Reviews mention

  • Sleek, minimalist aesthetics
  • Smooth, quiet wheels
  • Thoughtful interior organization
  • Lightweight, spacious construction
  • Easily scuffed outer shell
  • Fragile shell cracking risk
  • Sticking telescopic handles
  • Finicky latches and locks

Monos earns polarized reviews: praised for sleek, lightweight designs, smooth wheels, smart organization (compression panels, front laptop pocket), and distinctive colors, yet criticized for fragile shells that scuff, dent, and crack, finicky or sticking telescopic handles, and inconsistent customer service and warranty experiences. Reviews indicate the luggage can work well—rolling smoothly and packing efficiently for frequent travel—but durability of the outer shell and hardware issues, plus slow responses, are recurring drawbacks to weigh before buying.

  • I bought two medium check in luggages from Monos. The first one is about a year old and the second bag was for my husband is about 8 months old. We have used them on various trips to Asia, Switzerland, Turkey, Australia. I like it for the boxy style and light weight. Even when fully packed, I rarely go over the weight limit. The handle is sturdy and adjustable. I had tried Away prior to Monos and found Away’s handle to be too shaky for my liking especially for dragging a 50lb bag. It may just be a defect of that particular bag but I returned it. I had a good experience with the Monos Customer Service when the Airline damaged my hardshell case on my recent Australian trip and I immediately wrote to their Customer Service and included some photos of damages and explaining I need a bag soon for my next trip. They send me a new replacement of my original color swiftly as it is covered under their warranty. Overall, I would recommend this brand due to the fact that they stand by their warranty and product. All their luggage comes in a variety of colors, the most recent offers were yellow (banana pudding) and light lavender (purple icing). They have different types of bags to suit different lifestyles like weekend bags, metro backpacks with changable snap on pouches, totes, crossbody etc. I recently added to my collection a Hybrid Carry On as they were doing a sale on Good Friday. I love the stylish look and the TSA combination locks. As I have not travel with it, I cannot comment on it’s hardiness.

  • I really wanted to love Monos! They have good marketing and great design. However, I would not recommend buying their luggage. I’ve purchased 3 suitcases from them (one carry-on and two medium check-in bags) and one of the suitcases got destroyed after the very first trip with Air Canada. The telescopic handle cracked (I’ve never experienced it with any other luggage) and the suitcase was so scratched and scuffed that now I’m embarrassed to use it again as it looks like it’s been through hell. Also, the customer service is non existent, they don’t offer phone or chat support and the email inquiries are left unanswered. I tried to leave a review on their website from my profile, but there is no option to leave a review so I assume their reviews are fake. Very sad as I wanted to support them as a Canadian brand.

  • Poor customer service. When I buy expensive products I expect exemplary customer service and this might be the worst I’ve ever had. They do not have a Contact number and use AI that you have to message on Instagram, Twitter or other forms of social media. I purchased luggage for a trip and was told 4-6 business days on the website. I did not receive an order confirmation and reached out only to be met with AI. The AI informed me that I would not be receiving my luggage within the 4-6 business days, but that they would express ship my luggage. 2 days later I checked back and I was told on Instagram messenger that what I ordered is out of stock and it would ship sometime in Jan. They offered me a different color that they said they would ship express so I agreed. I chose a color and then was told my new order would arrive in 8 days. That’s express??! Furthermore they delete all comments you leave on Instagram questioning where your luggage is or complaining then report you. 0-10 do not recommend.

  • Purchased the monos Hybrid Carry-On Plus for about $300. When I purchased the luggage I thought the suitcase was ALL aluminum and it’s NOT which I was bummed about. The luggage is plastic and the frame and latches are made of aluminum. Would I buy again probably not but for $300 I can’t complain I guess. One of the things I was worried about was the size being too big for carry on. I flew with United from LAX to Cancun and to my surprise it fit in their overheard compartment. I tried writing a review on their website but I was unable to do so. I contacted Monos and they told me that they would send me an email after 90 days of purchase which i thought was weird. I never received the link to write a review. I contacted them again and they said they didn’t have the ability to send me another link which I thought was suspicious. So it may be some of their reviews may be biased.

  • I was so disappointed when I received my monos backpack. It is not about any defect in the physical form, but the odor is beyond offensive. Has a chemical smell. I’ve written to them twice and they keep telling me to send pictures well how do you send a picture of an odor? It’s been really frustrating. I cannot use the bag.

  • High price point but good quality suitcase and the pockets and fabrics are well laid out and we'll chosen. It's also really aesthetically pleasing which is so nice, I get excited to pack this suitcase when I am going to travel.

