I saved up to buy my first babaa sweater and was so excited to receive it. Unfortunately after I got it and tried it on, it just didn’t fit my body correctly. I am 5’11” with long arms and it was disproportionate. I immediately packaged it up and returned, knowing it wasn’t worth the $300 for me. I just received an email saying my sweater was worn and stained, therefore they had to ship the item back to me and it cannot be returned. They attached a photo of what looked like genuinely the smallest amount of deodorant that clung to the inside of the fabric. I asked if there was anything I could do and assured I had only tried it on once, that I was more than happy with an exchange for a sweater that may fit me better. I was met with an extremely rude customer service email saying there’s no exceptions and just being pretty demeaning overall. I will never be purchasing again.
I gotta say, the quality is high, but for a brand that has a majority of it's products made from wool, they need to do a better job cleaning the wool. I literally spend every wearing picking out twigs and burrs from my cardigan. Not an exaggeration. It's an itchy mess that improves with every plucking, but seriously? I don't want to work for my clothing to be merely acceptable to wear. I also have two cotton sweaters that I think are high quality, and significantly more comfortable. They are quite bulky though, and I find myself wearing them less because bulky sweaters make sense in the winter for a couple months, but the wear time is short and doesn't extend into the spring or fall. In short, if you live in a very cold climate give them a try, but be wary of the wool which might be a preferred material in a cold climate.

I love babaa and have two great pieces. It is so well made and HEAVY. I wear the cardigan daily and it has held up so well. A true investment and something I’ll own for years. They have two big sales a year and that’s when I buy my pieces.

I love babaa and have been a client for many many years. I bought a sweater just before the sales because I am ok with paying more for the quality. It was a dark blue and I started wearing it around the house to see how it would fit me. It started peeling right off and I returned it on the 22 of December. I didn't receive even an email telling me they received the item. It had been one month and I decided to write to them. They told me that they thought that the sweater was worn and they were thinking about what to do. I told them to hurry because not knowing for one month what would happen to my money was not the best. I had to write to them 3 times until they decided to send me back the item!!! I MEAN OK, YOU DDIDN'T ACCEPT THE RETURN, BUT CAN YOU LET ME KNOW IN ONE MONTH SOMETHING???? They answered only because I wrote them!!! It's the second time it happens. A year ago they didn't want to refund me because there was a stain on the sweater. The stain was the reason why I decided to return it the first place and I had email-ed them about the issue. WORST CUSTOMER EXPERICE EVER. I MUST HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS EUROS ON THEIR ITEM, BUT THIS IS THE LAST TIME.

Babaa isn't transparent about the true costs that are passed on to customers. Be aware that if you place a large order, you will receive an invoice from the 3rd party for customs duties. This information isn't stated clearly on their website. I placed a $1k+ order and received a bill from UPS for $300 a week after receiving my order. Apparently, hand knit items are taxed by customs differently that other clothing items, which they apparently assume that the average customer knows. Babaa's customer service was dismissive and unresponsive. They have since updated a text box at checkout to say that customs duties "may" apply, but still do not offer customers any real idea of the true cost of how the process unfolds. I shared screenshots with Babaa's customer service team showing that no customs information was not posted at checkout or on their homepage at the time I placed my order. I also reached out on social media, and Babaa blocked me and other customers who raised criticisms. The sweaters themselves were ok, but not at all worth the trouble of dealing with this company. From Babaa's branding, you get the impression that they are a small, friendly company. That was no my experience, unfortunately.

Babaa should be much more transparent about the costs passed on to international shoppers and willing to resolve customer issues respectfully.
