Reviews mention

  • Sleek minimalist aesthetic design
  • Lightweight hard-shell construction
  • Smooth-rolling 360° wheels
  • Thoughtful interior compression system
  • Easily scuffed exterior surfaces
  • Occasional wobbly telescoping handle
  • Inconsistent zipper or mesh durability
  • Heavier, dent-prone aluminum shell

Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

  • I LOVE my Away bag and even replaced my Tumi/Samsonite luggage with more Away products. The design is simple, yet includes everything you'd need (TSA locks, garment bag, dual compartments, luggage straps, bag tags, etc.). The bags hold way more than any other brand and they hold up to serious travel. I flew 2x a week, cross-country for work for 9 months and my bag didn't give out.

  • I love my away bags. I’ve been using away since 2017 and will never go back!

  • I really like my away suitcase!! It is durable and modern looking.

  • Obsessed with my suitcases from Away! Love all the colour options (I have the baby pink in all 3 sizes) and the security locks on them. Really great space, and worth getting the packing bags that go inside and fit perfectly. Also the suitcases fit inside each other (Small into Med, Med into Large) for convenience when putting away.

The baby pink gets dirty/scratched easily but it comes with an "eraser"

  • Solid travel luggage company. Has many copycats that just can't make the same thing.

I would ask Away to add some built-in packing cubes.

  • I've had my away carry-on (the smaller size of the two carry-ons) for around 4 years and do not regret this purchase one bit. SHAPE: It is the perfect shape with every side being flat & straight with just rounded enough corners. This seems like an odd thing to call out but a lot of suitcases aren't straight so one side is smaller than the other when packing! FEATURES: The lock, two handles (side and top), 360 wheels, and hidden charger are all features that many other brands now have as well but when recently comparing it doesn't seem one other brand hits every feature away does, and when they do they don't have the lifetime warranty. INSIDE: The inside lining is a nice neutral and I like that it comes with a laundry bag, a small inside pocket, an international charger and that the clothes compression side is a large pocket with a reinforced bar inside to keep things on that side even more safe when opening and closing the bag vs many other brands just have straps exposing everything and giving an uneven compression.

The price increase is a bit disappointing but I do understand things are getting more expensive. I paid 225 for my bag including the battery pack and now that exact same bag is 295. It has been 4 years and there has been recent added inflation but that does seem like quite a bit more. That's a 31.1% increase when the fair rate of inflation for those years should be closer to around 13%. I think it borders on crossing the line of taking advantage of "inflation" vs the increase actually being due to inflation.

  • I have the bigger carry on and the large suitcase. These have been great for domestic and international travel!! I love the compression feature- it is very worth it and I can pack so much more.

My pink luggage did get scratched/marked very easily. I would buy a darker color if purchasing again.

  • My away suitcase is my fave! Lighter colors will stain or get marks but the company has great customer service and the suitcases are so well made with great features.

Price is high, but I think rivals like brands on the market. That is the one shift id make though.

  • The Away carry-on suitcase is quite sleek and functional. I especially like the portable charger -- it is such a lifesaver when traveling!

Over time, I've noticed that my suitcase has gotten some scratches even though I have never checked it in. Would be nice to have it be a bit. more durable to general usage.

  • The products look great and initially feel very high quality. But I have found my carry on showing wear - the handle doesn’t lock like it used to, the wheels aren’t as smooth, and the scuffs are showing more and more.

  • I'll admit - I was a hater before I bought these bags. I used to travel with a tiny backpack no matter the trip I was taking, so paying this much for a full blown suitcase felt dumb. But the second I left the house with my Away bag, I realized how foolish I had been. This bag rocks. It feels like luxury without the luxury price tag. It's durable (even on cobblestone), it looks nice, and it fits almost everywhere. Also it arrived in like three days when I ordered it. Overall such a good experience.

I hate the bumps from the handle....

  • i have the bigger carry-on, it's been very durable and easy to clean. it's a great size for weekends, business trips, and i even managed to live out of it for a month before!!

some parts could be improved. the pull handle is really wobbly when extended, so feels low quality. also my divider on the inside always comes loose and its super annoying to reattach it to the hooks. the battery is great to use independently, but airlines will make sure you don't have the battery in the suitcase while on the plane (in case they need to gate check the bag, can't have li-ion batteries unattended).

  • Purchased a carry on size for my husband since he travels for work. Now I want one for myself! I love that they have the option to include a portable battery and the lock on the suitcase itself. High quality product!

    Nothing!

  • My away suitcase has a high-quality feel that makes it stand out from bargain suitcases. However, it the build quality does fall short of high-end suitcases such as Tumi and Rimowa although that's to be expected with the price. They're affordable compared to other suitcases in their class but I'm still not so sure why suitcases are so expensive in the first place. Big fan of their focus on sustainability

  • Great quality item and design but the cost make the product somewhat inaccessible. I also find the battery a constant challenge when traveling. I continuously have to take it out, so it is easily misplaced.

  • I got may away suitcase 2 years ago and I still love it. I have the carryon which is perfect for me and fits enough stuff for most trips. I do try to take good care of it (like cleaning it after every trip) and it still looks brand new

  • I flew weekly for work for a year with my Away suitcase and it's in great shape still, compact, holds a ton. Love the inner zip organizer. For business travelers or anyone on a long-haul trip, the portable charger is lowkey great too – holds a ton of battery and has a fast-charge port that charges my phone from 0 to 100% battery in an ~hour.

    Feedback

Not a criticism of the product, but it's probably best for professional travel, maybe not a fit for budget trips. I ended up buying a large backpack/duffel for other trips with a lot of walking (wheeling a bag around gets pretty annoying) or flights with carry-on weight limits.

  • Great! I've had an Away set for about four years – it has held up great.

You can't take lithium batteries on planes anymore I don't think – I had to remove the one in my carry-on

  • I love my Away suitcase and packing cubes. I've had mine for a couple years now and it's been a dream. the zippers don't catch, love that is comes with the external battery. I do loathe that I get stopped by every flight attendant asking if I have a battery in my suitcase. I get why, but had I know, I probably would have opted from getting that one. I did have an issue with one of my packing cubes and they sent a replacement right away.

Wish tehre was a way that flight attendants can know if there is a battery in the compartment or not so they don't stop and ask everytime.
