Dollar Shave Club reviews assert the brand once worked very well but recent changes make it worse: many customers praise convenient subscriptions and shave butter, yet most report that the new Club-series blades and lighter handles shave poorly, dull quickly, and sometimes detach mid-shave.

I used to recommend this brand to everyone and gifted this product to several friends. Truly loved it. I would have gladly paid more for their previous blades and handles. But wasn't given that option. Was forced fed some new crappy blade that went dull before I even finished my first shave. Unsubscribed and am looking at other options now. Sad.

Like many recent reviews, I’ve also been a DSC member and was very content with the executive blades and handle. The recent change to the “club razor” and handle are garbage! I accidentally purchased a new pack at my local pharmacy thinking it would still work with my executive handle. Long story short I ordered a new set along with a new handle and it feels like I’m shaving with a dual blade disposable Bic blade. It’s now just a low quality product that produces a poor result and experience. Don’t waste your money. It’s time for me to try the competition or even go back to Gillette.

I first started using DSC when they were brand new. Razors and handles then were great quality. The newest razors are so cheap it’s like shaving with a rusty used blade straight out of the pack. The new blades literally pulled out hair instead of cutting. Amazon has their own blades and handles now that are 1. cheaper than DSC, and 2. far superior quality. I wouldn’t waste my time and money with DSC if I were you.

I've been with DSC for about 10-11 years now. Loved the Executive. Razors lasted a long, long time and the shave was as good, or better than premium razors. However, the recent change to the "Club Series" handles and blades have all but ruined the brand. No doubt as a cost saving measure, they have switched from the heavy duty and reliable handles and blades of old to something that feels cheap and flimsy, leaves knicks and bumps, doesn't shave as closely or consistently, and has blade-locking issues. I appreciate the new accessories they have for sale, but these new razors are absolutely terrible. I have cancelled my subscription and advised them of such.

We have been using DSC for several years. Previous razors were good. No concerns but then a few months ago they brought out a new set and they are absolutely shit! Time for a change, we are on our second batch and they are still just as shit.

The razors are fine. I used them for several years but now find that there are other options I prefer. The customer service is horrible. I cancelled my subscription in June and have been billed twice since then. I contacted the company through all three options given - there is no way to call - and have gotten zero responses. I would stay away from this company.

We have used Dollar Shave for our whole household for years. Recently they've changed their handles and blades and the quality is not good. The handle is cheap and light. The shave is no longer close and the blades are rough on the skin. When we contacted customer service their reply was basically...this is what customers wanted. I find that hard to believe. I'm sure it's because they wanted to cut costs. We cancelled our subscription.

When DSC first came out I loved it. Only issue was clogging. Now they totally switched the razor and it sucks to be honest. Blades don’t seem to hold an edge at all as I have to go over areas multiple times. I shave my whole body and yes they still get clogged ever with the spacing, just easier to clean. I then read they sold out. I will be canceling my membership after many many years

I've been a dollar shave club member for over 4 years and loved them so much. However, within the past year they have switched over to new razors that are nowhere near as good. They are not as sharp, awkwardly angled, and can cause nicks and bumps. I had a stock pile of the old and just got into the new ones. I'll be canceling my subscription.

We used to love dollar shave club long time customer 5 years+. We had a stock pile of razors so we paused our membership. We just started back up this June and they had switched the razor completely. The new blade is trash, I shaved once and and I have to go over it twice sometimes 3 times because I am still prickly, and that causes razor burn. My husband has the same problem. He has sensitive skin and he shaved with the new blade once and he went and got a Gillette razor the next day. We cancelled our subscription.

I used to love these razors. The new style is nothing special, the cartridges are thinner, the blades spaced further apart, and the shave us not as close as with the old cartridges. I read that the original handles and blades were repackaged Dorco blades. I’ve already ordered a bundle from Amazon. Most likely will not order from DSC again.

