  • Paid extra for a solar panel the solar panel the solar panels never worked. Customer service does not exist you get a canned response. Now since the last firmware update I have not received a postcard in well over 2 weeks I have deinstalled reinstalled Troubleshooted every possible thing and it does not work what makes it worse is there is absolutely no customer service I keep getting the same excuse that they do not have enough help but someone will be with me eventually . If absurd and not the consumer's problem! And! it never happens ! I finally left a comments on Instagram and they delete them. They are quick to take your money on these extremely overpriced items that they did not test thoroughly and make sure they worked before releasing them to consumers. We have purchased a couple of these for family members as well and I'm extremely disappointed and upset that they are so willing to take money from people but not stand by their product and help with it when neede

  • I love my Bird Buddy! It's so much fun! Getting to see all the birds that visit your backyard. I had no idea all these bird species came to my yard. Now I get to feed them and get to see their photos and videos in the Bird Buddy app. Brilliant!

  • I’m really enjoying my feeder! One of the best campaigns I've backed - despite some delays. We've got it set up in our backyard and probably get around 15-20 visits a day. It's pretty awesome to get the notifications while I'm at stuck work :)

    I'd like to see a feature in the video postcard to fast forward so I can easily scan it before deciding whether to keep it. Also, an option to go through it frame by frame to take stills from it. I find I'm not able to pause at the exact moment I'd like to focus on. I know I can download it and do these things, but would rather not add that extra step. Thanks!

  • I love my Bird Buddy! Yes...development took longer than expected, but now that it's here, I love it. I was one of the first recipients of the feeder (last October) and since then, Bird Buddy has consistently updated the product: increased battery life, addition of video postcards, etc. It is now living up to the potential that I believed in, and over time I imagine it will continue to improve.

  • I bougt a bird buddy for my husband's father's day gift. It arrived almost 8 months after I bought it due to development. Once he got it, it worked for ONE day and then broke. We have contacted the customer service and received no help so the issue was "escalated". That was a month ago. This device is NOT worth the money. I'm very disappointed and will seek a return.

  • DO NOT BUY. Doesn’t work! Their product is defective - they don’t charge, don’t pair, and flat out doesn’t work. The company is a ghost that does not respond to customers and will not accept returns or issue refunds. Mine’s in the trash one month after receiving it (after a two year wait)

  • Company can not get camera module to pair with my Bluetooth devices. After complaining they have not contacted me in two weeks. Great idea but just doesn’t work

  • We bought the bird buddy months ago and had a trouble setting up the account. Countless attempts to contact their customer service have gone on answered. Do not buy this, there are plenty of other alternatives on Amazon.

  • This product is still in beta and the battery goes dead in 24-36 hours, even with the solar roof. Bird Buddy support has acknowledged this problem as we have exchanged emails/suggestions. An upcoming software release is supposed to fix these problems. (1) Initial charging (8 total hours) only showed as 19% in the app; then placing it into the housing then reported 97%. (2) Battery discharged in 24 hours to zero even with solar battery roof. The roof is south-facing in full sun. I have an all-solar off-grid home, so I know what I am doing when it comes to solar. (3) Recharging the battery indoors only peaked at 21%; once again, placing it into the housing then reported 95%. The battery went dead after 24 hours. There were no bird sightings or captures, so it is not discharging from many captures. I am highly disappointed in the charging and software efficiency performance, and Bird Buddy acknowledged that problem in their FAQ/Notes.

  • I've been following this company from the beginning of 2021 and it's been a roller coaster ride really. But at the end of the day what really matters is the product that they delivered and that has just been amazing. The photos are crystal clear, the AI works surprisingly well most of the time. They keep making improvements to the core product on what feels almost like a daily update cycle. They clearly care. As far as I understand they've shipped 100 thousand units in the last 3 or four months which is a massive operation for any company, especially a startup.

  • Avoid. I was an early adopted and 2 years on, they have still not managed to ship the product to me. I would strongly recommend that people avoid this company. It is not a scam, but they seem to have very little regard for their customers.

  • When it works it’s fine but it rarely works. Service is horrible. Directions are terrible. It’s like and endless loop of aggravation. It keeps telling me I’m offline but I need to do a factory reset to get it back online. I’ve had it for 3 days. It worked for 3 hours. Also battery reads 56% charged. It’s been charging for 2 days. I threw it in the trash. I didn’t want to deal with the return.

  • I'm in love with my Bird Buddy! It was very easy to set up and I started receiving bird notification with beautiful photos and video the next day. I love that you can share access with other people and enjoy collecting birds together. I spend way too much time browsing public photos captured by other people in the network as well. I received it as a gift and it's the hands down the best gift I've ever received. Looking forward to enjoying this product for years to come!

  • Good concept. But, so poorly executed it can't be recommended. Poor design: difficult or impossible to connect, difficult to fill with seed, feeder fails to recognize camera installed, the issues go on and on. Combine this with horrible customer service and this is a complete fail!

  • I got Bird Buddy for Christmas and am really enjoying getting both livestream and "postcards" of visiting birds. The solar roof is a very good idea to help keep the camera charged, but it is very finicky plugging in the connection from the solar panel to the camera in the tight space available. The first day I hung it up the charge lasted only about 24 hours, but it was quite overcast so maybe the solar panel needed more sun. In that time I got a few bird pics, and several of the squirrel that broke the hanging rope and banished the feeder to the ground. I'll have to find an alternative mount for the bird buddy. The app is not very intuitive to navigate. From the home page you have to swipe your account name to get to the livestream, and bird buddy won't take photos while in livestream. However, there is no icon to get directly to photos from the account page, and Support doesn't provide a tutorial for navigating the app. It's also not easy to navigate from photos to any other pages. I like that the Postcard page give options to save or delete each photo, after which it organises the photos into Collections of same kind of birds. It does a pretty good job of identifying the birds in the photos, and providing suggestions for birds it can't identify. While there are still a few quirks for Bird Buddy to work out, it is a really fun product to enhance your backyard bird watching!

  • Terrible! The concept is great but the product is the worst. Not only did it take literally two years to receive, but the thing dies every day. I have literally never been able to take a picture of a bird of the feeder. I received the solar panels to try and solve the problem and they don’t work!

  • While I like the concept, it does not work well where I live. I cannot reliably pair the device and when it does work, it is very slow to show the video feed. Therefore, I have been trying to return the product and keep getting the same messages from their customer service over the last three weeks, but without any instructions for returning the product...I am within the 30 day full refund return window. Calling my credit card company to see if they can affect the refund for me. Very disappointed in this (over-hyped on Facebook) product!

  • We bought a Bird Buddy two years ago and finally got it five weeks ago. The battery runs out every day requiring us to take it down to recharge it. If I knew back then what I know now, I wouldn’t have bought it because it is a waste of my money and energy to maintain it. #wasteofmoney #hugedisappointment #frustrating

  • I won't base this on waiting two years for the product....which is just silly. I will simply say the basic smart connection is failed, support response times were absurdly long (presumably because they were flooded with angry responders reporting the smart device was not smart at all and couldn't connect) and the battery is embarrassing. I just dropped 12% of battery in 1 hour. There are better products on the market. After waiting two years, I couldn't be more disappointed. The whole experience has been frustrating and to finally have it working but to see that the battery only lasts two days before needing a charge?! Sad to say, this is not worth your money whatsoever. The should included the solar panel for free as it required constant maintenance otherwise. Poor product, exasperating experience.

  • I love my Bird Buddy. It provides a view of birds that I never thought possible. The product exceeds my expectations and was definitely worth the wait.
