  • Lower‑sugar candy formulas
  • Convenient portion packs
  • Vegan, plant‑based options
  • Extremely sticky texture
  • Inconsistent chew quality
  • Notable sweetener aftertaste
  • Potential gi discomfort

SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

  • Delicious. No artificial colors or sweeteners. My kids enjoy them, and so do I. Biggest downside is the cost.

  • A treat at the check-out every time. I love the peachy ones. Occasionally you can taste their version of sweetener more than other times. But overall it’s my go to sweet treat.

  • Peach rings are BOMB 10/10 the rest have an interesting texture. If you’re a candy enthusiast this won’t cut it but if you are just looking for a sweet treat I recommend!

  • I didn't love them. They were mushy and not so flavourful, but I enjoyed the swedish fish!

  • Love the fun flavors and that it’s not overly sweet!

  • I enjoy these as a sweet treat when I don't want to feel guilty about it! I like gummies, especially sour ones. I really liked the Sourmelon Bites and the Sour Blast Buddies. Though they could still be a bit more sour. The Peach Rings are very sweet, no tang at all, which I found disappointing. Gummy worms were as expected, I would enjoy them if they were sour, surprise!. All had a very close texture to traditional gummies though these are a bit more stick to your teeth kind of chewy. They are pricier than the average bag of gummies, I buy when on sale

  • Very flavourful and a great alternative to traditional candy if you’re looking for a guilt-free sweet tasting option. Likes: - They don’t get stuck in your teeth :) - Variety of options - High quality - Delicious! Dislikes: - Expensive for the amount you receive Overall a great product for the health conscious sweet tooth! :)

  • I wanted to love these so bad because I love their mission and I looooved candy during my pregnancy. I was super shocked to experience candy cravings since I never eat it but I thought SmartSweets would be the perfect solution, being low in sugar. These candies were so hard to eat :( It felt like they were literally pulling my teeth out of place. I was so sad! Maybe I got a bad batch or something but they were so hard and dense :( I’ll try again in the future but won’t really jump to buy them again.

  • Glad I can get them for my kids. I wish the price is more affordable.

  • So so good! Fresh--the best you can find if you can not have sugar!

  • I went through a huge Smart Sweets fan, until I read about how the calories are still calories. Sadly, I was kind of thinking of them as healthier desserts and snacking on a (small-ish) bag several times a week for awhile. I freaking LOVE the gummy bears, at least the regular ones. I don’t love the sour gummy bears as they are covered in an odd-tasting powdery substance, but kids still like them (hey, they look like candy and still taste kind of sweet). I do like that I can give my kids some of these gummies and feel better than giving them the other more sugary gummies, but are they really healthier? Are they definitely safe for kids to eat frequently? I’m a skeptic and nervous about alternative sugars in this post-Splenda era: we’ve been burned. The peach rings are pretty good too, but again, get rid of the powder. The only flavor I hated was watermelon and I love watermelon candy. Other than more independent reviews of the nutrition/ingredients, it would be cool if the packaging was compostable. The packaging is brightly colored and fun. It’s a great idea for a product for sure, and I love them as an occasional snack, though a single bag at the store is pretty pricey!

  • Have loved Smart Sweets for years and years - but not as much of a fan of the reformulation since they were acquired. Previous formula had 25g of fiber (if I recall) and revised formula has 13g of fiber per package on average.

  • It's delicious and very nice

  • Could not love these more. The sticking to the teeth can be annoying but expected with gummies

  • Meh. Gimmicky. Costly. Meh

  • The flavors are very good but I find the texture of the gummies not the same consistency as the full sugar gummies. So be prepared that if you buy it, while very tasty, it will feel a little chewy.

  • So yummy and a healthy alternative

  • I bought these for my kids but snagged more thana few for myself. These are wonderful if you have a Swedish Fish "problem" (ahem; me) but you don't like artificial red dye and tons of sugar. These are sweet, but not overpowering, and they're about as good as the real (crappy) thing. I've tried many varieties and they're all pretty great. I'll never go back!

  • This a Fab little treat. Colorful bags of just enough sweetness and I absolutely love that it is also portion controlled for someone like me :) Its also been an amazing choice to give to my grand kids so they don't have too much sugar as well as my diabetic husband. Its a winner in my house with my personal favs being the peach rings and the Sour watermelon.
