  • Cafe-level flavor consistency
  • Ultra-convenient brewing experience
  • Impressive roaster partnerships
  • Smooth, strong iced lattes
  • Excessive packaging waste
  • Freezer-space requirements
  • Limited box customization
  • Occasional bitter flavor notes

Cometeer Coffee earns strong reviews for delivering cafe-level flavor and exceptional convenience—flash‑frozen capsules dissolve into smooth, fresh‑tasting coffee that shines for iced lattes and quick hot cups—yet the brand draws criticism for excessive packaging, freezer-space demands, and subscription frustrations. Reviews also note inconsistent customization of roasters/flavors, occasional damaged or melted pods, and a few complaints of bitter taste or very high caffeine, making it outstanding for speed and variety but imperfect for sustainability purists or those wary of subscriptions.

  • Friend got me a set for my birthday and I absolutely loved using it. So easy and flavourful! Great for days when you're just too lazy to brew coffee. Only downside is that it's quite expensive, and the packaging comes with a lot of extra stuff to keep the pods cool.

  • Easy & quick! great alternative when we go on trip, or we need a cup of tasty coffee at the office (sorry office coffee)

  • Cometeer has been my longest standing subscription! The thought of preparing a capsule every morning gets me out of bed :) I love that I can enjoy a different roast/roaster every day of the week with the variety pack. I haven't been to a coffee shop in ages (unless traveling) and have put the Chemex in storage at this point.

Definitely feels a bit pricey when I get the credit card statement, but the convenience, quality, and joy I get out of it makes it worth it to me.

  • the best tasting quick-coffee on the market. can do cold or hot brew so easily. saves me a ton of time every morning!

would be nice if an insert was included in the shipment that gave more information about the roasters chosen that month

  • I've been using Cometeer since January 2022 and the coffee is delicious and convenient, but quite a bit more expensive than pulling shots or doing pour over at home at $64. As of August Cometeer has decided to charge $9.99 for each shipment. That's effectively at 16% Increase in price in less than a year. I find it hard to justify paying that, and I'm looking for less expensive alternatives. It may mean dusting off my espresso maker.

  • I LOVE Cometeer. It's flash frozen instant coffee that you can melt and put over water or milk and create amazing cafe-like drinks at home without any fussy machinery. The flavor and the aroma keep incredibly well and I'm truly happy with the selection they offer from the best roasters around the country.

I would love to be able to buy a la carte without the subscription model and have more autonomy and the ability to select which coffees I'm receiving.

  • Coffee…outstanding, if you can get it in the way it is intended…frozen. Their whole business model revolves around exquisitely sourced coffee, “flash frozen” to ensure the “it most freshness”. What you receive 20% of the time is a shipment that arrives “ totally thawed” which defeats the purpose of their “model”. In their FAQ section they advise if the coffee comes melted, just use it in a Latte instead…WTF, really? We aren’t living up to our commitment so “screw you” and drink it this way. Rather than change their packaging to hold more dry ice so any delays in shipping by UPS will not cause “melting” or ship Next Day Air instead. So…they generally will re-ship which has to be costly. Rather than do one of the two shipping alternatives mentioned, they just added a $9.99 shipping charge to help “cover” their added cost. Yep, “stick it” to the customer to pay for Cometeer’s and UPS’s incompetence…avoid Cometeer at all costs.

  • I have spend hundreds of dollars trying to find anything that could give me coffee shop flavor at home. When I saw this I figured it would be another gimmick and quickly dismissed it. My husband saw some reviews and ordered it as a surprise for me and I’m glad he did. I am obsessed with all the flavors I received so far. I add mine to some milk with a little sugar and it is phenomenal every time!

Possibly being able to select favorite flavors.

  • Predatory business model, don't mind killing with allergens. They literally make you have a subscription upon purchase that you can cancel. If you remember to. And if you pay attention. They Also didn't ask anything about known allergens. Like the almonds they sent me in HALF of my coffee pods. They literally said "We'll send you a sample that you'll like!" then proceeded to try and kill me. Just the worst.

Answer people who just want to get coffee that won't kill them. That would be nice. Also this site isn't one I have ever used, signed up JUST because I'm that annoyed.

