SmartSweets earns largely positive reviews as a lower‑sugar candy that satisfies cravings—standouts include Sweet Fish, Peach Rings, Sourmelon Bites, red twists, and gummy worms—while recurring complaints in reviews cite an extremely sticky, tooth‑clinging texture and occasional odd or stevia‑like aftertaste. Reviews also note inconsistent chew across flavors and batches, plus some GI sensitivity for a few users; if you want a healthier candy fix and can accept a different chew, SmartSweets is a compelling swap, but purists may prefer the originals.

  • Don't love it at all. The flavor is decent but I hate how they get stuck in my teeth.

  • Good, but will make you use the restroom which makes it difficult to purchase again

  • People rave about these and I can definitely see why! I personally wouldn’t pay so much for a little amount of candy, but if you can afford it, then it is a great alternative. I heard that the ones sold at Wholefoods are made with a different formula than the ones sold in everyday grocery stores. Makes me wonder why they make it different and if it is less “healthy” when sold in these other stores. That definitely detoured me a bit. I’ll give it a 4 though since they are a great alternative to a sweet candy treat.

  • I had high hopes for SmartSweets candy, but I have to say, it left me disappointed. The fruity gummy bears and sour blast buddies sounded promising, but the taste just didn't live up to my expectations. I appreciate that they're low in sugar and have no artificial sweeteners, but the flavor fell flat for me. The gummy bears had this weird aftertaste, and the sour blast buddies lacked the tangy punch I was hoping for. The texture was also a letdown. The gummy bears were a bit too chewy, bordering on rubbery, and the sour blast buddies were a bit too hard for my liking. If you're on a strict sugar-free diet and willing to compromise on taste, SmartSweets might be worth a shot. However, if you're like me and looking for a satisfying candy experience, I'd suggest exploring other options.

  • These are a GREAT alternative to junk candy! I get it, none of us want our kids to consume any candy, but realistically, it surrounds them and life is too short not to enjoy a little of the bad stuff. This takes a lot of the bad out of the equation and my kids enjoy them. My only complaint is the price, but I'd rather pay a little more for what's going into my kids' bodies.

  • As someone who follows a low-sugar diet, I do love having Smart Sweets in my cabinet for a sweet treat. However the stickiness of the consistency does not fair well with my teeth. I feel like I always am having to clean them out of my teeth afterwards.

  • So this is the thing: I saw this product in the store and was excited to try a low-sugar alternative to the candies I loved as a kid. DO NOT GO INTO THIS EXPECTING IT TO TASTE THE SAME. They were ok, but they didn't capture the nostalgia I was craving/looking for.

  • Don't taste or have the texture of typical candy but they're quite delicious in their own right! Be careful about how much you eat as they are very high in fiber content. I like to keep mine in the freezer for extra chewiness.

  • They. know how to get the right flavor, but everything is sooooo sticky I can feel my fillings being pulled out. I know it's hard to get the right consistency with "diet" candy, so if you're trying to cut back on sweets these could be a good first step

  • Great alternative when you want yourcandy fix .. although some flavors leave a weird after taste

  • Do you want sweets without the guilt? Here they are. Find your flavor and be ready to be obsessed with it. The watermelons are the bomb and my personal favorite, but I would love an assortment option. Sometimes I cant decide what flavor I want, and I don't want to buy all of them because the price is not the friendliest.

  • When you are at a store like Target in the candy aisle with your kids, SmartSweets are the perfect compromise. My kids feel like they are getting real candy, and I feel like they are getting a bit of a better option than the traditional 50+ grams of sugar per pack candy.

  • These candies are seriously so good and are far less unhealthy than other sweets. Love these

  • These products are amazing. You would think that because this is a healthy option it wouldn’t be so good, but no. This product is the perfect dupe if you want to make a change in your wellness and reduce calorie intake

  • Horrible!! Worst tasting candy ever. They have been advertised everywhere and have super cute packaging and they don't taste yummy or have a good texture. Nothing positive

  • I LOVE smart sweets!! It’s so good & so much better for you than traditional candy. It is a little pricey, I wish things that were healthier were more accessible but I do really enjoy the products!

  • Delicious option for “natural” candy. Some of them don’t have my favorite consistency but overall love most of the flavors. They have a ton of different options and definite don’t feel as guilty eating them versus old school sugar filled candy. Like that they come in smaller packages also.

  • I love smart sweets, they are a great low sugar option that still hits the spot when your craving something sweet. The downside is it is very expensive which does not make it a great option for a lot of people.

  • I love these candies. These are the first low sugar candies that don’t have a gross aftertaste, nor do they cause GI distress if you eat too many. Texture can be a little gummy, but it’s worth that trade off for a low sugar candy that actually tastes good.