  • I ordered a carry on and a metro duffel bag sometime around May. The metro duffel back was back ordered till the beginning of June. Towards June 20th, I emailed their customer service asking for a cancellation for the metro duffel bag as it was way too delayed for my trip. Their customer service is the worst I have ever seen. They don’t get back to you for 10 days. By the time they got back to me, they shipped the item already, claiming it was too late to stop the shipping. I received the item, however this time magnetic metal button was defective. Not only it doesn’t close properly, but it had a hazard issue as the metal part was pointy, sticking out. It cut my finger, and I was bleeding all over it. I wrote them back asking for a return as it’s not usable as it is. They once again did not return my email for one week. Then instead of honoring my return request, they offered me a 10% discount. How in the world am I going to use something that will continue cutting my finger?? I wrote back to them reiterating this and have gotten no answer whatsoever. Once they sell their product they simply don’t care and make it EXTREMELY challenging to reach out to them in any way. They claim they accept returns, but good luck, because the reality is that you find yourself in a loophole of writing to them and getting no response, or a response that isn’t helpful. Their customer service truly sucks. I normally don’t write reviews but this whole process got me so frustrated that I wanted to warn the customers. If you are considering buying anything from them, be prepared not be be able to return it or get super frustrated with the customer service.

  • In December of 2022, I purchased a Monos Metro Sling in Black Nylon, and for a couple months greatly enjoyed occasional use of this product as a cross-body bag –– the bag itself is functional yet sleek. HOWEVER, the bag's zipper (which is explicitly advertised on the product page as "Anti-Catch"!) began to continually catch on the fabric lining of the inner edge / zipper tape. After having to tug it loose a couple of times, the zipper than stopped closing the teeth on both sides, rendering the bag open at all times and completely useless! Worse yet has been Monos' customer service: a month after submitting a warranty claim for the product's advertised 2-year warranty (which should cover and include damage the product sustained by itself with only occasional use), I have gotten no response. Even after sending weekly emails, the most I have gotten is an automated email response each time, and at one point they even sent an email listing some random employees' name, asking me to "rate [my] experience" with the "team member that assisted you"–– which is funny, since I have gotten no human response since my first email. With a bit of searching I found various threads warning of Monos' poor customer service and response to warranty claims regarding their luggage, but for as simple of a product as an every-day bag, their (lack of) response has turned me from a customer who would otherwise enjoy their aesthetically attractive products into one who will be warning others to STAY AWAY so as to avoid this horrible experience!

  • This duffel bag looks lovely. The color, design, and aesthetic is pleasing. However, the duffel bag did not fit under the seat of a Lufthansa Airbus 320 aircraft (common sized plane). It was very awkward to stow under the seat while making things uncomfortable as it eliminated legroom completely. If you are buying this bag, prepare to having to stow it in the overhead bin along with your roller bag. 3 stars for this non practical bag.

  • I ordered the carry on plus in light blue (it was the cheapest color). First issue I found is that I couldn’t pull the handle all the way out after putting my clothes in there. It gets stuck if you load it with clothes which is what you are supposed to do with luggage. Second issue is that the outside gets scuffed very easily. I went on two plane rides and ended up checking my luggage and it looks beat to hell. Wish I would have seen the reviews prior to purchase. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

  • I purchased 6 suitcases between my husband and I. On my second trip with the luggage my large suitcase dented in significantly. I have never had this happen with a piece of luggage before - I had no idea the luggage was so fragile! It was the most expensive luggage I have ever purchased. I contacted Monos - and they suggested I push it back out, which I tried - but it's still off - the zipper is not working easily. I got back in touch with Monos and said I wanted an exchange for that piece of dented luggage - and they suggested I make a claim. The page gives you the run around. I feel very frustrated - and wish I had not bought this luggage.

The suitcases are fragile. They should be made to be sturdy with travel. If the suitcases break and dent in so soon after purchase - they should be replaced.

  • Bought an entire set (3 pieces) and I have traveled quite a few times using these bags. They scratch easily and the "magic eraser" they provide doesn't really help. On a recent trip from CHS to EWR, it didn't survive baggage handling (see pic below). The airline actually had amazing customer service but couldn't replace this brand. When I asked Monos to replace under their warrant, they claim: "Our lifetime limited warranty only covers: - Cracks or breaks in the shell - Wheels, handles, or telescoping handles that break off or are no longer usable - Zippers that can no longer be opened or closed". Monos is asking me to find a local bootmaker to see if I can fix it...saying they will reimburse me. That's a hassle as I don't have a car and I'm new to my town. $300 wasted. Don't buy these bags.

