Use hot water and soak it like a ramen worked beautifully. Despite it's maple syrup flavor, it taste both sweet and salty to me. This soaking method soften the cereal and the texture is soft and creamy like oatmeal. I was curious, so I tried eating it right out of the bag. That texture is crunchy and very flavorful. I actually like both methods. Docked a point for the sodium level. Maple syrup flavor taste sweet and salty is not exactly my thing.

I was so excited by the idea of these that I ordered the day they started selling them. Purchasing experience was good, I bought a variety pack and they were shipped quickly. These oats will not be replacing my steel cuts, the flavor is nice enough but the texture would take some getting used to and I don't think I'd ever prefer it to a chewier oat. I tried. Edit: Dropping from 3 to 2, I just tried these again and they're just so bad. It literally just tastes like I put beans in my oats.
