Best of Thingtesting4.4

Tilden earns strong reviews for delivering complex, adult non-alcoholic cocktails—Lacewing (bright, herbaceous, tart) and Tandem (smoky, warm)—that feel ritual-worthy and host-ready, with elegant, giftable packaging. Reviews also flag downsides: some find flavors too smoky, tart, or bitter, a few note lack of complexity or odd aftertaste/texture, and portion size feels small; overall, a refined NA option best served over ice or with seltzer.

  • Am I the Co-Founder? Yes. Do we love our own product? Genuinely. :) Love you Thingtesting fam! When I sip my own Tilden: - At dinner parties I attend. It's the simplest, most elegant host gift to bring in my purse. - At dinner parties I host. Just put it on the bar cart or table alongside an elegant ice bucket, and I can be present at my own party. - During my evening wind-down. I love the ritual of a slow sip, and Tandem is the most satisfying evening sipper. I feel luxurious. - Alongside patio brunches. Daytime patio dining calls Lacewing's name, often spritzed with bubbles. - During our team standup on Thursdays, when we share toasts and jokes. Workday drinking done right.

  • Was excited to try out these non-alcoholic cocktails because they market being ready right from the bottle, just add ice. The packaging was minimal and humble, and I love that they call out how the bottles are hand-labeled, so the product feels small batch and special. The label design also felt very speakeasy and unique. When I unpacked the bottles and stood them straight-up I thought they had leaked because the liquid wasn't filled up to the top or even through the neck of the bottle. While the label aesthetic is nice, it was perhaps a missed opportunity to not include that each bottle is its own individual mocktail vs trying to understand if it's a mixer or something else. I think what threw me off was the hierarchy of the name and flavor profile being at the top. The flavor of Lacewing was a bit too sweet for me, but I think I'd like to play around with adding some other ingredients to it. Each bottle was about one drink in a highball glass with ice. I probably wouldn't purchase the 6.8oz sizes at full price.

  • I tried Tilden during the most recent Thingdrop, which included the flask duo. At first glance, the packaging is beyond cute. The two flavors included were: Lacewing and Tandem. They both were incredibly different. Lacewing was my favorite by far and I enjoyed adding a pear to garnish the drink. Tandem was also really good, it had a bit of a smoky flavor (reminded me of a reminiscent mezcal drink). Overall, I give the taste of these drinks 5/5 for being non-alcoholic. They both tasted good and had unique flavors. They weren't sweet and honestly I sipped them like I would a normal cocktail. Only reason I give 4/5 is because of the price. The Flask Duo sold at $17.60 (a supposedly 'discounted' price), each flask was equivalent to *almost* one drink (100mL) which totaled it to be $8.80/per drink. Whereas on their site, they currently are selling each individual flavor at 750mL for $35 which is equivalent to $5/drink. Pricing is steep for a non-alcoholic drink to begin with, but occasionally I may splurge to pay $5/drink every-now-and-then.

  • I’m surprisingly impressed by this drink. It’s low cal but very flavorful. The strongest scent that comes through is the oakiness which gives it that reminiscence of a true cocktail. The tart cherry is also quite bitter and tangy. Overall I really like the cocktail. Personally i like a little bubbles so I’d probably add some club soda to top this off but it’s great on its own as well

In their own words

At Tilden, we are reimagining what drinking looks and feels like. What if it’s less about tapping out and more about tapping in? Embracing our truest selves and reveling in the nuance of little moments – the exhilarating, the awkward, and everything in between? While at Harvard Business School, our Co-Founders spent two years crafting the non-alcoholic cocktails they wished they could find on menus and at dinner parties. They set out to create a line of complex, non-alcoholic social beverages unlike anything you’ve sipped before. We’re not mimicking the taste of booze or the quick and fast nature of on-the-go beverages. We believe in the importance of rituals and gathering, and our multi-serve bottles were designed with shareable moments in mind. Our mission is to make sophisticated cocktails that stir and delight the senses – without the usual added sugars or trendy mind-altering ingredients. With uncompromising quality and a commitment to craft, Tilden is pioneering a new category of drinks that welcomes all and inspires genuine connection among one another. - Ready-to-pour - No added sugar - No artificial colors or flavors - No preservatives - Vegan and gluten free - 100% true cocktail finish
