Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

Have had my away for 8 years, and their customer service is fantastic. Suitcase is functional, light, and works well even over time.

Great sizes but the Metal cases are a bit too heavy when you are flying. Customer service is amazing they will repair anything that might get damaged.

I got the carry on in a limited edition neon green- (like a bright kelly green, shiny plastic not matte)- which I get conpliments on all the time. It’s just the right weight when full and perfect fit in overhead. Have taken it on the train many times as well (subway, amtrak). Zipper seems to be a sturdy one because I definitely PACK IT. On that note, it could use a touch more space if it expanded at all- the hard shell really has no give. But of course then it would start getting less portable and light, and they have a carryon that has an expandable option for more $$, which I think is a little high.

No Away carry-ons for the Spock's * 25Dec23 * Discovered carry-ons bought were not Int’l travel-rated * 26Dec23 * Processed RETURNs, selected replacements * 28Dec23 * 20% off ended * Realized mistake, processed EXCHANGE as RETURN * Documented purchase, return w/ purpose “TOO BIG”, explained EXCHANGE processed as RETURN * 30Dec23 * AWAY - replacement => NEW purchase. * Rewrote req, delineated intent to EXCHANGE (vs NEW purchase), steps taken consistent w/ EXCHANGE. * 02Jan24 * AWAY - EXCHANGE denied I saw AWAY as a reputable co. that sold quality luggage worth the investment; but, I’m disappointed that the steps taken w/ clear intent to process an EXCHANGE - failed to qualify as an EXCHANGE to AWAY. This was an honest customer mistake that’s easily resolved, but this experience concerns me that AWAY lacks the customer service focus expected of a co. selling high quality luggage & price point. If unresolved, I’ll go w/a competitor (Briggs&Riley, Hartmann, Travelpro)

Was going to suggest getting the soft cover carry on instead of the classic hard cover, but seems like they don't sell that one anymore! In general, I found the hard cover got scuffed suuuper easily, and wasn't that easy to use when trying to stuff as much in as possible. It's a good suitcase, I wouldn't say that it's life changing though (I've had just as much luck getting a cheap one from TJ Maxx or something)

Takes a good beating, Stylish and good sizing and capacity. The wheels can feel sluggish at times and many airlines don't allow you to bring the battery on board for phone charging.

I finally caved and bought the bigger carry on. I was skeptical cause of the clamshell opening but honestly it's not bad. It rolls so much smoother and easier than my Samsonite. I'm still getting acquainted with packing it the right way but so far I love it and wish I had switched earlier. The real test is going to be how it fits in small Paris hotels...

Have had my carry-on AWAY suitcase for maybe 4 years now. It's held up, has minimal scratches, and fits more than you'd think by looking at it. The battery hasn't been that critical for me, and honestly it can be annoying to have to remember to take it out if the bag needs to be gate checked. This is my first four-wheel rolling suitcase and its an upgrade, but my partners non-AWAY suitcase has much smoother wheels, so I think there is room for improvement.

The suitcase of my dreams. Traveled for 3 weeks in Asia, smooth as butter. Fits SO MUCH if you utilize packing cubes.

I received one of these suitcases as a gift about 6 years ago, and I continue to use it all the time. However, I cannot use the charging station in the back because the battery is a safety hazard if you are aboard a flight.

High quality, light weight exteriors + smooth wheels, handles, and sleek features make traveling with Away chic and stress free. So many people doubt how a well organized, compact and smartly designed piece of luggage can cut down on the stress of travel and away does it every time. Pricy on the up front cost but well worth it given the lifetime warranty and included portable charging bank.

I purchased the bigger carry-on in 2021. It's almost 2024, and the suitcase is as beautiful as the day I bought it.

I've had my away suitcases for about 4 years now and it's held up fairly well. I would say that when I first purchased the suitcase, it felt like a high-end purchase but that feeling has worn off with the competitors that have come out. It overall does what it has to do but I've generally felt like the carry-on is a bit small depending on the weather I'm going to. For cold weather, you really can't bring a lot with you unfortunately. When it comes to customer service, I've had a pretty good experience. The zipper of my fiancé's suitcase broke and when we brought it to the store, they took it and sent us a brand new suitcase without much question. That is the policy they state if they are unable to repair it onsite and it stood true for us. I'd still recommend the suitcase but I think consumers are spending more for the name and customer service than the quality of the product with all the equal competitors on the market now.

If you struggle with organization and are constantly sitting on your bag to make it all fit, Away is the bomb.com. It is designed with an interior zip-over compartment that keeps everything in place and is great for keeping dirty items separate from clean ones.

My Everywhere Bag in Black Leather did a great job until its 10th months, unfortunately the zipper quit by my very hard use as a flight attendant. Away's customer service is amazing & even tho they discontinued the same Leather ones, they sent me a brand new nylon everywhere bag.
