Reviews mention

  • Velvety, creamy texture
  • Inventive, distinctive flavors
  • High-quality, clean ingredients
  • Strong dairy-free options
  • Overly sweet for some palates
  • Inconsistent flavor intensity
  • Icy texture after refreezing
  • Rich, heavy mouthfeel

Jeni's Ice Creams wins praise in reviews for its ultra-creamy texture, inventive flavors like Brambleberry Crisp, Gooey Butter Cake, and Brown Butter Almond Brittle, and strong dairy-free/gluten-free options—so yes, the brand is good. Reviews also flag drawbacks: many find it very sweet and rich, inconsistently punchy by flavor, prone to freezer burn or iciness in pints, and expensive compared to alternatives.

Don’t be afraid to go simple with flavors

  • I think that Jeni's quality has dropped in recent years as they've sourced their dairy differently.

    Feedback

Their prices have also risen so much.

  • I've been to the brick and mortar and its so good. I imagine the pints would be amazing too!

    Feedback

    No improvements!

  • Amazing flavors and very addicting! Have enjoyed the darkest chocolate and gooey butter cake and can attest to both being incredible

  • Really great flavors! I love the convenience of picking up a pint in stores or at a grocery.

  • I've never loved an ice cream more than Gooey Butter Cake. It's worth the $8-9 price at Whole Foods. However, I'm not obsessed with any of their other flavors! Boston Cream Pie in particular was a let down- the base tasted like plain vanilla, and the mix ins were scarce. I recently popped into one of their in-person locations and was disappointed that the flavors I was most excited to try were only available in pints!

    Expand the flavor availability in-store!

  • Absolutely delicious ice cream. I’ve been impressed with every flavor so far (except the cinnamon roll one). It’s hard to not eat the whole pint. The Boston Cream pie, the bramble berry crisp, and this one I tried once they tasted like Lucky Charms.. all so unique with a rich, high quality taste.

It’s pricy as heck at some places. I only buy it when it’s on sale and even then it can be hard to stomach $8-10/pint on the sale price.

  • I wish this wasn’t so good…this is hands down the best ice cream brand on the market. Every flavor I’ve tried is fantastic.

Would love to see this company become Certified B and work on innovative vegan ice cream flavors.

  • The flavors are absolutely delicious and unique. Additionally, going into the scoop shop is a fun experience because they let you try as many flavors you would like before making a final decision. I love this place <3

  • So tasty and such innovative flavors! Really love their origin story and how they push the limits in their creations. So yummy, too!

  • Yummy ice cream with innovative flavors! I love trying different varieties and getting their waffle cones in store.

The cost of a pint of Jeni's is quite high compared to other ice cream brands, and it's not that much better than others to justify the price.

  • Amazing flavor combinations that are sure to surprise and delight. Love the brand and love the seasonal drops, just wish they wouldn't be selling out so much!

  • Jeni's ice cream truly transcends the category... to the extent where it kinda ruined supermarket ice cream for me. The extra elements (cake, caramel, almond brittle, etc.) are great and always in the right proportion, but even the base ice cream itself is really delicious. Perfect texture straight out of the freezer. It's expensive for SURE, but I don't mind paying a few dollars more for something this special, esp. when it's clear that a lot goes into the product. Great host gift/alternative to a bottle of wine.

  • I love Jeni’s ice creams! Flavors are fun, innovative, and interesting.

Some flavors are better than others and I wish Jeni’s had better distribution to local grocery stores.

  • Jeni's is so so good. I've been enjoying their ice cream for years given they're an Ohio company and I'm from there. Flavors are really unique too with good textures mixed in the creaminess.

Some flavor combos are legit too weird for me. That shouldn't stop them from continuing to make them though. Different strokes for different folks.

  • Whoooo baby! Feels appropriate to write this review on National Ice Cream Day. As a huuuge ice cream fan, I have to say, Jeni's checks the all the boxes. There is a wide variety of unique flavors, so the whole family can be satisfied. Unlike some other competitors, I never feel like the chunks are too much or too sticky and compromise a bite of the ice cream (coming from a Vermonter also). Most notably though, is the creeaaammiest, base you'll find. 10/10 would recommend.

$9/pint at my local grocer is a hard pill to swallow...

  • When I used to live in Atlanta, we used to go to Jeni's whenever we got the chance. I recently saw a pint at Whole Foods, and had to get it. It was just as good as I remembered, and my boyfriend (who I introduced it to) loved it as well. Favorite flavor has to be Brambleberry Crisp

  • Jeni’s has mastered the art of craft ice cream, offering small-batch scoops that feel both nostalgic and wildly inventive. Each flavor is a carefully composed experience—rich, velvety, and layered with high-quality ingredients that actually taste like what’s on the label. Standouts like Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Darkest Chocolate showcase deep, toasty complexity, while fruity options like Brambleberry Crisp balance tartness with sweet crumble pieces. The texture is impeccably smooth, thanks to a cream-cheese base that adds a subtle tang without heaviness.
