Reviews mention

  • Supportive contoured footbed
  • Durable construction longevity
  • Timeless versatile designs
  • Wide style selection
  • Painful break-in period
  • Inconsistent sizing width
  • Water-sensitive cork footbed
  • Premature sole wear reports

BIRKENSTOCK earns strong reviews for comfort and longevity: the contoured cork footbed molds to feet, offers solid arch support, and many pairs last years, even through daily wear. Reviews also flag drawbacks—tough break‑in with blisters for some, sizing can run wide or confusing, footbed imprints and odor in heat, water can damage cork, and several cite faster‑wearing soles or recent durability concerns.

  • I love my Birkenstocks! Super stylish and durable. A great everyday sandal that goes with everything.

  • A little over a year ago I purchased the Mayari Oiled Leather sandals. I happily wore them until just two months back when the strap came out from under the inner sole. I would assume that since Birkenstock's prices are so high, that would equate to a good, long lasting quality product. But I was wrong. After learning that Birkenstock does not offer ANY kind of warranty on their products, I was shocked. I also recently learnt that Birkenstock had stopped suppling products to Canadian retailers a while back and since then their customer service has went to shit! Previous to that, Birkenstock had a great warranty and the suppliers who had sold Birkenstock products in their stores said that whenever there was an issue, they would just ship the shoes out to get fixed at no cost to the consumer! So what was I to do? I ending up bringing them to a cobbler where I was further shocked to learn that the cobbler had already received not one, two, but three of the EXACT same pair of Mayari Oiled Leather sandals as mine, that day, with the same issue!!! Some hadn't even been worn as much as I had worn mine! It's a shame that such a reputable company has gone to shit. I unfortunately will no longer support them like most of my friends have already done.

  • Horrible fit. Buckle was not tacked in. Staple was not tacked down. Sent back asking for REFUND - was sent another pair of sandals. Horrible fit again - returned , again asking for my $80.00 REFUND. I have been told by 3 cust. service agents " your refund will appear in account in ...days" - THEY LIE - THEY HAVE NOT REFUNDED MY MONIES - Over 2 months now, 4 phone calls, over 3 hours of phone work!!! They STOLE MY MONEY... THIS SUCKS!! CRAP SHOES, LYING, UNETHICAL BUSINESS . they will send response asking for order #, ... it does me no good. THIEVES

  • Fully behind the resurgence of the Birk! They are a hug for your feet, and so easy to slip on and off. Perfect to slip into your travel bag when you need a multi-purpose shoe for all weather and terrain.

  • Super comfortable, I wear these as slippers at home and have other pairs I wear as outdoor shoes. Have never been disappointed in a pair of Birkenstocks.

  • I’m loyal to Birkenstocks for life! I always have at least two pairs going, and I always will. So comfortable, unbeatable quality, and lots of styles and colors to choose from. Each pair lasts me years of regular wear before I need to replace, and I’ve never had a pair break.

  • I always wear size 8 minimum so my husband bought me a size 39. They are so big not true to size at all. Birkenstock would not budge and exchange for a smaller size since the 30 day window had expired. Gave me a bit of a run around and time waste before they declined to exchange. Very disappointed in their customer service.

  • Although I love the look of my Birkenstocks, the sticky feeling of the footbed after a few wears and the uncomfortable sole when worn more than a few hours makes me reach for my other brands most often.

  • Do Not buy. This is a cheater company. The Local cobbler makes better shoes than them. Simply avoid.

Bad very bad, it hurts my feet. It is a chappal and when I contacted customer care, they asked me to wear socks! Who wears socks with chappal when the sun shines beyond 40 degrees? Worst company.

  • Have been mostly happy with Birkenstock my entire life however I would caution against buying the Papillio Mary style wedge sandal. Have only had for one year and the strap broke. Unfortunately, Birkenstock will not repair it and gave me links to repair shops that cost $100. The shoe is $160 brand new. Do not buy this style!

  • Do not buy these shoes, they told me you must break them in and all I got was massive blisters all over the buttom of my feet from the harsh, hard cork insoles. There's alot of other more comfortable better looking shoes. Called the store and manufacturer and spoke to them about the situation but they had no solution of resolving the problem. They have bad customer service aswell as haveing bad hard uncomfortable shoes... smh

    Get shoes replaced or returned.

  • Cute and timeless shoes. Shoes are extremely comfortable after the break-in period. Sizing is as expected per the size chart.

    Feedback

Look at their size chart to determine your size as they go by half sizes.

  • Very comfortable, easy to match with every outfit and a good price. My go-to sandals.

    Feedback

Felt like I had to break them in at first which was a bit uncomfortable, but after wearing them for about a week they became molded to my feet and super comfortable.
