Reviews mention

  • Nostalgic, transportive signature scent
  • Lightweight, non-greasy formulas
  • Clever, conversation-starting packaging
  • Consistently effective sun protection
  • Overpowering fragrance for some
  • Small sizes deplete quickly
  • Inconsistent spray/nozzle mechanics
  • Leaky oil and packaging issues

Vacation earns strong reviews for making sunscreen genuinely enjoyable and effective, with lightweight formulas that blend cleanly, prevent burns, and deliver a nostalgic coconut-banana “summer” scent. Reviews also flag weaknesses: potent fragrance, small sizes that run out quickly, occasional packaging issues (leaky oil, finicky spray/whip mechanics), mixed experiences with mineral options and oil protection, and some users finding performance comparable to drugstore formulas.

  • The Vacation sunscreen spray is my favorite! I like using a spray sunscreen when I'm about to take a walk or work in the yard, and their spray smells amazing and isn't too sticky. I can't wait to try their lotions.

  • I really wanted to love the products as much as I love the brand! My experience with them has been *good* - not knock your socks off amazing, but good. I would buy the Chardonnay Oil again though. That said, the brand does everything right marketing and messaging wise, so 5/5 on that front for sure!

For as much hype as it gets, I'd love for the scent to be a bit more pronounced.

  • Nostalgic sunscreen. I didn't even know I needed it but now I am hooked. Love the mineral lotion - works great for my pickleball adventures (seriously, Im a millennial but I love pickleball. I blame the 80's).

More DTC wholesale partners to reduce ship costs. But until then, I'll be jamming to your retro tunes whilst shopping.

  • Vacation's Classic Lotion an almost perfect sunscreen, though I'm partial to an SPF 50. The real winner is their Chardonnay Oil. I was super skeptical that an oil-format SPF 30 would do much for me, sun protection-wise, but the 3.4 oz bottle was absolutely perfect for a recent long weekend trip to the Caribbean. A little of this oil goes a long way, plus it's fun to reapply. Highly, highly recommend!

I wish they offered a higher SPF (50, etc.)

  • I’ve only tried the Chardonnay oil to sunbathe by the pool (did not get wet). It smells delicious and luxurious. It makes your skin slick and shiny. A little goes a long way. It’s not waterproof and says so on the packaging. I think it’s great for going to a pool party where you wanna look glowy and sexy and smell good but probably not ideal for an active beach/pool day.

    Feedback

I think it would be better as a mist or spray bc handling the product can be awkward since you have to pour it on your hand. Would love it to be in a more luxurious bottle too

  • I ordered the mineral sunscreen and the spray sunscreen, and they’re both great! The mineral sunscreen is unscented (which I didn’t realize when I ordered, but that’s okay) and has a pretty minimal white cast and a nice, hydrating feel. The spray sunscreen smells AMAZING, and while I haven’t used it yet other than to test a spot on my hand, the scent alone makes it a winner for me.

  • Love the branding, it definitely creates a vibe! The smell is amazing and I love the functionality of the spray. I will buy this again over other grocery store spray sunscreens.

    Nothing!

  • Bought the spray for a Thingtesting promotion, arrived in decent time. The spray itself is a bit sticky, but the smell isn't too overpowering. Haven't been able to test the effective-ness of the spf yet (Canadian spring!) but otherwise happy with the product.

    Feedback

As mentioned previously, it's a bit sticky but once completely dry, its unnoticable.

  • Impeccable aesthetics and even better formulas. Social engagement and voice & tone are entirely consistent and delivers on the full sensorial experience that this highly visual brand has crafted. Formulas have a hint of nostalgia but are elevated for the modern consumer -- an absolute vintage-inspired dream.

Hello I'm a Brazilian beauty creator, I'm 22 years old and I live in Rio de Janeiro. The city has been talked about a lot lately, due to the big show that Lady Gaga will be doing on Copacabana beach. I think it would be interesting for the brand to start being promoted in other countries, so that more people can learn about the benefits of the brand. If you're interested, I'll add my social networks below. email: [email protected] instagram: @carolvnery tiktok (main): @vcarolnery

  • I love the packaging and creativity, but unfortunately I can’t get behind the ingredients used in these products. Many of them contain octocrylene and a couple other ingredients that are restricted heavier in the EU vs US. There’s no way to ensure that the ingredients fall under the safe range and there’s currently disputes over what the safe amount actually is. If I’m using sunscreen, I’m going for a mineral-based option with less harmful ingredients.

  • Their whipped cream sunscreen is such a cute but also effective product! Love that they’re cruelty free!! I use their sunscreen spray and I absolutely love it!

  • Bought the orange gelee, and it immediately started leaking oil/grease out of the packaging after I opened it :( as a fellow product developer I’m disappointed and shocked they were able to launch this SPF as it’s immediately unstable in-pack. Smells and feels great but won’t be taking it anywhere anytime soon. Really innovative SPF offerings and I absolutely love the branding - a leaky oily unstable product is not acceptable in my book.

  • I mostly really like the lip oil. It’s moisturizing and smells really nice. It’s genuinely an oil and not a gloss trying to be moisturizing. The only problem is as I wear it it sneaks into my mouth and I can taste it on the back of my tongue and it’s not pleasant. So keep some gum nearby in case but other than that it’s really nice.

  • I love the smell of this lotion. It literally takes me to a vacation.

  • I have both their 50 SPF sunscreen and 30 SPF Chardonay oil. I love both products. They smell so good and work like a charm! I'm pretty fair skinned and I love the natural sunkissed glow.

  • Absolutely love the branding! The sunscreen smells like my childhood and brings back memories, but it can be somewhat overpowering sometimes. My favorite is the whip. Update: my new favorite is the face stick! It’s so good. Clear, no casting, super light weight and protects well. Super happy and already got 2 more

  • Maaaan do I love Vacation by Vacation. I wish it hadn’t blown up it popularity, as I was rocking the perfume very early on. Oh well, it’s a tantalizing scent! I’ve never tried the sunscreen surprisingly. I have very sensitive skin, and any product which includes even a mildly comedogenic ingredient (surely every sunscreen they offer) is no good for me. Also… my first bottle of perfume completely busted very quickly. The clear gem-looking piece is just a chunk of plastic sitting over the metal. Detaches easily. I also managed to drop the bottle and had the whole thing shatter… leaving Vacation by Vacation to soak into my floorboards, but hey, it smelled nice. Not necessarily keen for the recent brand crossovers and features. Felt like Vacation’s brand was strong enough on its own. Additionally— maybe that’s changing. Early on, their website was hilarious. Very creative and featured a lot of easter eggs to click on. All the photography was edited so as to look vintage. Now… product and model photos are crisp and modern. Not seeing as many kitschy features. And I’ve seen somewhere the creator or perfumer is a NFT guy, so there’s that. Overall, I love smelling like bananas, coconuts, sunscreen, and swimsuit lycra… so I’ll stay sopping up Vacation by Vacation from my floorboards if that’s what it takes. p.s. I had reached out to support once inquiring about their return process for the candles. I’d love to try their other scents. But their answer wasn’t clear at all on whether I’d be able to return unused candles. How am I supposed to know whether I like it?

  • Love the Whip sunscreen. So easily to apply and doesn’t go everywhere like a spray. I buy it every summer now.
