Calpak Travel Reviews

Best of Thingtesting4.8

Calpak Travel earns largely positive reviews for stylish, highly organized luggage and bags that hold up through frequent travel, though reports of strap tearing, peeling, stuck handles, and broken zippers raise durability concerns. Reviewers praise the Luka Duffel, Terra Duffle Backpack, and Hue carry-ons for thoughtful compartments, wipeable materials, smooth-rolling wheels, and under‑seat fit, while noting bulkiness, uncomfortable shoulder carry when overpacked, limited interior space on some front‑pocket carry‑ons, and occasional quality inconsistencies.

  • My daughter is obsessed with sky blue. When I saw the latest French blue collection, I knew it would be perfect for her! I love the color and all of the thoughtful details in the suitcase including the gingham lining, and interior pockets. This is a well made piece of luggage. The zippers and wheels work smoothly.

  • I purchased this Calpak backpack a few months ago because of the brand’s reputation for quality and travel-friendly design. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. After only a few months of normal use, one of the main shoulder straps has begun ripping away from the top of the backpack. The tear is getting worse, and it’s now at the point where I can’t comfortably or safely carry the bag on one shoulder. This is not the type of wear I would expect from a backpack marketed for travel and daily use, especially at Calpak’s price point. I take good care of my belongings and was not overloading the bag or using it in harsh conditions. This appears to be a durability and construction issue rather than misuse. While I love the look and design of the backpack, the quality simply does not match the aesthetic. A travel backpack should last far longer than a few months, and this defect makes the product unreliable for everyday use. I hope Calpak takes this feedback seriously and improves the reinforcement and stitching on their straps, because the design is great, but the execution needs work.

  • I travel pretty frequently and after shopping around for a new backpack, I purchased the Terra duffel backpack. I just used this on a trip to Scotland and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it This bag has pretty much all of the features I was looking for and more I didn't even know I needed! I love all of the functional pockets, and was so excited that I finally found a backpack that comfortably fits my 32oz water bottle! The fact that it unzips like a suitcase makes it really easy to pack but it still has a top zipper for quickly grabbing items on the go. This backpack is definitely big enough to be used for a weekend getaway but still fits comfortably under the seat in an airplane. I had a bit of difficulty sliding the backpack onto my suitcase with the trolley sleeve on my own, but other than that I'm really happy with my purchase and excited to keep using it on all my upcoming travel!

  • I'm going to Europe two times this year and needed a carry one that would meet the airlines specs. I am so impressed by this suitcase! They really thought about how what travelers need. I love the side pocket for your passport/IDs.
