Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

Great suitcase, super light weight and stylish.

I wish the suitcase had an external compartment to easily access a laptop.
Had high hopes for this after hearing a lot of hype, but it turns out just okay... I think mine broke after two years.

Making the battery pack easier to pull out.
I have had my bigger carry on for year and it looks great. Makes packing super easy and glides through different terrain super quick.
I’ve got three pieces of these luggage and they are great. My two larger ones are Navy and have had great success with the few destinations I’ve taken them to. My white carry-on size hasn’t held up as well, but it has been used significantly more and is more scuffed up than anything. All have been on flights across the country and have had minimal damage other than general dirt or a scratch.

Only complaint is how difficult it is to clean with the sponges provided!
Love my Away bag and will continue to get them if I need anymore. It's lightweight, sturdy, has all the right compartments inside.

I wish it didn't scuff so easily
I’ve been using an away suitcase for the past two years and love it! The perfect suitcase for traveling and always fits in overhead. I’ve used it for day trips but also week trips abroad.

The lighter colors get very dirty and beat up but a magic eraser solves that.
I don’t know if I’d say this luggage is anything special, BUT I can say I really like it. It’s light, aesthetically pleasing, and well-made. I like it and was just thinking about buying a carryon!
Love the design and look, super sleek aesthetic and great color offerings. Also very functional in terms of durability and inside layout. And the adjustable size with zipper expander is really useful.
Feedback
My only complaint is that the larger bag is a little bit so when full (not expanded) it tends to exceed airline weight limits.
Great return policy. My first hardshell luggage cracked due to poor airline handling. Return was was easy and they helped me get a color that I wanted. Well made luggage that can be stuffed if needed.
Love the suitcase - also great customer service!
I know these suitcases are everywhere now, but I absolutely love mine and have for the past 5 years! I have the bigger carryon which fits in the overhead space of almost all domestic flights. And they offer free repairs for life, so that's a HUGE win!
I've had my Away for probably 5 years now. Was really excited about the brand and specifically the charger built in when I first got it. Now that regulations have changed and you can't have the charger in when you fly, it basically defeats the purpose & competitive advantage of the brand. The bag is sturdy & rolls relatively well, but the smallest carryon size fits barely anything. Unless you're a super minimalist, at least get the bigger carryon. Otherwise you'll still need a second bag. The bags stand up pretty well to regular travel but I wouldn't really call them super high-quality. They don't feel super solid.

See above for feedback on the charger & size. When I first got it, the charger didn't have the pop out feature so I once had to open my entire suitcase as I was boarding a plane and unpack one side and unscrew the charger. It was miserable but thank god I traveled with the screws and screwdriver to be able to do that or I legit wouldn't have been able to fly. I emailed Away the next day and they had me bring the suitcase into the store for them to install the pop-out functionality. That I will say was great customer service.
I purchased an Aluminum Carry-On case a few years ago, and can't think of using a different piece of luggage. The details really add up to a great experience every time, whether it is the laundry bag/compartment, the battery, or the smoothness of the wheels. It's the last suitcase I'll ever buy, and if it gets banged up over years of use beyond usability, I'll just go right back to Away. I got a monogrammed luggage tag as well, and it is fantastic quality.
Our family has 3 carryon suitcases and they've been great so far. Lightweight and easy to get into the overhead compartment.

I've had an Away carry on for 5+ years and I absolutely love it. I have it in Navy and it's held up super well over the years, even after being checked. I've never had it not fit in the overhead bin or had any issues bringing it on the plane. I don't use the charging capability much, but good to have just in case.
Best suitcase ever. No complaints

Nothing, perfect.
The bag fits 3 pairs of size 13 sneakers perfectly. I have not been able to find another suitcase that can do the same.

I wish there was a way to attach any tote bag to the the handle of it so I don't have to weirdly tie to the suitcase before I "jet set"
solid suitcase that has lasted me a while and is the perfect size. I like the attention to detail that went into the unboxing and all the extras.

It is rather scuffed after a year of use!
Highly functional, fit's all the stuff my psycho fiance tries to squeeze in
This is my tried and true luggage brand. I own three of their suitcases and love them all. It's easy to clean (even the white one), the wheels and material is sturdy, and you can check it knowing it'll never pop open. It has a bunch of flex to it, perfect for those of us who like to overpack and need to sit on the suitcase.
