I love Clare paint! The sample process is great – you order swatches and they come as large sticky squares that you can apply to your walls (and restick as needed). The larger surface area of the swatch is super helpful to get a real idea of the color and much more user-friendly than traditional swatches with teenie squares. We've used Clare paint for three rooms in our house and the coverage is great, the colors are on-trend, it dries quickly, and there's not much odor.
I do think the paint calculator could be improved on their website. I've used their calculator to input my room dimensions and get an estimate of how much paint I need, and I've always ended up with 2-3x more than I needed. :-(
The large sticky paint swatches! Pure genius design for the paint sample selection process. I also loved the quiz selector. As a new homeowner, it really helped me narrow down options and pick the right color and tone.
More variety of paint colors
I was intrigued, so I went to their site. The quiz you take to find the right color for your space, needs immense work. Currently it’s a waste of time. Also, I’ve never had to pay for paint chip samples and had to wait to get them sent to me. They claim it’s so easy with them, but it’s more work, more money and wasted time to have to be sent everything. Like a lot of new product driven companies sprouting up being only online, the site is cute with snappy writing but ultimately under promising underneath all the flash. I’ll stick to my local hardware store where you can get 'free' paint swatches on demand and a local professional’s assistance.
The quiz needs a lot of work. I picked blue as my one piece with color, it’s actually turquoise. But I had to lump it in with the navy and baby blue because the choice was severely limited. Which as a designer, I found ridiculous.
After working at home for 20+ months, I was really tired of looking at poorly painted white walls but was really overwhelmed by the process I'd come to expect - going back and forth to the store for swatches, testing colors, and schlepping gallons of paint back on the subway. Clare was a revelation. The swatches stick to the wall so you can see how things will look, and they ship direct to you, it's so much less work and the zero VOC thing is super nice when you don't have the luxury of staying elsewhere while you're painting.
I wish they had some additional, higher saturated, or wilder colors for trims and other projects.
