Halo Top earns mixed reviews: the brand delivers a credible low-calorie, higher-protein alternative that many find creamy enough with creative flavors like Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Caramel Cookie Crunch, and Keto Macadamia Nut Cookie, but it often falls short of full-fat ice cream with icy textures, artificial sweetener aftertaste, and inconsistent mix-ins. Reviews cite satisfying volume and flavor variety as strengths, while weaknesses include watery or grainy textures, uneven flavor quality, and some products (like ready-to-bake cookies) baking up too soft and overly sweet.
I have the strawberry cheesecake mix-ins version of Halo Top which is one of their higher calorie options at 490 calories per pint. I think that it is still not a very good ice cream. I would rather spend the money and calories on something more fulfilling.
I’ve been eating Halo Top for years. I love how low calorie it is and that it has protein. The flavors are all pretty good. I liked the new mix in variety. The caramel cookie crunch was my favorite flavor.
I love Halo Top as a light frozen treat because of its creative flavors and great taste. Most of the time lower-calorie ice cream can be lacking in flavor. I don't experience that with Halo Top. I love that they have fun flavors like chocolate cake batter that make it possible to have a fun treat without all the calories.
I've tried two flavors from this brand. The chocolate chip cookie dough was pretty good, but the cookies & cream felt way too watery and tasteless. This mixed result makes me hesitant to want to try new flavors because what if I pick another dud?
