I received a loop back knit sweat shirt as a gift in size large. The sweatshirt washed in cold water and dried in a warm dryer (not hot) and shrunk nearly a whole size - more specifically 2 inches in the body length and an inch in sleeve length. The hand feel of the 100% cotton fabric was on the rigid/stiff side to start and stiffened after first wash. The quality of the cotton was not organic and not claimed to be despite the brand's over-reaching claims to transparency and sustainability. The spec of the garment needs to be adjusted for shrinkage, the hand feel of the fabric softened. Would not purchase this item again.

The use of 100% cotton for a sweat shirt is unto itself risky for washing and drying because of the inherent shrinkage that comes with using all cotton. This is fixable utilizing the information that can come from wash, dry testing the fabric in dyeing, testing the same in a finished garment in varying temperatures, adjusting the tension of the loop back knitting of the material, and above all else - actually make it with GOTS Certified Organic Cotton and dye in low impact (low water usage) dyes. This is an admirable company with great values - but is must make a better quality product to close the circle of having to replace the product too quickly compounding our already dire environmental problems brought on by having to replace cheap products.
