  • The Ratio 8 Coffee Maker — Where Biohacking Meets High Design For years, I was fiercely loyal to my stainless-steel French press. It was simple, ritualistic, and produced delicious coffee. That is, until I listened to Dr. Rhonda Patrick explain how unfiltered coffee, French press, boiled, and espresso, contain diterpenes, oily compounds that can raise LDL cholesterol and other lipids, potentially increasing cardiovascular risk. Her fix was refreshingly simple: use a paper filter. An unbleached, non-toxic one, of course. And so began my search for a healthier coffee maker. Easier said than done. I hadn’t realized how challenging it would be to find one that didn’t quietly leach microplastics. Weeks later, after endless fine print and near misses, I landed on the Ratio 8 S2: arguably the most expensive non-espresso coffee maker ever made, but also the most exquisite. It’s gorgeous, all sculptural lines and hand-blown glass. But beyond beauty lies brilliance: a precision-engineered pour-over system. The result? Cleaner coffee, still rich in polyphenols, without the diterpene drama. Yes, the Ratio 8 is indulgent (I waited for a sale). Each morning now begins with a moment of beauty, and truly delicious coffee, design meets intention, with a healthier heart in mind.

  • My husband admittedly researched and bought the Ratio Four, but as someone who loves their coffee, I can say it is aesthetically gorgeous AND brews delicious coffee. Worth the wait!

  • I bought the ratio 8 back around 2020. I was interested in the look and limited plastic make up of the coffee machine. I wanted to love it. However, due to the design of the product, it can be very difficult to access the tank if needed. Ours stopped working during warranty window. We had to pay to ship the product back to manufacture to get it fixed. We had to wait over a month...possible months (don't quite remember) to get it repaired. In 2024, the machine stopped working again. We gave up and bought an expresso machine. Overall an overpriced coffee machine with poor functionality.
