Bathing Culture earns polarized reviews: enthusiasts praise the Mind & Body Wash and Cathedral Grove scent as transporting and clean-rinsing, while detractors find the body wash stripping, under-lathering, and occasionally off-putting in scent. The brand’s eco-minded glass packaging, refill options, and evocative redwood-forest fragrances stand out, but some users report dryness, broken caps, shedding towels, and brushes that lose bristles.

Over the past year, I've tried to be more conscious of buying earth-friendly products. Bathing Culture's Mind and Body Wash popped out to me for having a squeaky clean ingredients list, and the hiiiip retro packaging made the purchase a no-brainer. The body wash applies well, has a nice texture and a soothing woodsy smell to match. If you're not into earthy scents, this may not be a match for you. But if you're into redwoods and moss and the PNW, look no further.

My skin is on the dryer side, and I felt like this wasn't exactly *as* moisturizing as I wanted it to be. The scent is great for everyday, but if I was heading out on the town, I'd opt for something a little more sweet.
The only shower gel/soap I FW! I make a point to fill my mini bottle for travel. The scent is heavenly. Still in a trance from their installations at West Coast Craft in SF a few years back. I haven’t purchased from BC directly, instead I have been able to find them at refillery spots which is amazing! Good on them for being available in bulk at zero waste shops.
I was so excited to test out the body wash from Bathing Culture and was drawn to their branding and packaging. I unfortunately not only did not like it, but also could not finish it! It had an olive-oily texture on the skin and smelled like a bunch of kitchen oils. I really loved the packaging but the formula was a no for me. It's worth noting that I reached out for a refund, and their customer service team was responsive.

I love this brand. Tried out their body wash and face oil and both were bought again and given as gifts. Good smells, great results, and your can feel good about using these items as a bonus!

The only improvement I have is access. The site claims free shipping but I didn’t get that where I live and there are no refil stations near me. I’m sure this will be fixed over time and am excited to see the growth

I’m usually pretty sensitive to anything scented but I can use these products without an issue. I love the redwood foresty scent of the body wash and I was super happy that they came out with a perfume as well!

The 'Mind and Body Wash' is my absolute favorite option I've tried. Ever. Best smell. Best consistency. Best branding.

From the branding to the sustainable ingredients to the truly incredible smells, I love Bathing Culture's products and ethos. One of my favorite things in the world is a good bath -- bathing culture’s Big Dipper Mineral Bath is a potently relaxing and aromatic blend of ingredients that make me feel amazing and smell even better. I also love their Cathedral Grove Body Wash (one of the best smelling body washes I've ever used), the Outer Being Face Oil and the long-sleeve "peace through bathing" t-shirt :)

I love the smell! It's a unique and refreshing, California scent. It works well as a body wash for men and women. Love the refillable package.

No real improvements! I wish I could find more locations near me to refill.
