I wrote this as a comment underneath a commenter with a similar experience, but i still wanted to one star. This food caused rapid weight loss in my dog (A husky mixed breed) while feeding her in a calorie surplus. Maev was a more calorie dense whole food option, so we went with it as we wanted our girl to gain a teensy bit more weight. She’s unbelievably picky and liked the taste, so I was just happy to see her like a food! Within a couple months she went from 42 to 34 pounds eating around 1800 calories a day (major surplus). We didn’t have a scale at home then, she’s got thick fur, and she wasn’t acting any different, so the weight loss snuck in quickly. In that first picture on the floor I noticed her ribs seemed to show in her fur pattern, so we made a vet appointment quickly. Seeing 34 on the scale was a gut punch, I felt so bad. We performed numerous costly tests with the vet to make sure she was okay outside of her diet, but ultimately the only marker seemed to be low alkaline phosphatase on her panel (a common marker of malnutrition). When we switched to a different brand she rapidly gained the weight back and was back to normal within a few weeks (picture on the bench, no more pattern in the fur!). What a scary and costly experience, I obviously do not recommend.
