Scout’s mission is to be the most trusted seafood brand in North America while reducing food waste and protecting our oceans and waterways.
I really, really want to love the product because I am an avid tinned/canned fish user and sustainable seafood supporter. The mission, packaging, and brand are excellent. But the product itself falls short, at least for me. The lobster meat texture was too soft, borderline mushy, and the tuna was just so-so. The oil didn't taste great and meat was a bit dry. Having lived in Madrid and getting to try all of the tinned/canned fish brands of Spain and Portugal, I know what the quality and potential of this format of preserved seafood can be.
Product quality, taste, texture, flavor. There needs to be some more calibration or maybe research to get this product to live up to its wonderful brand image.
Tried the canned lobster, perfect with crackers next to a salad. Slightly oily but definitely worth trying if into seafood. Appreciated the recipes on the packaging!! 🦞🦞🦞🦞
I was impressed by the flavor and the fact that it didn't taste canned! Obviously that can be a concern for brands in tins but I didn't get that metallic taste.
The can was a bit smaller than I expected but still had a big enough portion for one.
🦞🐟 Sustainable seafood, but make it shelf-stable! These gorgeous canned delights have become a pantry staple. From the thoughtful packaging to the recipe cards and, most importantly, the beautifully preserved ocean fare inside. I love all of the Scout products and am grateful to be able to open a can of fish or lobster any time of the year.