  • Excellent coffee, super easy to prep.

Perhaps a “double shot” option? Makes a great 8 oz cup, if you go much larger the taste is a bit diluted.

  • Their gift box is really good for a coffee lover! I sent it to a couple of my friends and they said they love it and keep subscribed.

  • I just made my first Cometeer order after family and coworker had raved about it. It definitely hasn't disappointed me! I haven't made hot coffee with it, but the instructions on how to make iced coffee were super easy to follow and I loved the dark blend of coffee I've been drinking. Not too acidic and the perfect amount caffeine. It's also a time saver in the morning when I don't feel like making my own coffee and cleaning my coffee pot.

It feels a bit pricey for a subscription service. Pods are equivalent to just over $3, which when making an iced drink is still cheaper than a cafe cold brew. I think it would be more worth the investment if Cometeer shared more in-depth stories behind the coffee brands and the farmers they work with.

  • Amazing, the best iced coffee you can make at home.

  • This is my new obsession. I learned about Cometeer through my husband and his friends. The frozen coffee pods are easy to thaw and I love where they source from (for example, Counter Culture Coffee). If you’re a coffee snob, don’t sleep on Cometeer. I’m less picky but my husband is super picky about his coffee, so the fact that he gravitates towards these rather than our beans says a lot. For me, it’s more about convenience -- I used to spend 15-20 minutes each morning making freshly ground coffee, but now I just use Cometeer pods and make enough for two in a big carafe.

  • 10/10. Legitimately one of the best coffee cups I have ever had. I AM HOOKED! taste - 10/10 easy to use - 10/10 (no expensive machines needed) packaging - 10/10

  • Amazing, convenient, feels a lot more sustainable than the waste I generated from grinding my own coffee.

I wish I could pick exactly which coffee would be in my next box – but they are all delicious.

  • Frozen coffee shouldn't taste this good, but it does. The wizards at Cometeer have engineered (yes, engineered) a serious cup of joe. I drink *a lot* of coffee, honestly, too much. Or I used to. I'd make a full pot and refill my cup 4-5 times as I got progressively feistier. That wasn't good for anyone. With Cometeer, I can limit my coffee consumption in a much more fun & sustainable way. Each morning, I grab a new pod from my freezer (choosing between a variety of high-quality roasters they've hand-picked). A minute or so later, once my hot water is ready to go, I'll drop the slightly thawed pod into my Ember mug, pour the hot water over, stir, and I'm good to dive into a day of Zooms starry-eyed and energized. I love that I can easily try a different roaster for my 2nd cup simply by choosing a new pod and without having to make a new pot or deal with grinding beans or cups of grounds. Because the coffee is flash-frozen with hyper-consistent ground size, you get wayyy more flavor per cup than even the best traditional coffee setup. Couple all of this with new roasters rotated into the mix plus their new Decaf and Halfcaf options and it's a home run all around. Finally, they focus on an area that nearly all consumer companies miss early on—customer retention via a lightweight loyalty program. Reward your referrers, people! Cometeer sends a little Fellow mug after 1 successful invite and even more goodies after the 5th.

Subscription food/drinks always suffer from the "surprise!" box—the order you didn't realize was headed your way until it's too late. While Cometeer does allow for two types of flexibility (adjusting the date and frequency), I'd love to see a bit more intentional messaging around letting you know that your coffee is *about to be* shipped. Smart reorder forecasting is something all subscription businesses should focus on more but I wouldn't let that deter you from trying Cometeer as soon as you can!

  • Delicious tasting coffee- very flavorful - the pods work well for both hot and iced coffee …. Rivals coffee from a barista and definitely blows Keurig out of the water !!

    Feedback

Only drawback is that it’s a bit pricey -

  • The coffee is delicious. It really does taste fresh and is very convenient. It's particularly good for cold coffee drinks. It's the easiest way to have really great-tasting fresh cold coffee. Sustainability is a big plus, and the dry ice that it comes in is always fun.

The price. It's too expensive for an at-home coffee (at this point in my financial life). There is no question that the quality is superior, but still hard to justify when quality coffee like deathwish is so much cheaper.
