Reviews mention

  • Effective acne-clearing serums
  • Noticeably brighter, smoother skin
  • Minimalist, clinical formulations
  • Clear, straightforward labeling
  • Sticky serum textures
  • Potential irritation from actives
  • Hit-or-miss product efficacy
  • Confusing product naming

The Ordinary earns strong reviews for effective, ingredient-forward skincare that improves texture, hydration, acne, and glow—with standouts like Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, and the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Reviews also flag weaknesses: some formulas feel sticky, can pill or irritate sensitive skin, high actives may overwhelm newbies, results can be hit-or-miss, and product naming/usage can be confusing.

  • amazing prices and amazing products, I don't feel guilty everytime I want to indulge in my skincare routine because the price is awesome!

  • Love the Ordinary! Some complain that their products are not complex enough but that is the purpose of the company. I have their Natural Moisturizing face lotion, and it is lightweight yet nourishing which is great for my acne prone skin. Highly recommend if you're looking for cheap, clean, and simple products.

  • I really like their moisturizer and the price point, however, there are soooo many products that it is hard to figure out what you should get. You have to be a cosmetic chemist to figure out what works with what and when to use it and how. I wish the brand was more user friendly but like their mission of making skincare more accessible.

  • I think by now most people, women at least, are familiar with the ordinary. They make so many affordable products it can actually be a bit overwhelming as it's not marketed quite the same as other skincare. The products are named simply for the active ingredients inside them there are other skincare brands are selling you an end goal telling you what the product will do for you not what's in it. I have repurchased the ordinary hyaluronic acid many times and it is a great product. Same with their glycolic acid, it's a huge bottle that will last a long time for less than $15 you can use many of their products for multiple purposes and it's a great place to start if you're looking for affordable active skin care.

  • I LOVE The Ordinary! Matrixyl and “B” Oil are two must haves in my skincare routine and I am a skincare fanatic! I have really sensitive, dry skin and after trying so many different products, these are two that I always keep in my routine!

  • This is a great brand to use if you're just starting out with skincare. I love how affordable these products are and the minimalist packaging. There are so many products to choose from based on your skincare needs.

  • I love their products! They’re all super affordable and have helped me clear my skin. I struggle with acne and acne scars and their products have helped minimize my skin concerns :)

  • I've been using this line for a little while now and I'm really loving it. The products are super affordable and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you're looking for some new skincare products!

  • The Ordinary's products are hit or miss. I find myself using more products than necessary because they're so reasonably priced, but they all work well.

  • Have such a great experience with the ordinary. It was so great to see skincare that actually works be accessible! and everything is broken down so simply, it really helped feint my love fore skincare. couldn’t recommend the ordinary more!

  • Good products overall but you gotta do your research and be careful with which product is compatible with others. Very customizable but takes time and skin testing.

  • It is good in that it fills a hole of basic/no frills active skincare. that said, you need to already have a good idea of ingredients, what they do, and how well they work for you to get a 4star value out of this brand. because items are so low cost it is pretty low risk, but the wrong person could end up hurting rather than helping their skin if they used the wrong thing without knowing. also the formulas are not going to feel the most cosmetically elegant- they are cheaper, not terrible but not on par with high end or even some mid-range brands

  • There’s a reason everyone uses this brand, they are awesome.

  • The ordinary was my start in skincare. Ilove that hte active ingredients are mentioned on the label with minimalist packaging and i know what to expect. It is also super affordable and not intimidation to start with. A lot of skincare has fragrance, i like that their products done have fragrance. My favorite are the AHA/BHA mask but you need to use caution while using it and read instructions. I also like their hyaluronic acid serum and live the price of it. It is effective and much better than a lot of the expensive serums in the market.

  • Hyaluronic acid: too thick, needs a few drops of water to dilute. Powdered niacinamide and vitamin c: very cost effective, but dissolve with a drop of water before adding to moisturizer. The price points are fantastic, but you need to do your own research to figure out the value of each product and what it might do for you.

  • I like their products and they’re very reasonably priced. My skin didn’t do as well with the face lotion, or alpha arbuten, but the niacinimide and eye cream were great.

  • The prices at the ordinary are unbeatable! They have an incredible product range! I just wish there was more product education as since many of the products are single ingredients based it hard to know what would work for your skin.
