Instagram’s @shop on Instagram: "“The mission really is to make space for ourselves — and South Asian flavors — on the shelves,” says @peepalpeople hot sauce co-founder Alyzeh Rizvi. During the pandemic, Alyzeh and her husband, Ahmer, started searching for hot sauces from the U.S. that featured the spices they grew up eating back in Karachi, Pakistan. When they couldn’t find any, they made their own (right in their backyard). 🌶 Soon, Peepal People, named for a shady tree where families in Pakistan often gather, was born. “[Our] fermentation process brings very unique tart, sour, kimchi-tasting notes,” Ahmer explains. “At that same time, in each of our sauces, we incorporate spices or flavors that remind us of home.” ✨ For the rest of this month, amid the news of devastating floods in Pakistan, @peepalpeople is donating 15 percent of all proceeds from their best-selling Hara Bhara and Peela Patakha sauces to relief efforts. 🙌"