I've been a member since around 2015, maybe earlier, and I would swear by the old Executive razors, ever since they discontinued those razers and I've been using the 6-blade series, I cannot recommend this company any longer. Everyone has different shaving needs, in terms of cost it's still a decent value because I doubt you'll find many blades worth a damn at that price, but the new ones I don't think are. The razor heads fall off randomly while I've shaving the back of my head, and I have a bit of a roll back there which is always difficult to shave, but even more so when the razor heads fall off, the shave doesn't feel as smooth as they used to be, and even the old "Shave Butter" which I loved, is now a different formula that doesn't really feel worth it. I stopped using that shave butter alltogether now. I'm considering buying some executive razor heads from ebay because those were truly amazing. DSC has gone downhill in quality and I don't recommend them at all. Company used to be 10/10, now it's like a 4.

I have used this service for several years. I have until lately, been very satisfied with the product. But lately they are more interested in selling additional products then supporting what they sell. I have had two blades recently failed because the plastic strip in the blade came out. A week ago I sent a inquiry to their customer service with no response. This seems to be a trend with him because from other comments I see here they are not pulling the same quality control they did initially.

Sudden dissatisfied… I have been a Dollar Shave Club member/customer for almost 10 years. I had the Executive Razor handle and blades before the big switch last year. I had some extra blades to use up from the COVID years when I wasn’t shaving everyday and put the new razor handle and blades away until May this year (2023). I’ve been using the new blades for the past couple months. I was 100% happy before., was looking forward to this new offering as I would try new products from Dollar Shave Club regularly and found several more things I really liked. I was a happy customer and let men around me know what a great product it was. Fast forward to the new blades which I started using f in May 2023. Sigh. I’ve been very disappointed. At first, I thought it was just the new design that I needed to get used to….but after several months that hasn’t happened. I like the looks of the new handle and the blades have a sleek new design, but for me, that where the good stuff ends… Sadly, the reboot feels to me like a big drop in quality and quality control. Some of the blades have been okay. Some…not so much. They seemed to dull super quickly for my facial hair compared to my old blades and the new handle is much more difficult to use to get a close shave, including the eject button being very awkwardly placed compared to the old handle. More thank one morning I’ve spent minutes of my day attempting to reattach a blade. Not cool. . I thought, well, I just remember it wrong…but then my wife found a cartridge of the old blades. NOPE. The old Executive Blades shaved me close and comfortable like an old friend coming back for a visit. They stayed sharper several shaves longer than the new blades. I went from completely satisfied with the Executive blades to unsatisfied with the new blades to really disappointed and dissatisfied I with being able to make a fair comparison. So at this point, I’ve requested a starter pack from a competitor to DSC. If their shave is better, I’m planning to leave. If their blades aren’t any better, I’ll keep looking. I have no regrets being a DSC customer for 10 years and wish them well. Making a big change doesn’t work for every customer and from some of these reviews, they have happy customers still. That’s great. At this point, I’m looking for what I had with my Executive blade package somewhere else…I used to look forward to shaving every morning and took it for granted. I want that feeling again.

The new razor is garbage. I’ve been a DSC member over 5 years and I just cancelled my subscription because the new razor handle is awful. The razor head constantly falls off and is dangerous to try to put back on mid-shave. I gave the new razor a try for a month but I’m done. I recommended the old DSC to all my friends and family, but now, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Pre New-Blade... I would've (and in fact, have) given them a 10. However, since the new blades, I'm sad to report that I'm now an ex-club member. The "old" blade is the one shown in the picture on this site. The new blades are featured on their website. The new blades are cheap and not at all compatible with sensitive skin. My attempts to contact them to cancel my account have been unsuccessful so I will likely have to block the credit card to cancel. It's sad because I had been a DSC member since August of 2014.

After years of using DSC razors you gave me the new razor blades. These are the dullest razors I have every used. It takes at least 3 times to shave my beard. I will go back to commericial blades again. Very dissapointed.

The shave itself was just average, however multiple times the lubricant strip would fall off the razor head. Also the head itself seemed to detach rather easily from the lightest of taps to rinse. Price was good, but not real impressed with much else.

I emailed their customer service to make edits to my order, and they never responded. Plus, they sent my order to my old address even after I changed it to my current address. I would never recommend dollar shave club due to their horrible customer service alone.

Loved it at 1st. The blades were awesome & sturdy but then then this year they came out with cheap blades & it just pops off the handle the whole time. Terrible! Don't waste your money people! I absolutely hate the new razors they came out with.
