Aesop earns strong reviews for luxurious scents, elegant packaging, and body-care standouts like Resurrection and Reverence Aromatique Hand Washes, yet opinions split on value. Reviews praise sensorial formulas that feel indulgent and often effective for hands and body, while noting weaknesses: high prices, plastic/leaky pumps, perfumes with short longevity, and some skincare that irritates sensitive skin or underperforms.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
Nothing about this body cleanser felt luxury. It had the weakest scent ever, I’ve had better from smaller businesses. I was so sold from the reviews of how WONDERFUL it smelled. Lies. It lathers and cleans very well but so does dove soap. If I’m paying close to $50 I want a $50 experience. This just wasn’t it. The aesthetics are great and fine but what was the hype for honestly? It’s a mediocre body cleanser. It’s not even on the cleaner side of beauty products. I’m auger underwhelmed.

Cleaner products for the price or more exclusive ingredients.

Love the brand, the products (I have way more than I’m comfortable disclosing) and the stores. 10/10 experience.

I wish I could buy refill bags instead of having to purchase new not so eco friendly bottles every time.

USD$30 for a hand lotion.... worth it. As a lil treat. Smells divine, absorbs quickly, medium hydration. The perfect daily hand lotion. I tried a sample of their body lotion and was disappointed in how long it took to rub in. I have tried samples of their face wash and face cream. Again, their scents are divine. It's like I am in some mystical ancient apothecary. Effective wise... okay. I think some items here are 100% worth the price and some are not. Aesop has great customer service and you can test most products in store or through a sample before purchasing.

Tested out Aesop products while staying at the Venice V Hotel in Venice Beach, CA. The products are luxurious, provide an enjoyable sensorial experience, and look beautiful in a bathroom setting. However, I don’t think that the high price point is justified. With the expensive price tag, I was surprised that the bottles are plastic instead of glass. Additionally, the body balm didn’t seem any more moisturizing than an affordable lotion from Target or Walmart.

I have everything Aesop all through out my home. Love the smell of the hand wash and incense. Also, the fact that it was founded in Australia holds a special place in my heart.

Unfortunately, my skin is too sensitive for their products, so can not really use any of their products for my face. I But I do use the body wash and hand cream, and two of their parfums are my every day choice! The scents are amazing!!

Essential oils and natural ingredients in the formulations are too aggressive for sensitive skin.

Aesop, so expensive, so iconic. The price hasn’t stopped me from buying their hand soaps because I am a sucker for the exfoliating options. But what is up with the pump bottle? I feel like for $60+ a pop my soap dispenser shouldn’t leak after each use. I’m constantly wiping down the bottle and wasting precious product!

Luxury and indulgence are the first words that come to mind when I think about Aesop, a brand that has mastered the art of elevating everyday skincare and body products to an exquisite sensory experience. Although I have mixed feelings about the scent of their iconic Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, it never fails to transport me to a serene spa or a memorable vacation, making it a nostalgic indulgence in my self-care routine. The essence of Aesop lies in the meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high-quality ingredients, which are evident in each of their carefully crafted products. From the minimalist yet elegant packaging to the rich, nourishing formulations, every aspect of Aesop exudes sophistication and luxury. The brand's focus on botanical ingredients, many of which are meticulously sourced, adds to the overall allure and makes each product feel like a treat for the senses. While I must admit that the scent of the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm is not my absolute favorite, it possesses a certain charm that keeps me coming back for more. The unique blend of mandarin rind, rosemary leaf, and cedar atlas is undeniably invigorating and refreshing. However, it is the memories and feelings it evokes that make it truly special. With each application, I'm transported to a tranquil spa, enveloped in a sense of calm, or reminded of a blissful vacation spent exploring exotic locales. Despite my ambivalence towards the scent, there's no denying the quality and efficacy of the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm. The rich, non-greasy formula quickly absorbs into the skin, leaving my hands soft, hydrated, and rejuvenated. It's a luxurious treat that I can't help but indulge in, even if the fragrance isn't my personal favorite.

I already admired the brand a lot and finally got a set of orange body cream and hand wash as a Christmas present.

I'm in love with the smell, the packaging, the result on my skin. I definitely recommend!

I give Aesop 5-stars for the Resolute body balm alone. It’s my go-to product and I go through so much of it, but it’s absolutely worth it to me. The balm is so rich and luxurious, and I LOVE the scent - which is so unique and warm. I have yet to try another balm that feels and smells like Resolute. Also, every Aesop store I’ve ever been to has been an amazing experience!

Whoa the quality of this line is AMAZING but at a steep cost. I walked in the store because I had seen this brand at various encounters (stores, airports, restaurant bathrooms) and so when I walked in I was looking for specific things of my needs but the associate was super helpful in guiding me and my husband to each of our skin appropriate needs. The quality of the whole system is so worthwhile, it blew us away the feeling of “gifting” ourself a few items for self care

Big fan of Aesop. I have a few products of theirs, my favorites being their 'Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm' and 'Elemental Facial Barrier Cream'. I've had these products for YEARS and they are still full. The hand cream smells great and feels good on your skin.

I would recommend buying the glass jars and staying away from the aluminum tubes. The price-quantity is much much cheaper when you buy more, and they will last longer than the tubes.

