Hairtage was founded by Dr. Kelly-Ann McCleary who could no longer ignore the health disparity problem right in front of her. This problem was rooted in the hair and health correlation where Black women are overexposed to toxic chemicals in their environment that primarily stems from the hair products they use. So, with her research knowledge, a small amount of seed funding, relentless drive and a tad bit of frustration, Doctor K decided to throw herself into carrying out this vision by launching Hairtage, where Black women can protect their health and hair with every hair product they purchase. Hairtage is the only safe anti toxic* space where prevention meets haircare for Black women. Their vision is to create a world where Black women are not unnecessarily exposed to toxic chemicals in their environment and more likely to die from certain conditions. The Hairtage commitment to their community is regulation, empowerment, and access for all Black women of all hair textures and hair style preferences.
