won't want to wear anything else. So if you like their look and want this for your own personal style, do it, buy them, take the Birk plunge. But if you are not into their unique look, do not do this to yourself.

  • There is endless things that I can say about Birkenstock. I have honestly been wearing them since I was in Kindergarten, you can honestly see me wearing a pink pair with the gem on them! Flash forward to now, I am a nursing student and I wear the Boston Birkenstocks on Prac and every day! I honestly could not recommend them higher, they support my back by moulding to the shape of my feet. Not to mention that they are super fashionable and trendy too! I have so many different types of Birkenstocks now so I can wear them with absolutely everything, they are also super durable as I only have to buy a new pair every few years as I have quite literally worn them to death.

  • Birks forever. I wear my Bostons in beige OFTEN and I have the Arizona in a few colors as well. They are the perfect slip ons for when you are lazy, on the go, going to the beach, literally anything! They are worth the price, still in great shape after years of owning them. I always like to size up in Birks, its just a bit more comfortable in my opinion. I think they will be in style for a long time.