    Their so-called Lifetime Warranty.

  • For years I believed in travelling as a "one bagger" or with one single bag. However, as my destinations increased year after year, I got tired of having to haul a heavy backpack on my back and needed a solution. As a previous Tumi and Samsonite consumer, I wanted to try a new luggage brand and move into a hard case product with wheels to make it easy for me to travel. I ended up purchasing a Monos Carry-On Pro and "WOW" it has made my travel life so much easier! What made this product a "win" for me were several factors: lifetime warranty, fluid functionality of the 360 degree wheels, front laptop compartment, built-in compression pad and not to mention the bonus of anti-microbial laundry bag, two shoe bags, and a vegan leather luggage tag. The value and quality was surpassed anything I have owned in the past and literally can't wait to see how Monos evolves their product. Tip - The front laptop pocket makes it so easy to remove your laptop during TSA checks and while waiting to board your plane.

My only suggestion is - I would love the carry-on plus hardcase to be expandable since many of my clothing pieces during the winter are larger than summer.

  • Customer service and ordering were great. Asked for more discount and they sent me a $10 gift card. Used it ONE time as a carry on. The zipper ripped. Wasn’t even tight. It’s just poorly made. It scuffs on anything but that’s just marks. I want to return it, they refuse because I used it. It’s junk. Save your money. Get the Amazon one that you can return if it sucks.

Return policy for junk products. It’s also very small inside. I got the outside computer compartment. It and the back hands take up a third of the suitcase.

  • I love my Monos Carry On Pro, I have since travelled to 5 countries over 30,000 miles and it still looks like new. I have only cleaned it once using the eraser sponge that was included. I read some other reviews saying the quality is average and the material is flimsy compared to Rimowa. I actually own both, I have the Rimowa Check In and the Monos Carry On. It is too bad I can' attach a video here but the Rimowa polycarbonate is actually a lot thinner and flexible than the Monos shell. People are getting confused with Polycarbonate hardshell versus Aluminum. If you walk into a Rimowa store you can feel it first hand. Having both Rimowa and Monos, you can tell the detail and quality Monos has put in their cases from the stitching, to the choice of wheels and interior finishes. Attached my check in Rimowa on the left and my Monos Carry On Pro on the right.

I would like a Hybrid Check In and am waiting for that!

  • Nice colors, average quality for what you pay & ridiculous return policy.

I'm keeping my Carry-On Plus Pro but my wife did not like the duffel or her regular Carry-On Plus luggage. They charged $60 to return both items, $20 for the duffel and $40 for the carry-on. If I had known this, I simply would have tried another brand that allows you to review the product without the worry of losing this kind of money if you don't like it. As others have mentioned, the quality is very average with the shell being very thin and flimsy. I guarantee there are better options for the same or less money.

  • I first bought another suitcase from a new Australian brand and was very disappointed. I found Monos from this site and Im blown away by the quality of this carryon and also how beautiful it is. It’s very quiet when rolling; it literally wont make a sound if you’re inside the airport on the smooth floors. I gasped the first time I realized this; it barely feels like you’re carrying anything. It looks super elegant and the quality is outstanding. I was debating on getting this carryon or the one from away and I couldn’t be happier with my choice! My friend has the away one and it doesn't look as nice in person (seems like cheaper material), this Monos suitcase feels very luxurious to use. I love everything about my carryon, thank you!!

  • The luggage is overpriced, the quality average and their customer service is horrible. Purchased luggage well in advance of travel dates keeping in mind shipping dates etc BUT delivery dates kept changing from one day to the next for a week. Then the delivery kept changing again. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY.

    Feedback

They could review their inventory so that when you pay you have a reasonable expected date of delivery AND change their delivery provider from UPS to a reliable provider. Absolutely unacceptable when every other company you transact with can provide delivery of their product with reliable dates. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM MONOS.

I love that they are the first luggage brand to be climate neutral certified and use all Vegan materials. The customer service are super knowledgable. I have since added their Dover Grey Metro Duffel to my collection.

They seem to have a hard time staying in stock, I've been eyeing the check-in sizes and they constantly are on Pre-Order.

  • I have two Monos suitcases - the large and medium and have used them extensively travelling all over Europe for the last two years and they have been very durable, hold a lot and are well designed. I would buy them again and also love the packing compression cubes. I also purchased the trolly bag and was less enthused about it as it felt a bit lower quality due to the vegan leather (plastic) material. Do note that the suitcases are heavy!