I have been a fan of Aesop for many years and have consistently been impressed with the quality of their products. I have found that their products are effective on my skin concerns (like psoriasis) and I love the luxurious feel and scent of their formulations. I believe that the quality of the ingredients and formulations is worth the investment.

The distinctive recognition value of Aesop's new perfume is crucial for its uniqueness. Setting itself apart from other perfumes, it boasts a captivating blend of exquisite scent notes that unfold into a truly distinctive character. The perfume's high price reflects the quality of ingredients used and the meticulous craftsmanship involved. It stands as an investment for those seeking a sophisticated and individual fragrance experience.

If you're a fan of natural, luxurious skincare, you need to try Aesop! From their earthy packaging to their gorgeous glass bottles (that you can reuse for decorative purposes), everything about their branding is enticing. Their Geranium Leaf Body Scrub is a winter must-have for giving your skin some extra TLC, and their hand balms are a staple on my desk. I've been lucky enough to receive their luxury gift boxes as gifts multiple times because, let's be real, I'm low-key obsessed with their products. The Amazing Face Cleanser is a game-changer for brightening up your skin, and while the Parsley Seed is a cult classic, it can leave you with that slightly "squeaky-clean" feeling which I'm not such a fan of. But my ultimate fave has got to be the Rejuvenate Body Balm—its vanillary, macadamia nut fragrance lingers all day and takes me to my happy place every time I use it. It's the answer to all my parched skins problems.

Their somewhat steep price points are, in my eyes, totally worth it. But I can totally see why some wouldn't consider Aesop's apothecary-esque formulas "everyday staples." Another small niggly thing, their cleanser bottles don't have a pour stopper so the liquid comes out in indulgent glugs—meaning you get through them rather quickly.

I was gifted these. They are very nice. It is inspiring me to step up my skincare game. The scent and feel are very authentic. In other words, it doesn't feel artificial or manufactured.

I'm going to check out other products for scents I prefer. But I have been complimented on the ones I have.

I bought the Vetiver root spray deodorant. It looks cool, it’s aluminum free if that concerns you, it smells like an Instagram picture of a handsome and misty forest without any bugs or scary stuff, smell lasts pretty long. Like not through a whole workout, should reapply after generous sweating, but the reapplication is pleasant because it smells really good and feels refreshing. The bottle is plastic though.

For a brand whose products are a skrillion dollars could you maybe make a scent sampler so I can decide which other ones I want? Help me help you take my money

Disclaimer: I am a masculine male, properly not extremely into skin care (or the like), and I do think their products are a little expensive. That being said - I love this company/brand as a whole! I had previously started to like the nice, higher quality, products my girl friend had been using but felt like the scents and esthetic were a little feminine for my daily use or typical taste. So I did what any self respecting melenial/gen z person did - went to tiktok! I came across Aesop and decided to try their shampoo, conditioner, and bundle including a hand lotion, hand soap, and body soap. The website shopping experience was extremely pleasant and informative, which was nice for a person who didn’t know what they were looking for. They provided free samples and even let me select which products I would like to try. I liked this touch because I was able to try things I would actually be interested in purchasing at some point and not just a random assortment that would just go in a random drawer or into the trash. The email(s) and shipping was next day (or extremely fast) without any extra charge. When the box finally arrived it was discrete, with subtle branding, as to not paint a red sign on the box saying “STEAL ME”. This was extremelyyy appreciated because I live in an apartment, in a decent sized city, so theft does happen occasionally. The packaging was very premium feeling (as I was expecting for the price it was) and had everything individually wrapped. Upon opening I was both surprised happy and surprised disappointed. This was because the bottles the products came in were a thicker plastic and not a brown glass like I had initially thought. I was disappointed because it would have made it more premium but happy because it made it more durable in case they fell and also likely helped the price not be more expensive. Either way, all of the products are extremely nice and are everything I could have wanted and so much more! From the very pleasant scents, appealing aesthetics, all the way to all of their products ACTUALLY WORKING instead of just a name on the label. I will continue to be purchasing from Aesop’s many lines for many years to come!

Possibly a “build your own bundle” with a select number of products, instead of only being locked into the pre-made bundles. Also maybe the general price being a little high. Nevertheless, this is a secondary “complaint” because for the quality it is definitely worth the money. However, it may be a little intimidating to people who are not as willing to jump into a product where the entry point is fairly high. This could possibly be combated with having smaller quantity products, that are more than a sample but less than the larger containers, or having a bundle with majority of a product line (i.e. face routine for dry/oily skin, shower products, etc. etc.) with smaller quantities for sale so someone can try an entire routine for a couple of weeks without breaking the bank to possibly not like it.

I wish I didn't love the brand as much as I do, but I spend all my money here. The body lotion is fantastic, I love the exfoliant, but most of all the Rozu perfume is to die for. Stepping into any store is a spa-like experience.

I wish it wasn't as expensive as it is, but well worth the money in my opinion!

I swear by their hand cream, it was the first that didn't make me feel super greasy and sticky so I became a committed customer. However, I decided to switch it up and buy a different scent (I typically buy the Resurrection Hand Balm) and I absolutely hated the smell. I still swear by Resurrection, but I have been turned off from trying other products and scents. Would def go somewhere to test and smell the product before purchasing. Also it comes in a metal tube rather than plastic so it is easier to recycle, but if you don't squeeze it just right the packaging can become wrinkled and not as aesthetic.
