Monos Reviews

4.2

Monos earns polarized reviews: praised for sleek, lightweight designs, smooth wheels, smart organization (compression panels, front laptop pocket), and distinctive colors, yet criticized for fragile shells that scuff, dent, and crack, finicky or sticking telescopic handles, and inconsistent customer service and warranty experiences. Reviews indicate the luggage can work well—rolling smoothly and packing efficiently for frequent travel—but durability of the outer shell and hardware issues, plus slow responses, are recurring drawbacks to weigh before buying.

  • As a brand, I really like them as they make appealing/nicely designed products. However, I really cannot recommend them due to the quality. I had 2 of these luggages (one was a warranty replacement) that both got shell damaged while I was travelling. Both didn't last more than 10 trips. The first time the shell dented near the wheel so I was unable to wheel it around. The second time it dented at the top corner and then cracked completely. Customer service was a bit slow but they did end up replacing my product, so not too many complaints there. Even with the warranty I will not be replacing this again, it is just too much of a hassle and unnecessary waste for a luggage in this price point to be breaking every 2-3 years.

  • I’ve had my carry on for about 3 years now and it’s been great! One corner is damaged from being checked during an international flight, but it’s cosmetic and doesn’t affect the use of the suitcase. Other than that there’s been no major wear from my 5/6 annual round trip flights. I have the beige color and I give it it a good scrub with a magic eraser when I come home (I think it came with one) to keep it looking nice) I like that the lock is on the side, not the top. The handle is comfy and locks at several levels, it’s always felt secure. The wheels are smooth and roll nicely however they can get a little tight when overpacked and rolling on carpet. Overall it’s a great suitcase - I just think it maybe a little overpriced

  • Best customer service! I had to replace my small suitcase and they took great care of arraigning the replacement. Fast and easy! Also love the little travel origination bags - they are soo convenient!!

  • I purchased Monos luggage in sage-green: a large check-in suitcase in February 2024, a matching carry-on in May 2024, and an additional medium check-in in February 2025. The sage-green color was an optional upgrade. I selected this distinctive color for its visibility on airport conveyor belts and paid an additional fee for the option. After the initial use of the large check-in, black scuff marks appeared that were difficult to remove, even with the included Magic Eraser. In April 2025, I discovered a crack near the lock mechanism of the large check-in while cleaning it. Monos honored their lifetime warranty by promptly sending a replacement without requiring the return of the original suitcase. However, the new suitcase did not arrive before a trip to Punta Cana, so the cracked suitcase was used for that trip. The crack was minor and did not interfere with usage. After returning from Punta Cana, I did not inspect the luggage until July 2025, when two additional cracks were found on the original large check-in—one near a wheel and another by the top handle. The medium-sized check-in and the carry-on showed only typical scuff marks and no structural damage. Currently, I own three sage-green Monos suitcases in varying sizes, each representing a significant investment. Since my initial purchase, I have used them for only five trips. At 68 years old, I had hoped this would be the last set of luggage I needed. My primary concern is the potential for further cracking across all the cases, as experienced with the original. While I initially regretted choosing a light color, I now regret the overall purchase. Based on the recurring issues with the outer shell’s durability, I cannot recommend Monos luggage, regardless of color. Update 8/3/2025 I chose to use my damaged Monos large check-in suitcase again for a trip to Cancun, Mexico, as my wife and I needed additional space for duty-free items. Based on the attached photographs, this suitcase has reached the end of its serviceable life. It sustained significant new damage, including a substantial crack along the side and the complete detachment of the locking mechanism, resulting in a large opening. In contrast, my replacement large check-in only exhibited typical scuff marks and did not develop any cracks. I hope that this issue remains isolated and does not affect my other Monos luggage items in the same manner as my original large check-in
