  • I've tried a lot of coffee alternative "shots" that promote clarity/focus without the jitteriness of coffee. Joyshot is probably the best out of them all. Two flavors - Mango-Yuzu and Cocoa-Vanilla (my favorite) I tried the variety pack. The ingredients are essentially the same, just the flavors are different. They have key B vitamins (niacin, B5, B6, B12) and Vitamin C at 100% of RDI, a smidgen of vitamin D (5 mcg = 100 IU), and 715 mg of adaptogens that include ashwagandha, green coffee bean extract (providing 100 mg of caffeine), rhodiola, cordyceps mushroom, and L-theanine. Have I noticed any difference - NO. However, whenever trying "adaptogens" the dose, the frequency (how often), and for how long (consistency) may be necessary to see a difference. They are not so transparent on the exact amount of the adaptogens, stating it as a "proprietary blend". How do I know that they did the research on what are appropriate amounts? Cost - $3.70 - $4.80 per "shot" or dose depending on which size you get and subscription or one-time purchase. The cheapest is the larger size bottle on a subscription.

  • I drank my first JoyShot when the six-pack arrived at 3 pm on a day when I'd been reorganizing and cleaning early morning. The cocoa-vanilla flavor was pretty good, though somewhat medicinal; I appreciated the cayenne. Soon after, I received an amazing burst of energy and wrote a blog post, swept the first floor, planned a daughter's Christmas trip, and reorganized the backyard -- all by dinner. I definitely felt more energetic than when I drink a latte, my usual afternoon pick-me-up. I'm not sure yet whether I will drink a JoyShot daily, as recommended, but I will definitely keep them on hand for days when I need extra energy in the afternoon or evening.
