wooj designs sustainable home goods using a mix of modern and traditional techniques.
In their own words
Designer Sean Kim’s Wooj started with a broken lampshade and a global pandemic. Armed with some spare time and a 3d printer, he designed and printed the first prototype of the Wavy Lamp — the product which launched the company — utilizing the hardware from a broken lamp. Finding himself inspired by the possibility of creating fully realized products from his home using inexpensive technology, he decided to launch the Wavy Lamp, which became a social media hit. Since then, he’s outgrown his apartment’s capabilities as a factory, moved into a dedicated studio, and has launched several collections of lighting and collaborations with other creatives. His designs are characterized by an exploration of natural phenomena, repeated patterns, and the synthesis of code, technology, and craft. By blending thoughtful design, cutting-edge 3D-printing technology, and eco-conscious materials, Wooj reimagines how objects enhance our homes, workspaces, and lifestyles.
