I tried the shampoo and conditioner as sold in target- and it was fine. I can’t say it was better or worse that anything else I’ve tried- it made my hair feel average. For context- I’ve got thick, wavy hair.

I really loved function of beauty. My hair smelled amazing and felt amazing.

Hack for people with sensitive scalps!

I've been using Function of Beauty for almost 3 years and it completely brought my hair back to life. I've changed my formulas to match what my hair actually needs (especially during Winter vs. Summer), and now I wouldn't go back. I have dyed blonde hair and before I was using FoB it had what my hairdresser called "borderline irreversible" damage from a previous salon that my formula helped repair really well, to the point she asks me for my haircare routine. I know some people have had issues with the formulas but it's worked wonders for me and when I've had to use drugstore shampoos on vacations or work trips I've definitely noticed a difference in the ease of detangling with conditioners and how long my hair doesn't go greasy. Plus, the packaging is really pretty and the personalization is a nice touch. For reference, I have medium to long straight hair that I have dyed blonde in a salon for 7 years. I switched to the purple shampoo formula in the last year, and my current formula is for color protection, deep condition, oil control, reduce brassiness, and strengthen.

I think the packaging is super cute and the stuff smells really good I love the customization but I do feel like it made my hair a little greasy.

I had a great experience using it, and I think the concept is fun. I got it as a gift and if I am honest I would probably not have bought it on my own (hence why my subscription ended after my refill). It is just pricey and I never found the products to be groundbreaking or worth the price. There are shampoos and conditioners that I prefer from the drugstore - for a fraction of the price.

It’s not a bad product, but I felt that products I found at my local shops were more effective for what I was looking for. I was looking for cleaning my hair of all builded up products and hydrating.

This product was something that caught my eye and wanted to try out. I have curly hair and finding products for my hair can be challenging and expensive. The shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and make my hair feel so soft. I grabbed some oils to add to both the shampoo and conditioner that help replenish my hair and the results have been noticeable. I love that there are different hair types offered with many different oils to add depending on what you’re looking for.

The custom skin serum has changed my skin in the best way. I’ve been using their shampoo and conditioner (with changing formulas) on and off for years to mixed success. I find the functionality of their website a little frustrating and I don’t like that you can’t order shampoo and conditioner separately (since I go through them at different rates). Still, the skincare is amazing.

Smells ridiculously good. I like using their wavy conditioner.

Both times i ordered one of my products were broken

I tried this custom shampoo and conditioner a few years ago and I was not a fan. It left my hair feeling dirty and it just didn’t work well with my hair. However, I got the peach scent and it smelt phenomenal.

It was really hard finding a combination that worked for my hair, Couldnt manage the oil while also handling my split ends, ended up just being too much money

Very average product and doesn't feel super personalized.

I’ve used function of beauty for a little over a year and I’m a big fan of their products! I find that the customized formula does address my specific hair concerns, but truly I keep ordering it because the rose scent has become part of my signature. I don’t have to use much product when I’m washing with function, making the size of the bottles perfect for me!

I've used Function of Beauty hair care for 4+ years now and I've loved it the entire time! I love that I can tweak my formula as my life, and therefore hair goals, change and shift. The products also always smell amazing! Full disclosure, I currently work at Function of Beauty, but the best part is that I was using their products (and a huge fan!) for 2 YEARS before I even landed this job! :)

One of my favorite hair care brands out there. I have used Function of Beauty shampoo for over two years now (even before my former employer, L Catterton, invested in the brand) and have no plans of churning as of yet :-)! Love, love the packaging and the branding. The product quality is also great - my hair is very long and tends to be very dry; my custom shampoo+conditioner+mask hydrates my hair without weighing it down. I also love the smell (have used the milkshake / lavender).

I've used FOB for a few years now and while I love the packaging, customization, and price point for the size, I feel that I need to move on and try something new. When I first started, I could tell a difference, but now it is not anything game changing or making a clear difference in the state of my hair.
