Reviews mention

  • Sleek minimalist aesthetic design
  • Lightweight hard-shell construction
  • Smooth-rolling 360ยฐ wheels
  • Thoughtful interior compression system
  • Easily scuffed exterior surfaces
  • Occasional wobbly telescoping handle
  • Inconsistent zipper or mesh durability
  • Heavier, dent-prone aluminum shell

Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

  • Ever since I got my Away Bigger Carry On in 2020, I have exclusively used it for travel. As a management consultant, it was the perfect bag to bring to the client site as it's sleek and professional. Now, as a leisure traveler, it continues to be perfect in terms of functionality, esp. for city travel when you're rolling your bag around streets.

  • Overall great product and experience. By far the best luggage I've ever had!

    Feedback

The outer shells mark very easily, especially if you buy a lighter colour. The marks do come out but can be annoying. Would recommend buying in a darker colour

  • I absolutely love my Away bags. After asking for the Bigger Carry on for my birthday last year, I fell so in love that my husband and I both added the larger bags to our wedding registry. The four wheel structure makes getting anywhere a breeze, and these bags hold SO much. I've packed for up to 6 days in my bigger carry-on, and the built in battery is beyond convenient.

Prices are a bit high and items run out quickly when on sale. My only issue with my pink bags are that you can easily see scuff marks from wear. The good news is that each bag comes with an erasing tool that can help buff these out.

  • Suitcase is solid, have taken it on overnights and long hauls and it's held up quite well.

The matte white finish picks up scuffs and stains super easily

  • I love the bags because of the charging case and area, but the bags scratch very easily.

    Feedback

Needs to survive check in at the airport without scratches. The material needs to be worked on.

  • Nice look, super heavy and I find that the added features sort of get in the way instead of being helpful/convenient.

Offering a lightweight/featherweight option, expandable, better/more functional wheels.

  • I own two large bags, the carry-on and the backpack. The luggage is sturdily built and feels like it would last a very long time. The integrated lock is welcomed but rarely used. There are some inserts for clothes/similar but I don't care for them. I purchased the extra suit holder which is quite nice and integrates well with the carry-on. The backpack is not worth the money, as much as I hoped it would be since the sleeve to attach to the carry-on was the purpose of my purchase. The zippers failed easily and the side pocket is poorly made. Luckily all of their items are guaranteed for life, but given the company's growth it may take a while to get a new replacement. Also, they don't accept any returns in the store, which would be a game changer if they did.

They should make returns/exchanges much easier with their brick and mortar stores.

  • Love their products. We have the carry-on and the big suitcase. Nice design, sufficient quality. Will keep on buying their products.

  • I don't really understand why these suitcases are popular (probably good marketing I guess). I had an Away carry-on bag and it seemed like every other plastic hardshell suitcase on the market, just more expensive. I used it to travel a lot and the wheels got worn down and sticky really fast and the outer shell looked beat up after just a few months. You can go to TJ Maxx and buy a hardshell suitcase that is equal quality and cheaper...

  • The customer experience team is phenomenal. I have had to return two of my pieces (one quality, one size) and each time I had great service experiences. My carry on bag popped the zipper. Overall I am satisfied with the product, I have had some pretty big dents due to baggage handling and have popped out easily. No matter the color this will show marks from travels.

If packing is your worst skill (like me) do not purchase the large or at minimum weigh in advance. Every time I packed this size I ended up with luggage that weighed 100 pounds and had to pay the fee both times to France :(.

  • I've ordered multiple products from Away over the course of several years. I've also returned a couple products because I changed my mind on a colorway or size. From the shopping experience to the packaging and even post-purchase experience working with their customer service team, everything was top-notch.

I've had to replace multiple parts on the bag throughout the four year lifespan that I've owned the suitcase. The aluminum product looks incredible right out of the box, but it'll never look as good as it does right then. Even after one use, it looks like you've owned the case for several years. This is used as a marketing point, but I think there's room to build a more durable product that stands the test of time (and baggage carousels).
