Reviews mention

  • Creamy, luxurious mouthfeel chocolate
  • Inventive, memorable flavor lineup
  • Chunky, satisfying bar format
  • Ethical, mission-driven sourcing
  • Overly sweet chocolate profiles
  • Thick, hard-to-break pieces
  • Inconsistent caramel texture hardness
  • Limited higher-cacao dark options

Tony’s Chocolonely earns strong reviews for rich, creamy chocolate, inventive flavors like Milk Caramel Sea Salt, Dark Almond Sea Salt, and Dark Milk Pretzel Toffee, plus mission-driven, fair-trade sourcing. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some bars taste overly sweet or bland to dark‑chocolate loyalists, the thick, uneven pieces are hard to break and share, and concerns appear about heavy metals in certain dark varieties and salt intensity in caramel bars.

  • My boyfriend is obsessed with these. He says they remind him of the old-school penny candy chocolates.

  • I went all the way to Amsterdam to create my own bar. It was very easy to create and love how interactive it felt. The staff was friendly and helpful. Create and grab your bar the same day. Great for gifts! The bar will last you a while unless you love eating chocolate a lot!

  • While I adore the packaging and the variety of flavors, I find the actual taste of the bar a let down. The thickness makes them difficult to cut or bite, and I find the chocolate flavor is not as strong as some other chocolate brands.

  • Tastes amazing, well priced, quality ingredients. I wish they made more dark chocolate varieties but I have nothing bad to say!! Love them!

  • Love the mission, love the packaging, love the chocolate? ....meh. I have tried a couple of the chocolate bars and I would say that while good, they are just not great. Will I continue to buy? I would have to say yes. They make great additions to gift packaging, provide cute/funny packaging and I just can't say no to anything chocolate and slavery-free.

  • This chocolate was SO delicious. Highly recommend the salted caramel bar, that salty sweet combo is perfect. Almost too good if you're on a diet 😂

  • Tony’s is in my top five for chocolate. Smooth and creamy with great flavor!

  • Got the big bar they sell at Trader Joe's. My husband loves it and bought more. I enjoy it but prefer a chocolate bar that is a bit thinner (a very subjective thing that I realize makes me not a true choco-holic). Perhaps it makes it easier to melt each bite in my mouth?

  • All time favorite chocolate, best flavors and best reason behind the brand.

  • I first saw these in Whole Foods and the bold letters and different colors of the flavors stood out to me. I had to pick one up. I did and I haven't been able to go back. The only thing is that it's quite messy to eat as the squares are all different shapes. Delicious nonetheless

  • I LOVE THIS CHOCOLATE! I've seen this chocolate on shelves at my favorite grocery stores for years but the branding/packaging turned me off. I absolutely judged this chocolate by its cover and thought it was goofy/gimmicky. However, I finally bought a few bars to try because I was intrigued by the flavors and HOLY MOLY I was immediately obsessed. I'm a big milk chocolate fan, so I can only really speak to the lighter chocolate bars but they are creamy and delicious and the bars are thick! They also have a TON of flavors/types of chocolate and I always seem to find one I haven't seen before. Very fun, tasty and mission-driven chocolate that doesn't take itself too seriously :)

  • My favourite chocolate! The dark almond with sea salt is my guilty (but the only chocolate not guilty because of ethics!) pleasure. Wish they had more vegan options but understand it’s not a vegan chocolate brand.

  • Expensive but delicious. Only ever had Tony's as a rare treat.

  • Very good! Got the variety bag with 4 different flavors all tasted great!

  • This brand is fun and the chocolate is GOOD. A very cute gift, great flavors - has really provided something new to the candy aisle!

  • This chocolate is great and they have very fun flavors. I like how thick the bars are and that they are mindful of where their cocoa comes from.
