I’m Hugh Thomas, the CEO and cofounder of Ugly. Born and raised in the UK, I now live in New York where I run the business globally. I’m passionate about making healthy food and beverages accessible to as many people as possible. I love finding new brands and founder stories that I’m passionate about.

What’s a brand you’ve recently spotted?

I love Pzaz. The energy shot space hasn’t seen innovation for years and I love the product and aesthetic that Jonah (the founder) has created. This is a brand to watch with Pzaz available at stores across NYC now!

What are some brands you’ve recently tested?

Showerblocks. The first product from Totally Solid, Shower Blocks, are brilliantly scented (good enough to eat?) and make cutting plastic out of the bathroom easy! 

Opopop. With a great range of flavors and super easy to use kit, the way they covered the kernels made this feel indulgent but not unhealthy (140 calories per serving), and provided me with both savory and sweet snacks in recent work weeks!

Halfday. They’ve made the delicious iced teas from your childhood healthy, and the beverages are brilliant; Peach Green Tea, Lemon Black Tea, and Green Tea Honey and Ginger.

Zab's Hot Sauce. I put the St. Augustine Style sauce on almost everything and hope that its founder brings their foodservice line, DTC!
